The abominable snowmen was rumoured to be getting animated this year aswell. As for the wheel in space there has been a weird amazon listing up for 3 years now, and might be getting done this year hopefully?

I want this one....always loved the book and the 2 full episodes on Lost in Time set even though there's not much to make sense of. I think the reason they may have for not animating it is that there are too many cast members, similar to them saying that The Highlanders isn't in the frame for a release.

I'd love to see a full length Wheel animation for three main reasons 1. It's the introduction of Zoe, one of my favorite companions. 2. It's the only 60's Cyberman story we don't have in some form. 3. i think like the Moonbase or Enemy, opinion of this story will improve if we can actually watch it.

I watched this on both - 'Lost in Time' DVD & Loose Cannon's CGI recreations. This story rocks!! The Cyberman Robot caretaker is a mysterious thing. I love the exploration the Dr & Jamie do inside the rocket and the small elements like operating the Space food dispenser. The Cybermen hatching from eggs is bizarre, not sure it works for me. But the over all story is top notch... I would at least hope the BBC commissions a model of the Space Station or CGI. 😎👌

I would like to see The Wheel in Space Animated in its entirety as it is Zoe’s first story, the last story of series 5 and also the only Cyberman story not yet released. However if they did do it then they would have to make some changes to what they have already animated. Not the ship or the Servo Robot or the TARDIS but the Doctor and Jamie. As nice as it is, it is noticeable that the animation for Jamie and the Doctor or a lot less fluent and look more like cardboard cutouts, like the Power of the Daleks animation. Also Jamie’s clothes throughout the mini episode are wrong as it reuses the character design for Jamie in The Macra Terror. This is probably due to the fact that this was a side project or happened before The Macra Terror animation started. Other then those changes then they pretty have already animated half an episode of 4 they need to animate.

This being animated and fury from the deep should be a priority after the finished animating the faceless ones. Considering the success of the macra terror I think they will animate them. If anything the artistic license makes the storys look even better than they would've in live-action

I wouldn't think much of what Bignell says, personally. He is regularly involved in DW releases and has been caught lying previously in an attempt to cover up the Power animation (which he was involved in) I'm aware that the original statement is from Norton, but you hardly expect them to admit it is part of a larger project.

one of the best parts of these animations is the integration of 2d humans with 3d monsters making them look and move in an extra inhuman manor. the robot felt so off and not knowing what it might do or what it did do is aggravating because i want to finish it animated but i cant... yet?

I see no point in releasing the animations if they are going to edit out scenes, what's the point? I also thought that the Wheel animation was way superior than that of the Macra, which was a shame really.

And that's the fundamental misunderstanding most people have. Despite being only 2 episodes, The Crusade would be one of the most expensive and time-consuming animations to do because of the sheer number of speaking characters and locations, and has currently been ruled out by the animation team (along with Marco Polo, The Daleks' Master Plan, and The Massacre) for being too complicated to feasibly do with their current resources. It would probably take them at least double the time, not half.

@sean bowman And the content of what you're animating. Hanna Babera is able to do it cheap not only because of their style but because they reuse tons of assets. This is not possible in the case of the Crusade or other complicated serials.

I just finished watching "Wheel In Space", reconstructed episodes 1, 2, 4, 5 (animated by Iz Skinner). Wonderful!I'd never seen this serial before and understand it was panned by many for the plot but I thoroughly enjoyed it as a throwback episode from the early years. Best I've seen in a while!

I'd like to see all of them animated eventually but i'd rather they crack on with Fury from the Deep and The Daleks' Master Plan first because I'm itching to see those stories. From the sounds of the reconstruction Wheel in Space was a fairly standard base under siege story and even though I get spreading them out I'd rather see the true game-changing classics come first.

I used to say I want web of fear found or the wheel in space or the moonbase if nothing else. these days, after listening to fury from the deep and the space pirates, I would love to see fury from the deep, the wheel in space or the space pirates either found and returned or reanimated if nothing else. My reasoning is atleast we have two episodes of the moonbase and now the animated remaining episodes and fury from the deep and the wheel in space seem to be the darkest of the missing ones, apart from the recovered web of fear ofcourse, as for the space pirates, around the last two or three episodes things get really interesting and all we have is like a filler episode remaining where not very much goes on and it doesnt do that story any justice atall. also Im gutted they didnt use that as a promo to animating the wheel in space, hopefully levine knows where the rest of that story is, would be a nice thought

The next animation project for Doctor Who is something that has been really bugging me for a while. You have to think about how easy it will be to animate, how long it will take and if it is one the fans want. For me, the ones which have a higher chance of getting animated are: . The Crusade . Galaxy 4 . The Celestial Toymaker . The Highlanders . The Underwater Menace . The Faceless Ones . Evil of the Daleks . The Wheel in Space There have been rumours that Fury from the Deep might be next animation but I actually hope it is not because for a Fury animation to be affective at showings characters fear and body horror, it would have to extremely good as in movie quality which I feel the animation projects, as good as they are, fail when it comes to conveying a characters emotions.

Given that there is a school of thought that the Dalek/Cybermen stories make more money when animated, it would make sense to release a full animated version of Wheel. But given the Macra Terror has gone down so well, maybe they want to branch out away from the ol' faithful baddies and try some other lost classics first?

It's infuriating that The Wheel in Space has never been animated, as if it was we could have every Cybermen story. I'm going to have to pick up the audio release or the Target novel at some point, but they're so expensive since the serial is missing. This story doesn't fuck about. It's horrifyingly brutal. So many deaths at the hand of just a few of these things lurking about. It truly makes them scary as hell to the point where you wouldn't want to bump into one. (Unlike the 80''s cybermen) The sound design is off the HOOK!! You feel like you're in the same bleak lonely space as portrayed in ALIEN. Troughton's stories are by FAR the scariest I reckon. Baker's gothic era was violent & had realism. But Troughton's stories are genuinely eerie. I think it's a crime this hasn't been animated yet & would urge people to create a go fund me so we can all put in to get it looking the BEST it possibly can. If the BBC don't wanna do it... trust me... there's better talent amoungst fans.

The missing episodes that have been animated for DVD release are those from The Reign of Terror, The Tenth Planet, The Power of the Daleks, The Moonbase, The Macra Terror and The Invasion (excluding Mission to the Unknown which wasn't done by the BBC). Those are stories that are either missing either half, less than half or all of their episodes. The Wheel in Space is missing 4 of it's 6 episodes so I can see why it's not on their "to animate" list as they don't seem keen on stories that are missing more than half of their episodes (idiots). Personally the story I'd most like to see a full-length animation of is Fury from the Deep. It's one of the scariest DW adventures of all time, it saw the debut of the sonic screwdriver (albeit briefly) and of course it features the heartbreaking goodbye between Jamie and Victoria which is one of the show's most iconic scenes. I think that's the next one we should see get animated.

I am watching this again in 2022 on April the 9th. A shame that they have released Fury from the Deep on animation, and this would make an excellent follow-up. A shame that currently, there are no plans to do further animations.
