I'm on vacation in Singapore from Colorado and waited until the wee hours of the morning for this to drop so I could order right away. I was really pleasantly surprised to get the PDF version included for free. It's great! I was hoping the deluxe edition would be in my price range but couldn't justify an extra $150. I agree with your review.

I was luck to get the book at Magic Live. Spent weeks doing multiple read throughs lots of great stuff ... but I'm not ready to replace the Aronson in my head. At Magic Live I got to ask Master Jay did he known of any system to maintain two stacks? His answer was pretty nuts and blots : shift the second stack up by 100 so 126 could be queen of hearts ihen or ihair for gueen of Diamonds. Was inspired to work up a magic square out of Aronson Stack very doable . Look forward to your progress and thoughts on stack transition.

This is a dynamite release. I am at the advanced age where I seldom add to my library. I’ve become pretty darn cranky about the products I purchase. VI is the only magic company that I’m willing to buy from sight unseen. To date, they have never mailed it in. There’s 4 hours of instruction in addition to shows and, of course, the book. It was a no brainer for me with the ebook included for Black Friday. I feel this s destined to be a true classic. Something I rarely feel.

As a long time fan of Joshua Jay, it was a no-brainer to opt for the deluxe edition. Thanks for the insights on the value his work on memdeck routines. Now I just need to forget everything I learned on previous memdeck methods.

On the contrary, you can adapt a lot of this material and the system to your existing stack. However, he makes a very compelling case for why his stack is superior and has a lot to offer

Ugh, I have just nailed Mnemonica after months of practice and now there's a New Stack in Town? Having said that, this looks gorgeous and extremely tempting, especially for the effects that are not stack dependent. Adding to wishlist now!

Haha, we've all been there. Don't worry, your Mnemonica work won't be for naught - you can still learn some exceptional card magic with the tricks that are not stack dependent

Well, looks like I will be getting myself another book on Mem Deck work. Not sure if I would consider my interest in the Mem Deck an obsession or an addiction. And Jeff, if you ever need more Mem/Stack Deck ideas (as if you don’t have enough material already lol), I’ve collected 400+ pages worth of some personal Mem Deck Work I’ve created over the years. You never know when you need that spark of creativity.

Wow-- What an informative and enjoyable review. Thank you!! You answered this but just wanted to make sure-- If I currently use Tamariz stack and have zero interest in cramming a new stack into my head-- are there strong, new effects in here that will work w Tamariz stack? Thanks!!!
@EruditeMagic14 күн бұрын
💯 you'll learn [strong] tricks that you can use with Mnemonica. In fact, I'll be shocked if you don't immediately want to deploy 'the system' with your preferred stack. I know I'm planning some work with Aronson!

Dang it! You make me want to buy it. Can I buy additional decks? If not, what do we do when we wear out the deck just learning the stack?

Yes, The Particle Pack is sold individually and as a brick.

I don't need to want another book! 😅 Roughly how much of the material can be done with any stack, like a percentage? Is it possible (if you're not a genius) to know multiple stacks without mixing them up?
@jonathannelson758414 күн бұрын
Also, great video!!
@EruditeMagic13 күн бұрын
I did a quick look through of the close-up set. Basically, all but two of the tricks can be done with any stack. The X-ray trick says 'particle specific,' but I don't see why it couldn't be done with any stack. I didn't go through all of the others, but that is a significant majority for the close-up set. I feel like a lot of the other stuff is adaptable as well

It really can’t handle close inspection in my opinion, but Josh will convince you that doesn’t matter. He makes excellent points.
@EruditeMagic14 күн бұрын
What Steven said. It won't withstand close scrutiny, but Josh shares a bunch of ways you can display it, but better yet, how to convince your audience the deck is mixed by involving them

The Daily Magician just released a new project on the mem deck called the The Skyscraper Method 2- any idea if these are remotely similar?
@EruditeMagic13 күн бұрын
Nope, I haven't the foggiest. However, I believe their methods are a way to memorize something, not an actual stack. But, perhaps someone more educated on this than I can enlighten us

I just thought that the collector edition costing 150$ more is too much money for what you're getting! You get the Partical system notebook, the Atom Deck and a book sleeve.... that will cost more (150$) that the actual main book (100$) ? I just don't get it in term of pricing... 175$ will be a good pricing in my opinion! By the way...great review again!
@EruditeMagic13 күн бұрын
It's not a logical thing, it's a collector's thing. If you have to ask, you probably aren't the target audience 😂 Thanks for the kind words!
@stephanel663713 күн бұрын
@@EruditeMagic Even as a collector point of view...most of the Collector editions of magic books are different from the regular book! It's true for Notes From a Fellow Traveller, Mark Chandaue's HARPACROWN,Mark Chandaue's HARPACROWN Too (collector are hardcover instead of paperback!) Then you got something "different" from the regular edition, better quality, that's always the point of Collector edition! And yes, I'm the target from collector edition, I'm buying magic books since 1991! But for premium price, I'm expecting something better than the regular edition! that's all
@EruditeMagic13 күн бұрын
@stephanel6637 I want to make sure it's clear: you are receiving a whole other book with additional routines. Many deluxe editions are just a leather bound cover to the normal book.

@jabbadac11 күн бұрын
One of Josh's main demonstrations is cutting to any named card. I already use a gimmick deck (52 to 1) to do something very similar, so its harder to justify this. I understand that there's a variety of of tricks you can perform... but unless you're doing an entire card based act, you don't really need it.
@EruditeMagic11 күн бұрын
I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. Your argument applies to any magic book purchase... If you are in the market for a memdek and the power it offers, this is a great book. If you are not, then it's probably not 🤷🤣
@jabbadac11 күн бұрын
My point doesn't not apply to "any magic book". This book is selling a system, not just a collection of tricks and must be examined as such. $100 is not a small amount of money, so you need ask if this particular system does something that you couldn't do with preexisting options.
@jabbadac11 күн бұрын
Yes, it can be memorized in a fraction of the time of many of the established stacks, but it doesn't hold up to even a casual observation as a randomized mix like the others do and that's a huge trade off. Even si stebbons looks more fair.

@@EruditeMagicI’m not here to blow sunshine, but questioning your integrity is just not fair. You are the best reviewer since Jeff Buzzbee, the primary difference being you don’t appear to be a world class prick. Your lists and “hidden gems” columns are just excellent. I genuinely appreciate your willingness to deal with the “value proposition”. Most reviewers refuse to do so, which is just plain cowardly. Take care.
