@@peterpeters4553not all drummers. Drumming is an extension of your personality. You won’t find a hyper guy like Gregg or Deen or Stewart Copeland playing laid back like Bonham. And you won’t find that a guy who plays like Bonham or Kretz or Abe Laboriel Jr who is a super energetic wired guy.

Love you Deen best drummer for Journey. Missed you so much but so glad you overcame your issues and are back with the band. I haven’t followed very much since Steve left, but dude you are the closest second to Steve I’ve ever heard. I am starting to listen to some journey again since you have come back to the band. Sounds like issues have been overcome in the bands. I like Arnel, but he’s not Steve or you. Drumming and singing at the same time, dude that’s awesome, so are you such passion and energy, perfectionist for your crafts. Glad the wives got involved with Neal and Johnathon. ( behind evert man is a great woman). Love your band Revolution Saints as well……I noticed your smoking cigarettes, please quit it will take your life away, can’t you imagine not being able to play the drums, be in the band, go on tours????? Take it from someone who lives on full oxygen 24/7 at highest setting and still short of breath if I walk, can’t carry anything heavy at all, getting to the bathroom or kitchen to get a Dr Pepper exhausts me. All my food is microwaved because I can’t cook anymore. COPD so severe I can’t have in person contact with people so I’m homebound only to go to my dr.appts. My lungs are so severely damaged my pulmonologist treats me with meds at home first to see if I can recover from respiratory failure or flare ups because it’s more dangerous to be exposed to all the germs in the hospital. Think about your family having to watch you basically slowly suffocate yourself, gasping for air like a fish out of water. I will turn 65 in March I pray everyday for the blessing of waking to a new day and every precious breath I breathe. Love you man. I hope this post helps others to consider not smoking anything, the air we breathe is bad enough!!!! God bless you and yours. Keep on rockin. Congratulations to the band on 50 anniversary and tour. Journey Rocks. Later……………..

His video "High Performance Drumming" changed my 19 year old life!!! All the hand/foot stuff I got from him. I'd heard it from Greg Bisonette first, but couldnt figure what the heck was happening. Deen showed me and it was a revelation! Not only that but his whole power rock drumming thing was so inspiring. Regarding Edrums/triggering it live, if he's getting latency, his techs are doing it wrong. Talk to Brian Hitt from REO Speedwagon, he'll give you some serious pointers on how it's done.

Absolutely Deen is Incredible and don’t take the drums down Oh I remember hearing in 1998 variations over tour and everyone after and I Absolutely am a Huge Steve Smith Fan as well and when he came back and Filled in for Deen Oh I go back to the Evolution Tour but I went to see Steve back in Journey several times and the Wow Unbelievable big sound of his Drums from back when I remember were toned down and I maybe every other day and go back to to all live recordings! Love Deen He is Awesome! Oh I am so Happy everyone happy and Absolutely Neal Schon’s Solos and when he throws in some HSAS Valley of The Kings Wow!

Kiss made Peter Criss use the triggers too during the 90s reunion but because they said Peter wasn't loud enough 😂 Love Deen's energy in this. And Neal's wife definitely has the gift of gab. She gabbed her way right past White House security to hang with Obama 😂😂😂😂. Anyone else remember that? 😂😂

I have been a Journey fan since 1981. Two words on why I will never buy another Journey concert ticket: Paula White. Deen Castronovo said that she is co-managing the band and is a "business genius". I thought she was a "pastor". She is just another grifter using religion to con people out of their money. They do not need my money anymore; I am out.

i think i heard somewhere that a lot of bands in the 70s and 80s played backing tracks during live concerts...especially the harmonies for the choruses and such. I can't remember where i heard that. I think years of watching different bands interviews and documentaries. So its not uncommon i guess

The triggers suck. I just saw journey in Madison the other day. I was in the floor like 30 rows back. Toto’s mix was way better. For Journey, there was no drums!!! The kick was this weird rumble. There was no beat to the music. Just this broad midrange. Interesting how he said how Arnel is a light singer because his voice was crazy compressed . Just an ugly artifact when he sang.
