The singing keyboardist (Gregg Rolie) is the cofounder of Journey with Neil Schon and the original vocalist before Steve Perry came on board. If Greggs voice sounds familiar it's because he was the original keyboardist and lead vocalist for Santana in their first tree albums and also contributed on four others. Neil Schon joined Santana during the third album and a couple years later both Neil and Gregg set out to form a "band for hire" band named The Golden Gate Rhythm Section that eventually became Journey after some personal changes and music direction... the rest is rock history

As a child of the 60's, I fell in love with the Beatles then discovered Motown ( The Temptations, Marvin Gaye etc). As the 70's rolled around, so did "Your Song" by Elton John and I fell in love with his music. The Eagles captured my heart with their beautiful songs and melodic harmonies, but it was the arena rock shows, the power ballads, and the truly unique vocals of Steve Perry and the powerful instrumentals of the band Journey that speaks to my heart...and still do to this day. In 1986 when "I'll Be Alright Without You" hit the radio, I was going thru a separation then a divorce and this song literally saved me. I can't remember a time when music wasn't an influencing factor in my life. So glad you too are enjoying my all time favorite rock band, Journey. Give a listen to "Be Good to Yourself" and "Why Can't This Night Go On Forever" from their Raised on Radio album (1986). "Only The Young" and "Ask The Lonely" from their Frontiers album (1983) are just some of their hidden gems...they won't disappoint, but as far as I'm concerned, Journey and Steve Perry never disappoint!!!

I grew up listening to this and many other great bands in the 70's. And thankfully I listened to many MoTown Artists as well. On Saturdays I would watch American Bandstand and then Soul Train, then later that evening I would watch HeHaw, The Buck Owens hour, then the Porter Wagoner show and then cap it off with The Lawrence Welk Show. So you could say I got my music exposure to just about everything. I wish everyone else would have had that experience.

Growing up with this music was awesome ❤ Wasn't in to the 80s-90s music as much! Hated the techno, etc! Love when we can get down to real vocals & instrumentals!❤ My Dad had an AMAZING deep rich voice, he also was a very funny man & could really play with his voice! Was in Germany with Elvis, but refused to sing with him. Not sure what the issue was, but suspect pride. Dad was the local ladies man that everyone adored. Not easy on Mom, lol. Anyway, Mom had a great soprano to compliment Dad, & my sister also ended up with a huge power voice & was known to do alot of Barbara Streisand, Whitney, & Mariah Carey! Too much smoking & she doesn't sing much but her son, on the spectrum is extremely talented on instruments & vocals! Was getting bigger & larger venues in Seattle while still in high school, & apparently very popular!❤ He got the funny gene as well as talent too!😂❤ Anyway, I love hearing the music before computers started getting over used! The purity & & quality in each person's giftings such a delight ❤
