Jonathan Cain (piano) wrote that along with Steve Perry because of his relationship with his wife, struggling to keep it together because of being gone 6 months+ touring. We don't realize the hardships & downfalls of bands, at least how it used to be done back in the 70's & 80's, much different than today! Beautiful song, my favorite ballet of theirs! I used to listen to Steve Perry before he was with Journey and he was singing with local musicians for the Kings County fair. I’ve known of Steve Perry & Journey, since I was a teenager and I am 65. Glad you enjoyed it. I could tell it touched you deep as well - how could it not? The 60s and 70s - the music - there is no comparison. After 45 years listening to Steve Perry his voice still amazes me. The best heart soul touching song Steve Perry has sung is # i need you" & #2You belong to me" and last but not least is #3 "in the rain" good out the tissues because he touches your soul you can feel and here the pain in Steve voice. He made the songs two years ago and his voice is different like a raspy voice but he makes it sound outstanding and amazing

Journey has been my favorite band for nearly 40 years. This is my fav#1 Journey song; closely followed by Still They Ride, and Who's Crying Now. Keyboardist Jonathan Caine wrote this song based on the way he felt on the road because of how much he missed his wife. Steve Perry's voice, along with Neal Schon's amazing guitar work on the melody made an amazing combo for this band and they were so good together for so long - they were made for performing these arena hits. All of their songs were great - but to really hear Steve at his best - check out "STILL THEY RIDE" That's so an amazing and emotional song.

Neal Schon was a guitarist for Santana. He and Greg Rolie quit Santana. They founded Journey. Santana, Journey and I were born in San Francisco. I grew up listening to both bands. Faithfully was released in 1983. Written by Jonathan Cain. He is on piano and synth. Steve Perry was the lead singer. The lead singer now is Arnel Pineda. Neal Schon discovered AP on the Internet! Drums by Steve Smith. 🥁 Same year, 1983. Faithfully song sounds like Heaven. Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. BA needed a drummer to record Heaven. His drummer Mickey Curry was not available because he was required by a prior contract to play with another musician. Steve Smith happened to be in town, New York. Thus, Heaven sounds like Faithfully.
