My reason why to journal 1) want to be organised 2) want to have a pretty notebook to carry around 3) heard somewhere genuise + successful people carry it around with them 😚 4) But most importantly so that I can store my memories and look at them fondly when I am older.

*I've started two journals, one that I fill with random thoughts that I get when my depression and anxiety take over. The second I started for my little brother who's 10. I've raised him since the day he was born when my mom was diagnosed with cancer. He's my world and I don't want kids because to me he's my one and only baby, so I've been filling that book with fun moments with him, how I felt when he was born, ect. I plan on giving it to him when he's 18 or 21. That way I have more moments to put in♥️*

I know it has been 2 years since you left this comment but I was touched by it: I have diagnosed moderate depression episode and ADHD, I also deal with anxiety often and to hear how you still manage to keep your little brother in a life surrounded by love despite it all it really hit home, my big sister has been a second mother ever since I got diagnosed, closer than ever to my needs and I am so grateful, I am sure that your brother is grateful as well. Thank you for sharing!

I've been journaling since I was 13 (I'm 23) but recently I've developed such an anxiety about it. I think I've lost the 'why' beyond having a negative vent - it worked so much better when I was focused on my own growth. Thank you for these tips!
@NaesLaugh3 жыл бұрын
Aahhh Amber! I can completely relate… I started getting anxiety later on in my journaling experience as well. I think it was for a few reasons - one of them, oddly enough was because I would often go back and reread my journal entries, when I wrote them I would overthink and wouldn’t let it just come out freely. What helped was me stopping that for a while to bring back my love for just WRITING and being open with my thoughts. So maybe something you can try is to not only journal when you need to vent about something but also journal when something really good happens as well, OR even when it’s just a “regular” day. All of that - the good, bad and simply okay days are key to your personal growth and life journey so they are all worth documenting. And my thoughts are that once you get more familiar with journaling other than venting you’ll know how to get out of it quicker and discover the “why” you speak of when you do have something to vent about. 🥰♥️♥️♥️ I hope that helps Amber!!! But know I’m so rooting for you! Keep journaling friend!!! 😍😍😍🥰♥️

Finally! I've been looking for a few how to's on starting journalling. I've tried so many times to start a journal. Both physicaland electronic. I couldn't figure out why it got so difficult to continue going after awhile. I had so much anxiety about doing it the right way. All the other "tutorials" I found were just talking about glitter pens and stickers, more collage journals than written journals. Glad I found this one, I think it'll help.

It may seem counterintuitive when you are dealing with anxiety and loneliness but I can say from personal experience that when you find / grasp things you are grateful for and make you smile... even if it’s seemingly small ... and you meditate on it a little bit by writing it out, your mentality starts to change little by little ♥️♥️♥️ Maybe you can give that a try too ♥️ Praying for you friend!!

I tend to have very bad memory, so I often try not journal also to remember important things. Bits of gossip, experiences with people, and my thoughts about this and that. I even used to paste in magazine or news clips and then write what I thought about it. I like to re-read those old stories and what my opinion was and see how much I've changed about things.

I loved the part about wondering what people in the park could possibly be journalling about 😆 I've been journalling since I was a kid so it's hard for me to imagine not knowing how to do it, but I'm glad you have this video out there to give people the nudge to start :) It was a good reminder to set a cozy environment before journaling at least sometimes.

Awwww I love that Helena!! Hahaha man yesss it’s funny how it can be hard to imagine someone else not knowing how to do things that comes so naturally for us. I 100% get that! ☺️☺️☺️ I always just try to go back to a place where it wasn’t always that natural to help ppl in a similar state 🥰. But I LOVE that you’ve been journaling for so long though!, I know there’s a reason you keep going back to it 😍💕🫶🏾. So happy I could offer you another tip for your practice friend ☺️🫶🏾💕

Thanks for the kind comment! Your positive energy is really infectious :) I’m coming back to journaling with a beginners mind, so I’m watching videos like yours to get a new perspective in this season of life. So far I’ve done mostly long-form journaling whenever inspiration (usually something negative) strikes - like the people in the park going for pages! With my current research and new perspective, I think I’m going to add a daily (no-pressure) practice in the “line-a-day” style, so it’s just something quick, but I have a keepsake from every day. Hoping this will cultivate a more positive relationship with my journalling, so it’s not always associated with the difficult times in life. But I’ll still have that long-form journalling to fall back on when I need to process something more deeply. Thanks again for helping inspire my next steps :)

Love this! I used to journal every day and write my thoughts and experiences down and then I stopped and I’m getting back into it because when I used to journal I would be able to think clearly, I’d have so much more perspective and gratitude and I had a great outlet for my emotions and thoughts. I just went to Barnes and nobles and bought a beautiful journal and have started so this was a great video to get my headspace back on track for journaling

Just really understand that Journaling also help you find your goals and your desires. Like starting from low and you keep journaling your life events until you re-read your last journals wondering your plans and desire really does work. Realizing that journaling will be your guide also its like setting such challenges to your life and now that desires and challenges you’ve write actually work and help you change and motivated! A lot 💖

Love your energy! And thanks for breaking down journaling so it's EASY! Journaling's been such a great way for me to set intentions, vent, reflect and make sense of the thought-soup in my head. Thanks for sharing your tips. :)

Girllll just YESS!!! I can't express how intimidated I used to be but at the core of it, it really isn't hard a all! And it's helped me in those exact same areas as well! (Also, I so love your "thought-soup" analogy) lolll. So glad you enjoyed it girl! 😃🤗❤️️

Your energy is so contagious right for the start. I love it!! I love journaling and I try to do it daily, but never skipping more than three days in a row. I currently have my standard journal for day to day things, my scripting journal for writing out what I want as if it’s already come to me, and then I use the artist of life workbook from lavendaire as sort of a brain - dump journal/ ideas etc. I’ll never stop :p

@@NaesLaugh I LOVE it. I just ordered this years and its my third year using it. I'm excited because it sounds like its been changed a bit from the past two years, and I know Aileen only changes things to improve them. Based on some of the things in her recent videos, I have a feeling its going to be even more in depth of finding ourselves and creating joy.

😆 watching people in the park writing thinking ‘ what are you writing? How can you write that long?’ I’ve often looked at people thinking the same thing. Now I’m in my forties I wish I’d kept a journal when I was in my twenties so I could look back on my thoughts and all the cool stuff I did 🙃 but better late than never. Your primary reason to be able to look back and see your own personal growth is the number one reason I’m going to start this year. My journal just arrived in the post. I’m going to make it part of my morning routine along with getting some sunshine and exercise 🌞 🖊 🏃♀️

Well you seem very excited about journaling and I like that. I watched tons of vids about journaling but yours is the best. I have been journaling for two years every day usually 1-2 hours but this year I want to reduce the hours. Journaling is interesting and useful.

Awwww Asia!!! That is so sweet, and means a lot coming from a journaling pro!!! 😄😄😄 I’m someone that can also journal for long periods of time but I would say something that helps is to set a timer! And if your willpower isn’t all there then maybe do it before you have to do something else that is scheduled... that you can’t be late for lol. I hope this helps you as you continue your practice this year friend!! 🤩🤩😍😄😁😁

I've started journaling regularly this week and I'm completely loving it. I just write down things I need (or want) to remember, or just notable events or things I'm looking forward to doing. It's amazing the effect it has, like once it's down on the page, it frees my mind and I don't have to remember or worry about it anymore. I've even looked at videos on how to doodle, something I've never been able to do very well but I just think it might help add some character to my entries.

For the con on a handwritten being not able to takenit with you you can get a pocket book. Its small enough to fit in your pocket and later tou can transfer the info later into a bigger one or keep it in the pocket book. A con to digital is there are so many things to distract tou from writing that pull tour attention from writing that it gets frustrating. I am a fan of the happy planner journals cause their customizable.

Great video about journaling. I love to journal in bed or a very comfortable armchair with my feet up and always with a view of nature. I want no interference from man-made things like candles. I love the nature scents from the garden, natural sounds like the birds, or wind or rain. Then handwriting, using beautiful vintage fountain pens from the era of my youth, and quality fountain pen friendly paper creates the mood for my journaling.
