Wired Sennheiser gaming headsets are hands down the best gaming headsets on a budget. They’re always my recommendation to anyone that doesn’t want to spend too much or complicate things with amps or separate mics. I also love the automatic mute when you flip the mic up.

Wired IEMs sound better and are more affordable but you'd need a separate mic which I would say is better because there's no crosstalk that some (or all) headsets have when the mic and audio going through the same cable and the people on the other side of voice chat can hear themselves.

@@Qimchiy I’ve never had wire related problems with crosstalk or anyone I’ve talked to in Discord. If you did, it may be faulty headphones or a faulty DAC/ADC. IEMs vs Headphones is pretty subjective. I use open backs whenever I can. But I would rather wear IEMs over closed backs. I also use the blue Truthear Zeros with my SteamDeck and VR because they have decent imaging for the price, and aren’t tiring if worn for hours. The KZ S10 Pro X is a close second. They make micro boom mic IEM cables too. Most of the time, it’s either HD650 or HD800s with a Røde NT1 at the desk for everything from gaming to music.

@@AZREDFERN oh same! I use the Sundara while gaming with friends and the KZ PR2 for solo. The nature of open-backs makes it easier to talk. The crosstalk thing happens when mic sensitivity is high enough. The other side of voice chat will quietly hear themselves. Usually happens when the person using the headset is quiet and discord decides the quiet crosstalk is loud enough to pass through the noise gate or noise cancellation.

I have a handful of different senns, with the most expensive set being the HD700, but in most cases I'd recommend the v-moda crossfades over the sennheiser's as gaming headphones (assuming budget is between $100-200). The only exception to is IF and only if someone wants open back headphones and is willing to buy a $100+ audio DAC with virtual surround sound (Example being the Sennheiser GSX 1000).

@@deuswulf6193 get a good simple small DAC and use HeSuVi instead. A16 Realizer surround sound bested many of the Virtual Surround Sound options in terms of pinpointing the enemy. Personally I add a ton of compression on top of that so it gets a but messy but at least I can hear quiet footsteps loud and loud gunshots not so loud.

@@velvetjones8634 For my occasional basshead needs I use my Mod house Argon MK3 or my Fiio FHE: Eclipse, or my car sound system with a sundown audio subwoofer. I also remember trying out the Skullcandy Crusher 360 headphones. Those things had a comical amount of bass that made me almost buy them. You could turn the bass up and down with a touch bar on one side of the headphones. They could literally rattle my teeth lol.

I think when factoring-in the price and the fact these are wireless, it is clear why these are sounding like this. It's around 90 EUR, wireless (for regular-coloured version). They have decent build quality, OK microphone and as I understand Microsoft's proprietary wireless technology (and Bluetooth). In that budget it's not that bad, especially with so much side-utility. However, I wish it was even 2x the price with better sound quality. But in the 90 EUR, it's clear they had to save a buck somewhere. You can of course just connect regular headset to the gamepad, but that is not a full wireless experience. For most people it's probably good enough to plug a wire, though. They are pretty good if you want to save a buck and get and game in a louder room. It has a decent passive noise isolation. Microphone has an option to cut-out the background noise - but you need to dig for that in Xbox's accessory settings. I think it is easy to oversee, but for people like me, it was a motivation to keep these Microsoft headphones despite bad sound quality. I feel like they have lots of utility that are not present in headsets like PC38X. They sound very bad for music and movies, but for playing with friends (where I put comms on high volume), they are serviceable/good enough. I even played Cyberpunk on them and it was a good enough experience for me. Also, the comfort stuff is not very bad, but they clamp really hard which can produce headaches.

I don't think Starfield's visuals or "nasa punk" style are very stand out to me but the themed merch looks clean.

Gaming audio is a tough area to deal with in my experience. I have tried to convince people that gaming headsets are sub-par and that better quality can be had from non-gaming audio products. But most people think nothing about buying things like this headset, or Astros etc and yet look at you like you're crazy for buying HD6XX, for example.

I bought this yesterday and so far, here's what I've noticed. 1. With regular audio sound, (music from my phone, KZbin videos, etc ) it seems to be on par with some of the better headsets I've ever used. 2. Visually, as stated in the video, very cool. 3. So far, the audio in game play is ....not great? I feel like I'm getting too much of an echo when playing games like COD.

Of all my headphones, from HD600 to Momentums others, I can JUST about get both ear cups round and over my ears...barely...Because of this, I seldom use it. It's just not comfortable for me. There was a reddit thread somewhere where someone posted a very severe EQ adjustment to make these sound good. Can confirm, setting the EQ in xbox does make them sound fine. Not great but fine.

I have the regular one. It been beat up i broke the mic brace so the mic was dangling by a wire and the mute button came out i super glued it back together now it's battery barely lasts as long as it came out the box. Time for a replacement 😊

I just have a really mixed relationship with gaming headsets. Even just tried getting the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless a few months back, returned them almost instantly as they sounded just straight terrible. I got them as I saw reviews saying they sounded "audiophile grade" and I really wanted noise canceling headphones for my computer without the massive input lag of bluetooth. But those things didn't even have functional noise canceling (it was actually a bit quieter without as it had a hiss with it, they had basically no sound stage, and they were really bright. Even if I EQed them it wouldn't solve all the problems. Seems to be a common issue with most gaming headphones sounding terrible. Sad as the old SADES SA-709 and SA-710 I got for $20 when I was like 13 sounded decent. They look hideous and weren't remotely a comfortable design, but they sounded pretty good. Ironically the SA-710 still had a clearer microphone than most headsets today, and again that was a $20 headset and really junk too. Kinda sad how little progress has been made on higher quality gaming headsets.

@Le_Mon9 I said the reason I tried the Nova pro was to have noise cancelling. I don't really care too much for wireless headphones over wired, I'd probably leave them wired for power anyways to not ruin the charging port. It's the reason my brother still uses a Sony HW700 that's like 10 years old. Leaving it plugged in protects the port. Destroyed a few wireless headsets from plugging and unplugging. That was actually another reason I tried the Nova pros as they had hot swap batteries. Those pads are far less likely to wear out than a port and it could still be wired if I needed.

​@@Skylancer727Noise cancelling is gimmicky for gaming. Unless you're listening to audio whilst on the train, vaccuuming or washing the dishes then it's just not that necessary. Any closer back with at least medium level volume should easily cancel out most noise.

Can’t agree. Imo the Xbox Wireless Headset has a great bang for your buck. I had sever much more expensive and allegedly high quality headsets before for up to triple the price. None of the headsets were so easy to connect, had such a great battery life or such a good sound like the Xbox wireless headset. I recommend this headset to my friends and no one had your opinion. All said it’s a great sound and features for way less price. Maybe you have special elite ears but for my peasant ears it’s just awesome. I can highly recommend it. And yea the visuals of this specific Starfield edition are truly out of this world. No I don’t work at Microsoft and I don’t own any MS stocks or get paid to do that. I was just shocked about your so different opinion about the sound quality. No offense!

I know you're specifically asking for ones with a microphone but the Modmic is still a dang good addition to any wired headset. It sounds pretty much as good as an built-in mic can sound and you can stick it into any headset you have available. DT770 is still pretty decent, especially with its large earcups and good comfort.

i hate that this headset always turns on the xbox when i turn the headset on. It's nice if you only use it for xbox. But when i use it both for me pc and xbox, it's super anooying to have to turn off the xbox since i dont want it to turn on all the time. Is there a fix for this?

@@talking_mudcrab It took me a while to get used to compared to open back to be honest. I used to use Blackshark V2 Pro for wireless gaming and it's on par with those, maybe a little better. But, the sound is much better than on those. I have a wired pair of open back Edition XS headphones which are the chef's kiss of soundstage.

have the "original one", and with out the Atmos app, sound is not good. with the Atmos app, sound is not to bad. Is there any other headphones that connects wireless to the xbox without a dongle?

Good headsets are good for gaming as well. I really don't see the appeal besides the aesthetics. They do look pretty cool. Though I use 3.5mm Earpods for almost everything I do on my PC.

I would really like your opinion on good wireless alternatives that work with Xbox which look nice and have similar features. It must be a headset that works wirelessly with Xbox and does not cost over $85 usd. And is known for half-decent cheap sound. I just tried to find one and couldn’t. That’s when I realized why you compared this with wired 😂
