As a white man I have got to say #1- Yes we hate asking for help. #2- This is the most true thing i have ever heard, I will not pay anyone for something I can do. #3- When we lose it we lose it. #4- HORN NOISES. #5- We don't think about later, we think about now. Yep that's about right.
@hisbean5 жыл бұрын
I'm a stubborn, white woman, and I am the same way. I HATE asking for help. Especially from men. I don't like looking weak. I'm short, with little hands, but I will do everything I can think of, before I ask for help. Go ahead, and tell me I can't do something, because I"m a girl. lol (no I'm not a feminist, just grew up with little money, and a whole lot of self sustainability).
@TheRealRealOK5 жыл бұрын
his-bean You sound like a feminist, though.
@hisbean5 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealRealOK Nope, just stubborn. I've had plenty of people doubt me, my whole life. (both male and female) I can't stand women that pretend they are so weak, then think men MUST do everything for them. I might be a girl, but I'm not an idiot. If I can do it myself, why should I wait on a guy to rescue me? Sometimes it's just a matter of proving to myself, that I was able to accomplish something. If I can't do it, then I am super thankful that men are there, and can do it. Heck, I depend on the men in my life, to explain HOW to do something. That's not the same as expecting them to do it.
@todosassd18555 жыл бұрын
his-bean Sometimes there IS no guy to rescue you, or anybody else either! It took me 45 minutes to change a flat tire in the freezing cold wind one time, but there was nobody else in the area at the time, and it was a long way from home. And it was late, nothing was open so I couldn't even call anyone, and this was before we had cell phones. So self-reliance is an excellent thing to cultivate, really it's a necessity. Thank goodness my dad showed me how to change a flat when I got my first car, he knew I might need to do it myself one day!!
@hisbean5 жыл бұрын
@@todosassd1855 I fully agree. I try to teach my daughter the same things, I teach my boys. While it's nice to have help, or have someone else do it, it's as equally nice, to know you can do it on your own, if you have too.

I will admit that I outright refuse to ask for help over almost anything, I believe in self reliance to the point where I would rather chose self destruction over owing anyone anything. What that path of thinking has obtained me though throughout the years is personal knowledge that a lot of other people lack. It's the very reason other people are constantly asking me to help them out. It is probably also the cause of my vocabulary being far more colorful and creatively expressive then the average persons when I go off. I grew up with easily distracted older sisters who where constantly locking their keys in their cars usually with the car running, so I became adept at both open car doors as well as using a metal wire to turn off the car by flipping the keys over and pulling them out of the ignition. Coat Hangers, Bailer Wire, Ceiling Tile Wire, and Cemetery Wreath Stands all work great for doing such in a pinch. I used to work in a store and it got to the point where I had opened so many cars for other employees that they started sending me out on the clock to open cars for customers who locked their keys in the cars. It's a strange feeling having someone grateful to you but also curious at why you have such a skill.

Quite a few years ago, a friend/co-worker locked his keys in his car. There were about 4 or 5 guys standing around trying to open it with a coat hanger. One of them commented that the door wasn't completely latched shut and it should be easier than this to get it unlocked. So I asked, "Wade, do you have to hold up the door latch when you lock your car door?" Wade says "Yes." So I walk over to the car, bump the door with my hip, it latches closed completely, and the door lock pops up. I open the door, grab the keys on the seat and hand them to Wade. Man, the look on everybody's faces... It was great! Good times...

Haha... All of this is true. I called a locksmith 1 time. $109 later, I decided I was going to watch what the locksmith did and I would never call again! That was $109 to learn how to get my own keys out from now on! If you warp the door, you pried too far on the door, but seeing your door gasket shredded bc you broke in with sticks, or screwdrivers and your paint scratched up in your door jam is kindof depressing. AAAis for the weak! I have definitely thought about just punching out the window every time itbhas happened! We don't need to talk about what I've said when I finally get the door open, but it's nothing compared to when you poke the unlock button and your stick/wire keeps bending, or falling off the button.

This might sound like an ad, but I've locked keys in my car a few times over the years. If the coat hanger wrapped around the tailpipe doesn't do the trick in about 5 minutes I get on my phone and check car-part.com and find the cheapest window at a junkyard close to me because it's easier than calling each one. I only learned this after the second or third time after spending almost 3 hours fucking around and put a tool through the window. It cost 20 or 25 dollars to pick up from the junkyard and had it installed in under a beer.

I had a 2001 silverado dually that seemed to be a magnet for locked in keys. I swear that truck would just randomly lock its doors. Everyone always wondered why there was a slight bend at the tip of my antenna. I could get in that truck in under 2 minutes. Unscrew antenna, stand on the nerf bars. Grab the top of the door and pull. Insert antenna and hit the unlock button. ETA if you have a wedge like a plastic felling wedge or hell a piece of wood cut like an old door stock from elementary school.... its even easier to do solo if you have to use something like a hanger.

My neighbor had a 2000 something S10 and locked the keys inside. He asked for help. I went through my keys seeing if any of them would fit without forcing them. Turns out a $7 lockable gas cap key fit the door on the truck. I wrapped a plastic bag around the key and just shook the key every way possible while in the lock and it worked. Later I did the same thing using the same key on a different S10 and it worked. I ended up with a S10 pickup truck and tried the same method, again it worked! So, if you have a 2000s S10, you now know that a 7 dollar gas cap key that can be bought at AutoZone will unlock an it. Just shake the heck out of it and it will open.

1. I hate asking for help. I don't like owing people favors and typically I can do it myself anyway. 2. If AAA offered a service I couldn't do or didn't have the tools for, or couldn't figure out how to do on my own, then I might call them. After consulting KZbin tutorial videos first. 3. Some guys lose their shit. I typically don't. Unless somebody else is helping me and they are fucking it up. That's when my patience runs out and I start doing it all myself anyway. 4. It would have to be a HUGE achievement for me to act like that. Opening a locked car door doesn't qualify. 5. I'm actually mechanically inclined. There is no point fixing something if the fixing process is going to cause more damage. I've opened dozens of car doors (for other people) often using their own car antennae, without leaving so much as a scratch in the paint. But I have seen other people do exactly what you said in the video, bending the door frame back too far. I saw one guy (Mexican actually) pull so hard that he shattered his window and the window frame buckled. Now he lost his shit in spectacular fashion.
