Their live show in Houston TX 1981 is POWERFUL. Im 66 and I never went to a concert in my life but I wish could have been at that one. Please check it out. Steve does not use an in-ear. His voice is pure and the instraments are really played hard 100%. TY for a wonderful reaction.

Great song! 40 years 🎂 Written by Jonathan Cain. He is on piano and synthesizers. He wrote songs with or for The Babys/Bad English, Sammy Hagar, Michael Bolton and Heart. When The Babys broke up and Greg Rolie retired, JC took his place. Similar song: Heaven as performed by Bryan Adams. In that year, he opened for Journey. There is a story behind Heaven. Neal Schon dropped out of Amador High School in San Mateo. Eric Clapton wanted him to join his band but was refused! NS joined Santana, a classic rock band from my hometown San Francisco. He and Greg Rolie quit Santana. The 2 founded Journey. In 1987, Journey broke up. NS , JC, John Waite, Ricky Philips and Deen Castronovo founded Bad English. To think where we would have been had Journey not penned the most beautiful song in Faithfully ... and inspired another young musical genious.... There is a reason why Prince contacted Journey to ask their permission before releasing Purple Rain....listen to the tone, the guitar...especially the solo....

I'm 64 years old and was weaned from a pup on 50s doo-wop, and then, the guitar rock era of the 60s and 70s....the Beatles, Pink Floyd, ZZ-top, Eagles, BTO, Fleetwood Mac, the Doors, Procul Harum, Zeppelin, Kansas, Skynyrd, etc. I saw Journey when their album ESCAPE was #1...and, being as "no BS music.... straight from the heart and soul", is what I grew up on, For me , the SINCERITY..the HEART, .has to be there and Steve Perry's vocals RESONATE soul.

When I heard Purple Rain, I kept trying to tell people it sounded like Faithfully..no one would listen. Fast forward, when Prince died it came out he had called Journey to get their blessings on Purple Rain ( to avoid litigation) which he admitted to the chords mirrored Faithfully. I LOVE BOTH of these songs so much I wrote an Anthem for my group with the same fervor called "Shout It To World" by The BUCKHEAD BOYZ.

This video is from the 1983 Journey's documentary 'Frontiers And Beyond'. It's about life on the road, not only for the band. But for the road crew as well. The road crew of course toured in the bus, while the band flew. Keyboardist Jonathan Cain wrote this song for his then wife. You saw her when he was sitting there staring at the pic!
