Skyzone Sky04X with the 16:9 image has actually a 42 degree FOV, compared to HDzero and Walksnail's 46, so it's a little bit smaller. Oscar Liang has a pretty nice FOV comparison tool.
@JoshuaBardwell2 жыл бұрын
It definitely doesn't look smaller to me, when looking in the goggles.
@pfeerick2 жыл бұрын
But it *has* to be smaller... since when displaying a 16:9 image, a 16:9 native screen with 46 FOV stays 46 FOV, whereas a 4:3 native screen with 46 FOV will have a smaller FOV due to diagonal being smaller. In this regard HDO2 and O4X would be the same but HD0 would win for biggest FOV @ 16:9... no? however, the real question there is how much difference do those 4 degrees really make?
@alffpv2 жыл бұрын
I think the real question is how accurate even are the manufacturer quoted FOV values
@nzmfpv2 жыл бұрын
@@pfeerick It doesn't make a huge difference. I tried to post the link to the FOV comparison tool but my comment gets deleted everytime. You can search for Oscar Liang FOV comparison tool. Its really easy to compare FOVs with that

@@nzmfpv I also like the FOV comparison tool, but you have to take it with a grain of salt. It takes manufacturer reported FOV as accurate and then runs some math. There is also value in putting a camera in the screen to show the actual effect of the optics etc on the FOV.

I don't think the 4:3/16:9 option changes the aspect ratio put out by the vRX. It was originally put in the menu to control the aspect ratio of the camera, but it's been a "dead option" since Walksnail has never made a camera that supports 4:3. I have tested it in the past, and I tested it with the vRX, and in all cases, it seems to have no effect.

Bought a skyzone 04x last year as my first fpv googles in the hopes that in the future a more affordable or flexible digital system would appear and I could still use the skyzones with that (didn't want to shell out the absurd price for DJI and the closed ecosystem they have, and also the way they break compatibility with older products). Really happy to see that walksnail would be a good way to test digital.
@KOrnhOliO12 жыл бұрын
A good way to test digital? How is 46ms latency a good way to test digital FPV? You really think you'll like flying with 46ms BEST CASE SCENARIO latency? Like JB said, that's the least you'll ever feel and most of the time, when actually flying FPV, you'll be getting 10 - 15ms more latency...so, more like 56 - 61ms latency in actual use. Not flyable really unless you just fly wings. Also, the 04X's cost $529.99 and the OLD price on the DJI V2 goggles was $569.99 with 4 antennas and a battery. So, how did you feel the V2's goggles were an "absurd price?" At least you would have gotten BY FAR the best image quality, range with clarity, and penetration digital FPV has ever achieved...and for only $40 more than what your 04X's cost. But, would it have been more when I don't think the Skyzone goggles come with antennas or a battery. Plus, the new price on the V2 goggles is only $429 USD! Just so ya know, that "breaking of compatibility with older products" is old news! DJI now supports forward AND backward compatibility with their new 03 digital system and the Vista/Link VTX's from the past. Both the V2 goggles and the Goggles 2 work with both of these VTX's. Full compatibility and then some added little features we weren't expecting but DJI gave users anyway.

From what I see here, some new Walksnail Avatar HD googles with analog FPV module support (any FatShark compatible module like TBS Fusion or RapidFire) would be a bomb. I hope people consider just getting the Walksnail/Dominator goggles if they haven't purchased a WS VRX yet. The VRX is a cheaper alternative to getting Walksnail if you already have goggles, but if you use the system a lot, it's worth it just to get the goggles so you don't have to deal with all the cables, bulk, weight, batteries, and accessories which can easily cost over $100 when you finally figure out your cable/battery/mounting setup and storage/carrying case setups. @@MoonManMetals I don't feel latency until i go behind something. Feels like it drops off a cliff fast. I assumed it was due to the shit walksnail antenna. I'll test with slow-mo and an LED tonight. I'll follow-up here.

Did you try 100 fps on the skyzone 04x? I tried it and got an image at 720/100 fps 25 megabit though the image was skewed which is probably a result of overscan.

Maybe the same as on my Cobra XV2.......I assume the VRX HDMI has a weak signal. As soon as I put a HDMI splitter between two mini cables , the picture starts working, The cobra was tested on a sat receiver, H98Max tv box and my notebook and works flawlessly. Mailed already two times to WS and we will see how it will going on. Fingers crossed.

That best case latency, from the chart, and then adding 10 - 15ms for flying FPV and you'll get the idea that really high latency is going to be a huge concern.

I have to say im generally pretty latency sensitive and i cant really feel it with my HDO2 and the VRX module. Wheras for instance when i switched from r9 to elrs it was like someone dripped some sort of magic gimbal butter into my radio and i could feel it as soon as i started deflecting the sticks after takeoff. I was nervous after watching your initial review as i was still waiting on my preorder, but i have been kinda blown away by how nice it is to fly. Ive started doing some fairly technical proxy stuff the last time i went out freestyling (only flown the system like maybe 5 or 6 times so far still) and i havent once felt like latency got in the way of me being able to hit a gap etc. All the clips in my most recent upload besides the stuff at the giant smokestack, are flown with the VRX module if anyone cares to take a gander.

Eachine EV900D. My friend is using them with Walksnail vrx. Picture is REALLY great, that 1080p lcd screen in there is great - bright and clear. And humongus. Too big for me. Doesn't work with 100 fps, but latency is lower than using them as analog goggles.
@KOrnhOliO12 жыл бұрын
But, as you probably know, the latency is most likely right around the BEST CASE SCENARIO on his chart of around 75ms latency. Like JB said, that's the least you'll ever feel and most of the time, when actually flying FPV, you'll be getting 10 - 15ms more latency...so, more like 85 - 91ms latency in actual use. Not flyable for FPV really, unless you just fly wings.
@mihavuk2 жыл бұрын
@@KOrnhOliO1 I can't give any numbers. I was using EV900D as analog years ago and I felt the latency. And I was flying them as analog goggles few times recently since my friend is having them. There is a setting deep in the menues where you disable certain option and after that there is less latency using them as analog goggles. I definatelly felt that. Latency was still big (for analog), but it was better. And I was flying them recently since he bought Walksnail vrx and there was less latency for sure compared with using them as analog with that option disabled. I would say little more than using high quality with DJI. I would definatelly pick that over analog. And again, that gigantic 1080p lcd screen in there is the best looking lcd screen I have ever flown. And I did flew a lot of various fpv goggles. When Walksnail sorts out zoom out option it will be even better. That is, if you can live with 50+ ms latency.

Going against the hype if you have HDO2 I think they are super optimised for low HDMI input lag and thus maybe just get a hdzero vrx then get yourself a second hand DJI v2. Use DJI for long range and dense bando flying and hdzero for rage flying/racing.

HDZero VRX is stuck at 60 with higher latency. I hear it's a hardware issue. Don't expect parity with the goggles. You'll have to decide which tech option has legs and invest in that
