54:55 I'm surprised you didn't note how Gigi's dad there giving you the Seath's Tear plays wonderfully into his quest. You found him slumped in the caves, and had to use a statue of Seath on him to revive him. At that time in the video you said he was unconscious, but no; I believe he was dead. It was the fact he was wearing Seath's Tear that let him come back to life when you used a Seath's Statue on him, much like how the Tear consumes Seath Statues when you die when wearing it to revive you. This is just a small list of minor additions and corrections to what Josh says in the video. 18:07 It's actually not 30 mana to use a teleportation gate, only 10. 25:10 You actually can assign Earth Heal, the first earth crystal spell, to the Select hotkey. You can do this with every healing or buffing spell that you would normally have to cast from the menu. It's attack spells you can't assign to this hotkey as they have their own dedicated attack spell face button. 26:20 The Magician's Key is not required to beat the game. None of the keys, save for enough Rhombus Keys to progress to the end of Zone 2 (which is three total) actually are; even the fancy keys like the Pirate's Key, Skull Key, Dragon Stones, Harvine's Key, Shrine Keys, etc. All the keys (save for the three required Rhombus ones) only open optional chests, areas, or access to other also optional items. Optional stuff that helps you build power to assist in beating the game, but optional stuff nonetheless. 33:33 Fun Fact. You can assign an empty Crystal Flask to the Select hotkey and then spam that key in front of a healing water source to insta-fill all of them in seconds. Then the filled ones can be put on the Select key for use without going into the menu as well. 34:32 For those who like numbers, the Blue Potion heals 100 HP, the Red Potion recovers 50 MP, and the Green Potion cures any status ailments. The Gold Potion does all those things combined (100 HP, 50 MP, + status heal). 35:34 Dragon Crystals aren't *technically* limited, but I'll only mention why if Josh doesn't do so at some point later. Which he didn't so here's a clue: the gold 'Dragon Grass' Trees can grow them. 36:02 Little known fact. Missile Shield actually acts as a general use defense spell against everything physical, reducing all non-magic attack damage received. Why it's only called Missile Shield is beyond me. 36:16 The Curse status ailment reduces you STR (Strength) stat on the main menu by 20 temporarily, essentially meaning you lose 20 levels of physical damage capability instantly. It can be cured with a Bloodstone, Green or Gold Potion, Dragon Crystal, or the Breath spell. Or you can just wait it out. All negative status goes away after a while. 37:07 The Scorpion's Bracelet raises your Poison defense by 80. You can see this in your 'Strength' menu on the right-hand side. There are two in the game, so you can raise this stat by 160 with just those two items. Poison defense drastically reduces how likely you are to become poisoned when hit by a poisonous enemy AND also how likely you are to be poisoned by the poisonous air inside the Cave of Poison in the Big Mine, arguably these accessory's better use. 37:49 Seath's Plume (Josh says Feather here) is not a key item, nor needed to beat the game. Nor is the Figure of Seath that Fai wants. Seath's Plume is a consumable that restores lots of MP and allows casting of magic without using MP for 30 seconds. I think he was thinking 'Figure' of Seath and thought 'Feather' instead. I've seen so many people get these two things, Seath's Plume and Figure of Seath, mixed up. 38:10 King's Field actually had another very hidden weapon, the Triple Fang, which is more analogous to the Shiden katana in KF2. I'm not sure if Josh mentioned this in his previous video or not. 39:25 Well, yes and no. There are lots of things that recover MP you can use if you have them when you drop down a one-way hole like this, like Moonstones, Dragon Crystals, and Red or Gold Potions. So, it's not quite a guaranteed soft-lock. 40:41 Except the Magician's Key doesn't actually unlock any doors, only chests :) And most contain Verdite. 45:12 Teo here is actually dead, not just unconscious. That's what the Figure of Seath does, it revives someone who is wearing a necklace called Seath's Tear, which Teo here just happens to have (the giant diamond-shaped pendant around his neck), and gives to you later if you visit him and Gigi. 46:06 It's actually not the Earth Elemental (dino) boss that respawns, it's the normal Earth Elemental before it. Note the size difference. 56:58 Fun fact. If you look closely at these partially female looking demons you can see that they look like the fairy, Miria, from the first King's Field. The character who, along with the power of the Black Dragon, turns the Dragon Sword into the Moonlight Sword. If spoken to, they even mention something about needing to find someone who can wield...the sword. Hmm...could this sword be the Moonlight Sword from the first game? And are the fairies here being turned INTO demons or is it the other way around and the demons are being turned INTO fairies? And for what? There are a lot of theories around this room, the nature of Miria and the fairies, the Moonlight Sword, and what the purpose of all three games in the Verdite Trilogy actually is. Perhaps Guyra (remember, he is the Black Dragon from the first game) has all along been using the constructed fairies and searching for someone who can wield both the Moonlight Sword and the Dark Slayer (and another sword we'll find out about in the third game) in order to slay Seath? @qwertyqeys and their repliers actually mentions this a few comments down.

I would add to that list, you don't need to replicate any rhombus key to be able to access every area of the game. You can cleverly place them at the right doors, at the right time and take back the ones you don't need anymore. I never replicate any rhombus key, because I love how the level design is implemented for these, how it forces you to think; where is there a key that I could take back and use to advance further?
@gameusurper24 күн бұрын
@@rainbowsonic5501 This is true. Like after opening the shortcut through Seath's Fountain room that goes between Zones 2 & 3 from North Village to Harvine's Castle. There are 6 Rhombus Keys you find in the vicinity of the 3 Rhombus doors you had to go through by Base No. 1 and the Underworld Prison No. 1 to get to Zone 3 initially. You can choose to slot all 6 to make the 3 doors here openable from both sides without having to move any (you MUST use at least three of them). If you found the Star Gate and Star Key, with a little creative teleporting, this makes 6 Rhombus Keys you can free up once you have Seath's Fountain unlocked after saving Sandler and getting the Pirate's Key and getting that second Dragon Stone. Once you exit the Termite's Nest and go through the outside of Harvine's Castle to get to the end of Zone 3 and into Zone 4, you start finding tons of these keys just laying around or in secret little cubbies. This, along with the 6 you can take back from the Base No. 1 area in Zone 2, helps you get through Zone 5 and into the Big Mine. After completing the Big Mine, like you did near the Base No. 1 area in Zone 2 earlier, you can take every single key back to use in Zone 6 to open the doors in the southern section near the Magic Cave of Fire. You even find more of them while doing this very thing. They start not becoming needed for the most part in Zone 7 except to get through the secret area in the south of the zone to turn off the two swinging mace traps in the main hallway. You can tell they REALLY thought about how and where to implement these doors and keys, even though they CAN be a bit annoying at the beginning. Nothing about their placement was random. It was so very intentional.

the craziest thing about the cloning vats is I'm pretty sure those female demons are supposed to be clones of the fairy you talk to in king's field 1. I think this is all implying that Guyra manufactured everything about you getting the moonlight sword, which also foreshadows the king's corruption in KF3. You were basically never playing through a hero's journey, you were just Guyra's lackey up until they chose to steal your badass sword, so Alexander's like "I'll get your cool sword back, buddy" and kills the god who made the sword, potentially never putting the pieces together since he didn't go through the events of KF1.
@ShiningforcekingАй бұрын
100%, someone with the lore at last! though that doesn't make Guyra the sole and only evil deity, Seath is as bad.
@HighPriestFuneralАй бұрын
Yep, I've read the idea that Guyra did not intend for it to be Alexander but Jean who came to the island to get his sword back. It being Alexander threw Guyra's whole scheme out of whack. Guyra may have intended Jean to kill Seath, saying that Guyra had already helped Jean defeat Reinhardt and bring peace to Verdite. But when it was Alexander who came... there was no previous meeting, no connection that could be made, so Alexander did what he thought was right and proceeded to vanquish Guyra, allowing Seath to reign supreme, leading to the king's corruption. Granted, either way I don't think there would be a method to resist the overwhelming powers of either Seath or Guyra. Trying to balance them was all that could realistically be done.

Both scorpion bracelets return in King's Field 3, so you can bring that up there once you eventually make that video. Also, while it doesn't help the fact you still have to fill every bottle separately, you can at least expedite the process by setting your stack of empty bottles to the select button and just pressing that until you can't any more. The first is to constantly circle strafe it attacking only after it tries to attack you. The second is to dart in and out of the alcove it's tucked away in. Both strategies teach you that you need to be patient and how to bait attacks and a punish when they completely miss.

Like Miyazaki took over during Demons Souls and I don’t know if it was him or the rest of the team or both. But carrying on traditions and little things from older games just cause is just badass.

It makes sense to me that you can't walk through a waterfall. You'd crumple to the ground instantly by the force of the water coming down on you.

You know what that fast travel system sounds like to me? A more restrictive version of Dragon's Dogma's system. There, you'd have to bring actual portal stone items to places you'd want to travel to quickly, and use another item to fast travel there. Some stones are fixed though, like one in the big city. I liked that system's concept.

Josh made his point while showing a picture of the Japanese cover art, unfortunately. The North American release’s cover art is just a picture of the Darkslayer and Moonlight Sword, and the point stands since the actual first King’s Field didn’t have a western release back then.
