Les oreilles et le cœur ne s'y trompent pas, cette performance est louable et infiniment touchante car très expressive et personnelle, ce violoniste y met toute son âme, et la musique de Sibelius est particulièrement intense! 🙏🎶❤️🎶🌹✨

Josh OWNS this piece. Favorite recording and interpretation, bar none. The way he knows this music, the way he gives himself time, musically, in the crucial spots, and the way that he knows how to play WITH the orchestra (as well as against it) all indicate hallmarks of a fantastic musician. Love this. Top notch.

I love the way the conductor and Joshua look at each other before Joshua starts his part... you can see they are both enjoying this performance so much!

estou pesquisando....mas não encontrei ainda músico com a alta performance de Joshua Bell...Ele é simplesmente único com seu stradivarius. Incansável, soberbo!

Perhaps you are right in saying that one should not publicly slander but my statements were not slanderous in that they were intended to be cruel for the sake of being cruel. They were merely an opinion expressed after watching a not so fantastic performance, much the same as a group of friends discussing a film or song they all did not enjoy (as I'm sure we all have at one point or another). Hopefully you can understand my point and I apologize for posting a wall of text, haha. :)

On a side note - listen to his Corigliano Sonata. It's fantastic. He makes great music out of that piece.

If you'll notice I said sloppy and OVERLY aggressive. You should never be able to hear the rattle of the instrument by hitting the G-string too hard unless you're a student violinist (like me), an overhyped violinist (like Bell). I am very familiar with the Heifetz recording and many others and few professionals make this mistake. If it happened only once, it would be forgivable, but it occurs repeatedly. And your argument was immediately destroyed when you resorted to name calling, btw. :)

I agree. I must say that this video is quite confusing.

While I understand your point there are two glaring problems with it. Firstly, by this logic, all art (film, music, painting, etc) are not subject to criticism by the audience. While this may be acceptable for an artist who doesn't publicly display his/her work, an artist who intentionally enters into the public foray--and even moreso, those who do it for a living--put themselves into the position to be criticized. It is this criticism that separates average players from masters...(continued)

Seriously................ I am of the camp that one should not publicly slander a performance of a professional. The only possible exception to this is if the critic is of equal or greater knowledge and experience than the subject of slander. I have found that in %95 of times where a great musician could say something negative, the almost never do....

I have to admit that this was a lot more fluid then Sarah Chang's but Sarah's had a lot of passion and power in the bow. While Josh's was slightly shy.

@Maseal, Dude. You took that way out of hand. You're for sure "that guy", which is a shame, but I won't argue with you, because you obviously dont listen to what is told to you. That's okay granted, it's a little sloppy, but honestly not much, and by 5:00 or so he picks it up. What the guy was saying is that don't judge so abrasively unless you yourself can play, you can "criticize" or whatever, but you don't have to be so... obvious about it kudos to Zach for speaking truth

I thought octaves were the same note...and also aren't harmonics supposed to be used WITH DISCRETION?

In this vein, you're putting a first week violin student in the same level as Heifetz in the eyes of somebody who is unable to even do the quality of a first level violin student. The second major problem is that the quality of art is judged by each individual member of the audience. As Immanuel Kant wrote, art is only art when it justifies the needs of the viewing audience (paraphrased). Further, it is my human capacity as an individual to judge and determine if something fulfills that need.

Great tempo choice - but Bell is a little off sometimes. I'm surprised!!!

I don't think Josh is over-hyped. I hear this all the time and it's annoying. If you listen to his playing, he is a very fine musician with plenty of ideas to share. The problem people have with him is that, yes, he is not pitch perfect, and secondly, his tone is a bit whiny sometimes. So what?! The amount of musical spirit and excellent phrasing that he has to share cancel all of the above out for me. If you want perfection and overall dullness, go for H.H.
@masael25512 жыл бұрын
Yikes, the portion from 0:08 - 0:16 was incredibly sloppy and overly aggressive. The scratchy sound of over vibration just took away from the climatic opening. Overall, pitchy and lacking. Unfortunate because the first movement was one of Bell's best. Was hoping he had matured. :(
