In this interview titled Joshua Maponga on Africa and the Bible, Christianity & Western Culture, philosopher, academic, theologian, social commentator and public speaker of note Joshua Marara Maponga III revisits some of his thoughts on how Africa and the Bible relate.
This collection of soundbites from his last interview on Something Nice with Dinano, is a selection of a few clips where he focuses on how Africa and Africans relate to God of the Bible, what informs their spirituality and their connection with their ancestors. He brings forth certain claims on how Africans present themselves before God, saying Africans do not worship ancestors, but they do acknowledge them whenever they pray.
He continues to emphasize his assertion that Africa's relation with God precedes colonization and the advent of christianity, citing different African names for God as a way of showing that these people have been having communion with God.
The Gospel according to Maponga is about Africa and how Africa links with the history of the Bible and in his understanding, Africa plays a significant role in the Bible and prophecy, but because of how the gospel was presented to the continent by the Europeans, these African related truths have been neglected.
Bishop Joshua Maponga says Africans believe in a monotheistic God. Maponga is not only a theologian but is also a prominent commentator on news in South Africa and the African continent.

Joshua Maponga, uuuumm! Having drunk from the well called Ellen White cum SDA, he's become an incurable heretic now taking perversion to another level. The Bible was never about Africans, Euros, Asians, etc. God used whosoever is in there to portray one guy, His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. So this trying to see how you fit in, which prophecy is about your race/tribe, etc is a big miss. JM III is better off using his intellectual prowess, eloquence (which he has in abundance BTW) on pure politics.

This is so awesome to watch I’m a Christian and African(Malawian🇲🇼) I am fostered by a white South African lady which I love to bits and I was also raised by my biological parents whom I love so much and thank God for. Being in a white home has made me love my ethnicity and I know that who I am is for a reason, that God did not make a mistake. Ancestry is very important, I find as a Christian it is important to know who you come from because there are many struggles that happen in your life that dates back to a forefather that you now have to deal with (exodus 20:4-5).But also positive things that you get from your forefathers . I will point out that I do not ask my ancestors for help or commit any sacrifices for them because I believe that the only way to God is through Jesus Christ, and that He sent His Holy spirit to guide us.

@@rodrickmadangu6122 Greetings Rodrick, I hope that you are well and saved through JESUS , though I do not get which point your question is based but maybe I can explain further my statement. There are a lot of scholars who uses their knowledge or rather apply their knowledge wrongly. They misquote scriptures to manipulate many, remember the Bible warns us about False Prophets in the last days, yes we were also taught on discerning the spirits and the reason to that was, if we do not have the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD, we might be led astray. So these people were once the Children of GOD, but due to too much study and information they tend to rely on their wisdom rather than the Wisdom from the HOLY SPIRIT. I have experience something wonderful with the HOLY SPIRIT that even if I do not go to a Bible school, HE teaches Me things which those who went to Bible schools do not know of, that Revelation kind of Dimension. JESUS left Us with the HOLY SPIRIT and the Bible tells Us that HE teaches All, so that is why IAM able to see things differently led by THE HOLY SPIRIT. The LORD keep You.

@@vestinemusanabera5327 The Council of Nicaea 325 AD: Constantine “never acquired a solid theological knowledge” and “depended heavily on his advisers in religious questions” (Catholic Encyclopedia, New Edition, vol. xii, p. 576, passim). According to Eusebeius (260-339), Constantine noted that among the presbyterian factions “strife had grown so serious, vigorous action was necessary to establish a more religious state”, but he could not bring about a settlement between rival god factions (Life of Constantine, op. cit., pp. 26-8). His advisers warned him that the presbyters’ religions were “destitute of foundation” and needed official stabilization (ibid.). Constantine saw in this confused system of fragmented dogmas the opportunity to create a new and combined State religion, neutral in concept, and to protect it by law. When he conquered the East in 324 he sent his Spanish religious adviser, Osius of Córdoba, to Alexandria with letters to several bishops exhorting them to make peace among themselves. The mission failed and Constantine, probably at the suggestion of Osius, then issued a decree commanding all presbyters and their subordinates “be mounted on asses, mules and horses belonging to the public, and travel to the city of Nicaea” in the Roman province of Bithynia in Asia Minor. They were instructed to bring with them the testimonies they orated to the rabble, “bound in leather” for protection during the long journey, and surrender them to Constantine upon arrival in Nicaea (The Catholic Dictionary, Addis and Arnold, 1917, “Council of Nicaea” entry). 👉Jesus Christ was created at the COUNCIL OF NICAEA 325 AD👈 It was this gathering of 318 Presbyters that Christianity was born. Emperor Constantine had been initiated into the religious order of Sol Invictus, a cult that regarded the SUN as the one and only Supreme God (the other was Mithraism). It was that infantile body of men who were responsible for the commencement of a new religion 👉“CHRISTIANITY”👈 and the theological creation of 👉“JESUS CHRIST.”👈 Constantine’s intentions at Nicaea was 👉to create an entirely “NEW GOD”👈 for his empire who would unite all religious factions under one deity. Presbyters were asked to debate and decide who their new god would be…the name of 53 Gods were tabled for discussion. They balloted for one year and five months to determine the matter. They balloted down to a short list of five prospects; CAESAR, KRISHNA, MITHRA, HORUS, and ZEUS. Constantine however ruled that the name of Druid god, HESUS (also called ESUS), be joined with the Eastern Saviour god KRISHNA (Krishna is Sanskrit for Christ). The worship of CHRIST carry the wicked, KUNDALINI SPIRIT, that is upon those that bow down and worship “JESUS CHRIST” in the Christian church, and thus “HESUS KRISHNA” would be the official name of the new….Roman God. A vote was taken and it was with a majority show of hands (161 to 157), that both divinities become..”ONE GOD.” Because 👉there was no letter “J” in alphabets until around the sixteenth century👈, the name subsequently 👉evolved into “JESUS CHRIST.”👈

In the bible when they prayed, before the Messiah Jesus had come and died and arose from death, they would say they pray to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; they did not by any means say they pray to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Now the Messiah has come, Jesus Christ, and he is greater than Abraham Isaac and Jacob. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the connection between us and God the Father, not our ancestors. This is what the bible teaches. I believe what the bible teaches 🙏🏾❤️

I withdrew from the catholic church when I was 17 years old after I studied economics, history and geography before even joining the university college because I immediately realised that the international economic system was very unfair to Africa and other developing countries. I stopped giving tithes to the parish coz the priests would use the money to drink and date young girls. I instead would give the money to some poor people in my village that I knew needed help. I started questioning why the parish priests were not helping the poor, but rather the poor helping the parish priests by giving them money, food, food crops, chicken and goats every Sundays. My reasoning as a 17 year old boy was that the poor people should instead sell their subsistence farm produce and use the money to start even small scale businesses, buy the basics of life (salt, sugar, soap, and food that they could not produce. The biggest hinderance to Africa's development has been and is christianity and Islam which never existed in Africa before the Arab and European slave trade, and colonisation. Many Africans in Africa and in the diaspora waste about 5 hours on averege to pray in big churches and cathedrals every week(sundays, although some pray on saturdays and sundays). This is the equivalent of 20 hours a month, and 240 hours a year. If you apply an hourly rate (in the currency were an African resides to the 20 hours/ 240 hours, then you will get how much income he or she loses in a month/ year. And the churches don't give you that money. As spiritual Africans by nature, we can pray from our homes or anywhere as the so called bible says that god and jesus are everywhere. In the West, McDonalds and shops are opened all day long on saturdays and sundays and that is when they sell more and make biggest profits because workers will have two whole days to do their shopping. This is a very clever capitalist system which Africa unfortunately have failed to take advantage of. But in Africa, many shops and restaurants are closed on sundays because the owners will go to their respective churches to pray. Africans must stop this mentality and start to work hard even on sundays also and make money. Let Africans experiment this work and business model and we will see a huge improvement in income and poverty will be alleviated. I don't buy the argument that money is not everything, and that money cannot make one happy because without money you cannot have access to the basics of life, you cannot pay your children's tuitions fees. My view is that poverty does not make one happy. African students must start to work on saturdays and sundays just like in the West so that they can also earn income save to improve their earnings. But this will require Public Private Partnership model (state intervention, public and private company commitments ) to create the jobs because Africa has the resources ( land and capital). This is my perspective. Your suggestions are welcome to help improve living conditions in Africa.

You know somethings but have not found the truth. You like most Africans and the diaspora don't value knowledge. Have not learned about your colonizers who have colonized most the world. Who then take the colonized people knowledge and pass it off as theirs. The Holy Bible was written in Africa, by African, about African, for African. The colonizer lied and claimed as it their own. If you had read the Bible you would know it talks about Egypt and Ethiopia and that it's over 3,000 years old. The Europeans as you know them today didn't even exist.

I always tell myself that there is only one reason and cause for this creation and life we see around which is completely different from what the white men brought to Africa. If the white men can come up with subjects as complex as math and science then think of a bible that holds less than 1500 pages. Plus the bible itself tells us that adding or removing words from the bible is sin but the international bible research institutions adds and remove verses from the bible, So them don't sin? Are they infallible? Christianity replaced slavery because the white man saw the abolition of slavery as a serious threat that could lead Europe into starvation and bankruptcy, I was not there but these people made a conference that debated on how to come up with a way to soften the hearts and minds of Africans so that they can continue getting minerals and other raw materials. Think of how inhuman and cruel slavery is but you find that it is legal in the bible.........Mr maponga together we are in this fight against facts that does not exist...
