I love how they show Okuyasu being a genuinely decent person. He scolds Josuke when he thinks he's going to abandon Koichi. He's really a sweet guy that's just in a very unfortunate situation... His older brother, who has his respect and complete trust, has the "good" motive of wanting to fix their father. Okuyasu doesn't like that others are dying to make it happen, but he loves his brother and doesn't have the required experience to be independent, so he goes along with it. Tragic, but heartwarming all the same when we see how much he cares about his friends in the future.

A subtle little thing I appreciate about DiU, compared to the other parts is that stuff happens in the background while people talk. They're no longer frozen during monologues or conversations. Also stuff happens in the background in general. Like Josuke walking past Okuyasu after he starts talking with his brother, or Okuyasu's brother dragging Koichi away when Josuke is busy with Okuyasu.

Araki can fall into the many pitfalls and tropes of manga, but I appreciate that he works to avoid that when he can. I guess Part 4 is essentially that. We go from immortal vampire with time altering powers to the guy with the weakest stand of Part 4, whose greatest power was being unknown to the protagonists and not leaving trace of his actions, only losing through sheer idiocy and bad luck.

Yeah, it's something that I noticed and loved when first watching Part 4. I know that long monologues during action have been a trope with anime, but I do find it a bit unrealistic and falls into the 'Tell, don't Show' form of storytelling. It was even an issue that I had with Parts 1 and 3, even though I do love those parts. Like, Speedwagon, shut the fuck up for 15 minutes and let the audience see and figure out how Jonathan is going to defeat Dio. You don't have to shout it for god knows how long.

Now that I think about, Josuke and Okuyasu are basically the good version of DIO and Vanilla Ice. Don’t know why people say Okuyasus stand is really OP. The ability to remove any space is quite strong but it’s so physically slow (compared to other short range stands) that Josuke managed to dodge it in real time without his stand.

Just dodging the attack isn't enough. As long as Okuyasu uses [THE HAND], a chunk of space will be replaced. If one were to dodge it, he could simply remove a different chunk of space to cause some other action to occur, like when he fought [RED HOT CHILI PEPPER].

David Hong it’s like you didn’t watch the video... josuke dodged and didn’t get moved the slightest in the direction the space was scraped and even if he did then what? It’s not like It would be easily able to hit followup hits afterwards. If you ask me vanilla ice’s stand is a way stronger version of okuyasus stand. You literally can’t damage it without dying and is hella lot faster. Not to mention it can protect it’s user by bringing it to a none existent world.

@@trydodis690 I totally agree you bro, I also don't understand why they consider Okuyasu's stand so OP when he is very slow even in a close range. Cream is way more versatile than the Hand, it has better defense, it's faster, and it's more unpredictable.

I think this is the only time in all of JoJo where talking actually takes up time. Normally they would be talking for 30 seconds and only 2 seconds would have passed, but in here Josuke almost healed Koichi while the brothers were chatting.
