We love it there, and Northwoods is great too. But to your point, Heights is literally 3 mins from our house...LOL. After you deduct the price of gas that I'd have to pay though to get to Northwoods, it works out. HAHA

The $30 goes to help clean up after all the jackholes that visited the park over the week. Lots of trash, illegal fires and campsites. You two got a good spot outside the park...I've been there before. I was working during the per-see-ed meteor showers. A great time to be in JT, DVNP, or the glorious Owens Valley. Safe travels.

Surprised you didn't encounter any issues filming in Joshua Tree now they've clamped down on commercial filming, which includes small KZbin creators, without proper permits. I understand this will be, or already is applied to all USFS and BLM public lands.
