The helmets are provided by the ACM. (Automobile Club of Monaco). You are not allowed to use your own. Hell, you're not even allowed to keep the orange fire suit without being blacklisted by the FIA and never marshaling an FIA sanctioned race again. My thought had always been, the impact shattered the diamond into really small pieces, as diamond is known for being brittle, and small pieces of diamond are worth nothing any way, and probably got swept away as debris. Of course all these are based on the assumption that there was a real diamond on the nose cone.

@@thesudarsanmitra Hardness and being brittle is different things. Hardness refers to how hard it is to deform something, brittle is how easy it is to break something. Glass for example is very hard but also very brittle.

@@JoyBozz diamonds are literally used in saw for cutting some elements, there are many people who tried to break a diamond but it’s really tough to do that and close to impossible, although it may give you some dust particles

Glass saw has a tiny diamond at the tip to be able to cut through glass, because glass is a really hard material. But you would be able to break it with ease, even with a wood hammer. See the difference? Good.

It was a story about a missing gem stone placed there as promotion for a movie about a heist. It always felt obvious to me that the intent was always for one to go missing so that there was a mystery about a heist for a movie about a heist.

Thing is, even if it was real and even if it ended up in someone's possession, real world resale values of diamonds rarely if ever live up to the headline price. That "$250,000" diamond would sell for tens of thousands at best. Which is not to be sniffed at, but certainly not enough to retire to a mansion in Oahu.

Monaco 04 is a totally underrated race IMO. I think most of us (not me, Team Schumi all the way!!!) roll eyes when races from that period are mentioned as you just imagine Ferrari winning but Monaco temporarily broke the win streak in 04. Ferrari weren’t on the pace that day and Schumacher went home pointless after a crash under the safety car with Montoya, we got to see Alonso flipping off Ralf Schumacher while going backwards and the race was won by Jarno Trulli from Jenson Button in the BAR which was a genuinely exciting result. It also followed Trulli’s banzai quali lap the day before which is up there with a Senna lap round Monaco!
