His cadence was around 200 strides/minute throughout the race! And it was an unstrained cadence for him. Eliud Kipchoge's cadence is around 195 strides/min, even in a marathon. That kind of turnover will keep you pretty light on your feet, which I think is the key to running fast (and possibly avoiding injury).

that U turn at 6:20 surely stole at least 2-3 seconds from the final time... i can not believe the organizers couldn't have found a better 5k route in damn monaco.. if the man is trying to break a world record, give him a flat course without U turns..

Those were not everyday runners he went up against either they were professionals. But he was chasing for a world record at the time which has been beaten already at this point. So it was no surprise they could not keep up with that pace.

I like how the group was behind him running and then they were no more.... In Africa, they grow up as children running to school for miles, the elevation is so high and poverty so common. But it offers higher capacity that just can't be gained in western style life...

@@TheSublimeLifestyle you're missing the point - it doesn't mean poverty creates success or champions-NOT at all... It's the RESPONSE / MINDSET IN facing very difficult situations. Then also add people or even one person that sees believes and speaks into a life with potential. I spent nearly 20 years in the Philippines Africa and Iraq. --I can say without question, it isn't about the geographical location as much as the attitude and response to very difficult situations.. unfortunately here in the USA, the response /mindset /effort is far less than the other areas of the world. I could share a lot more, but I don't have the time. So I would say, invest in the potential that you can see in others - envision encourage empower others .
