@@blade7506 Nestorius (/ˌnɛsˈtɔːriəs/; in Ancient Greek: Νεστόριος; c. 386 - c. 451) was the Archbishop of Constantinople from 10 April 428 to August 431. A Christian theologian, several of his teachings in the fields of Christology and Mariology were seen as controversial and caused major disputes. He was condemned and deposed from his see by the Council of Ephesus, the third Ecumenical Council, in 431. His teachings included rejection of the title Theotokos (Mother of God), used for Mary, mother of Jesus, which indicated his preference for the concept of a loose prosopic union of two natures (divine and human) of Christ, over the concept of their full hypostatic union. That brought him into conflict with Cyril of Alexandria and other prominent churchmen of the time, who accused him of heresy.

So then he wasn’t human, not fully. The Bible is pretty clear that all humans sin and have temptation to sin. That’s sorta an inherent quality of being human. To not have that quality would be to forgo a massive part of being human. So he wasn’t really human. He was a divine being pretending to be human in a human shape, but he never actually walked as a man, never lived how man lives, never experienced what man experiences.
@juliomenendez9458 Жыл бұрын
@@gryph0n55 The argument with Jesus is that he was the only sinless person. He was divine, but still constrained to a human body so still felt “weakness” like human emotion and temptation.
@gryph0n55 Жыл бұрын
@@juliomenendez9458 Again, "sinless" is in direct contradiction to "human". It's not like a common aspect of being human, it's inherent. The bible is very explicitly and repeatedly clear that every human, without exception, is sinful and has temptation to sin. It wants you to know so badly that all humans are sinful that it goes as far as to say people are naturally born sinful, that way you can't even excuse literal babies from being sinful, that's how far the bible goes to ensure you know that sin can't be separated from humans. If you have a "sinless person", then they're not human. Also "so still felt “weakness” like human emotion and temptation", the bible also makes it repeatedly known that temptation to sin in itself is a sin. So if Jesus was experiencing human temptations then he was still sinning. This is another example of the bible being more than direct about the fact that being tempted to sin is itself at minimum still a sin, and at maximum equal to the act of sin itself you're being tempted to commit. Either way, Jesus experiencing human emotions and temptations would still come with sin.

Nietzsche proposed that humanity was at a crossroads where we have the choice to become Super Men or revert to Animal Savagery, if so then the darkened coom-brained individual has truly chosen to gallop brazenly towards an unexamined and barbarous life. He was tempted in every way, but who ever looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery in his heart, therefore Jesus never looked at a woman with lust and by extension never lusted.

@@podomuss its simple logic bud Hebrews 4:15 [15] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who *in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.* Jesus did not sin, to look with lust is to commit adultery in your heart which is sin, therefore Jesus did not lust. It did irk me that they just glossed over that. I mean I’ve been a Christian for over a decade and idk whether or not Jesus was asexual (I also don’t really care; if anything I think it strays massively from the point) but their implication was very rude when you think about it.
@Zacvh1 Жыл бұрын
@@Caleb-zl4wk yeah he doesn’t have lustful temptations because he’s perfect so the modern idea of asexual could describe him. The lust isn’t because we are human it’s because of original sin so when we overcome it we are not less than human it is actually the opposite and we become better humans more in line with what god wants us to become and what his original vision of what a human is

“To deny he had sexual temptations implies he wasn’t fully human” Asexuals:
@thesalvager3020 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, but for the answer to be "Jesus was an asexual", the evangelicals would have to acknowledge that asexuals exist and they're not gonna do that.
@Caleb-zl4wk Жыл бұрын
@@thesalvager3020 evangelical here and I don’t know whether or not he was but my guess would be no… because the first claim lines up more accurately with the idea that he was tempted in the same ways that all of us are tempted. So I would imagine he would have been tempted at some point. Not to say I dislike or don’t believe in asexuals or whatever. The Bible doesn’t say that, solid theology doesn’t say that, and anyone who does say that in the name of my religion is a liar and speaking out of their own personal bias.

I'm no biblical scholar but I know that Jesus was and still is the only perfect human being, free of sin and temptation. He did not sin, and he had no desire to sin. The person above used the argument that, well Jesus was human therefore he was flawed. However, this implies that flaws are a necessity in every human, when in fact, flaws are not a necessity but rather a weakness. And while those weaknesses are inherent in the majority of humans, as I mentioned before, Christ was the perfect human. So yeah, explain that heretic (dabs).
