@@melovemusic69 ..... No. If he were a copy cat, that would mean he was making an effort to consciously sound like Steve Perry. But he's not ..... It's his natural voice. He sung and sounded like that before he ever joined Journey. He didn't change anything about his voice after joining Journey.

They tried to mimic the past instead of accepting "Evolution". This Journey is as powerful as it was when Steve Perry joined in 1978- 1996 from "Infinity" to "Trial By Fire". My dates may be incorrect. I sense Jonathan Cain's healing influence in the album and Neil's old Santana background. I love it. Bringing it to the heart. Neal being the guitar prodigy that he has aways been. Dean, glad to see you back. Hello Todd. Hope to see you and the band soon. Arnel. Seriously. You have been the longest frontman for Journey since its inception in 1973. I am glad that you are finding your unique place among the legends. You know what that means, welcome to the Legend Club. LOL. Many of us have been lost, isolated over the last 2.5 to 3 years. Myself included. I feel this this album will break me free. Thank you. Thank you

The lyrics in this song sound like they were written by someone in high school who wrongly thought they were being deep. "Successfully replaced" talk about delusional
@EastDetroitMusic-Sirens3000A Жыл бұрын
@@m.valdivia8048 only if you really saw how Arnel sounded with your own ears irl, it isn’t delusion. Yes Steve Perry was a good singer but his voice has declined for 25 years, Arnel serves Journey right and has been continuing their legacy for over 15 years and that’s for a fact the longest any front man has a ever ran in the band’s history. You might disagree that Arnel isn’t a good singer or that he’s not a replacement. But, he has given a second chance toward success and the band has been going into a brighter future as time goes on, if you think about it this way. Arnel is the modern day of Steve Perry, with yet no auto tune. No machine drums, an actual band, jamming, soloing, and with people in it doing what they love every single day. That says a lot.
@m.valdivia8048 Жыл бұрын
@@EastDetroitMusic-Sirens3000A you haven't heard perry recently. He still sounds phenomenal. But perry was journey. That's fact. They were super small time before his voice catapulted them into the limelight
@EastDetroitMusic-Sirens3000A Жыл бұрын

Outstanding. Sure it sounds like Separate Ways in a few places, but a total original in others. The emotion is back in this one, which is what made Journey what they are. Schon captures the emotion of the lyrics in his solos. The piano is Escape-style. Of course Perry would add something to this nobody else could, but since he isn't coming back, I'll acknowledge that Arnel is very good in his own way. I'll take it!

Neal van Schon everyone: Last August, Schon gave a college radio simulcast interview to WMSC and WNUW where he discussed the progress of the songwriting and recording sessions for the band's upcoming studio album. He said: "I learned how to play keyboards better than ever during the pandemic, which I'd never really done before. And that's where our first single ['The Way We Used To Be'] came from. [I sent it to] Jonathan [Cain, keyboards], and he did the lyrics on it and put a rough vocal on it. And then we had Arnel sing it, and we cut it and re-cut it in the studio, and it was just released. And a lot of people went, 'Wow, man. I love it.' 90 percent of people love it; the other 10 percent went, 'I don't think it sounds like JOURNEY.' I go, 'I never wrote it to be a JOURNEY song.'"

It's so cool to not only use your old sounds but then update them...this is what most bands should do...trendsetters

Combination between separate ways and don’t stop believen! Jump to next level! Upgrade 2.2😂😂😂 I like it coz Arnel has freedom here to sing a new song, come up very natural….I could not imagine this will become a main soundtrack for latest movie “ top Gun”

The more I hear this song, the LESS it sounds like Separate Ways. Great tune! Great Album!
