I Bought a Tentacle. It sounds pretty good. I don't use it often. Thanks @joshsmith!

Thanks Josh. We met at Jeff McErlain’s home last year. Still digging the ‘still’ CD I bought off of you. Listened to Brown Gatton after the news yesterday. Thanks man.

Thank you whomever put this YT up. Josh just gave me the info and demonstration I needed. I will now buy a Green Ringer Thinger.

Thats the sound my fuzz pedal made when the battery was almost shot and had just enough juice to barely make the thing work. With a full battery you can sound like Jimi on stage.

Having trouble deciding between this and the Kingtone Octaland. I like both sounds a lot. I actually owned an original 70s green ringer I ran through a custom box via analogman inorder to make it footswitchable. Loved that thing. The clean octave is really compelling sound though, so many little shades and nuances textures

Octaland is killer as well!

Dude’s strings could build a suspension bridge. Amazing.

And his hands could build the bridge by themselves. On time and under budget.

Henretta Purple Octopus is awesome! Tiny...No knobs, but internal trim pots for Octave mix, and level. Same idea of what you’re talking about. Setting the mix, and level is really nice. Totally agree about being able to mix the Octave up into many different pedals. Have it after my Fuzz, and before my Overdrive, and modulation.

Great stuff Josh. I ended up going with a suhr rufus reloaded for an octavia option after a load of research. I love it. I love most things guitar related to be fair though. 😀

Argonaut sounds great, so raw but melodic. I love mine with a Hudson Broadcast +/- a Vent. 👍

Thank you for posting this. I have a Proctavia and have bought other octave fuzz pedals... they all sound great... but I kind of feel like I hit a bit of a brick wall. I think most of us want the "octave" out front... but hearing the Green Ringer you can still play "normal" without things sounding cheesy or any two note interval sounding really clashy. Chicago Stompworks makes a no nob green ringer and I think it's time to invest. Peace and respect.

I use the Eno (Chinese) octaver and I crank the octave up and turn the dry and sub octaves down. It's perfect and it was $30.

I have one of the whammy DT's where it has a separate side that can do dedicated octave up or down plus dry signal. So I'll pair that up with either my tube screamer sound or astrotone fuzz. It's not the octavia sound, but gets close enough.

Thanks to you, and your that pedal show interviews, I own a love pedal believe. I did always wonder why my guitar didn't scream on the purple haze solo like the recording. Anyways thank you for the great content it's super interesting to hear you talk about your new playing philosophy and approach to guitar.

Hi Josh, do you happen to know which octave up / fuzz was used on the Isley Brothers track "Who's that lady?". I always got a kick out of that tone, even as a little nipper.
@JoshSmithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
As far as I know that was a Big Muff and a Maestro Phaser that got the high tone.
@BV_Beve3 жыл бұрын
I believe that Ernie (Isley) used a Big Muff, a Maestro Phase Shifter, and a Fender Twin on That Lady

Hi josh, got myself the tentacle from earthquaker devices witch should be the "same" thing as the mythos you use. Now my question, it got like a serious amount of volume boost when i m adding it into the clean amp, but more like a uncontrollable dynamic thing. There is nothing between the two sounds of playing soft and hard, it just clips on a point and goes totally crazy, i miss the whole "medium" tones in it, is it the same with the mythos one or does the mythos one response better playing dynamic wise?
@JoshSmithGuitar3 жыл бұрын
The Mythos is good dynamically.
