The first time I played this game I had no idea the others were actual players. Me and one other player stuck together through the majority of the game then when the credits rolled and saw they were actual players I was overcome with this deep sense of connection to this person I will never meet in person. I was absolutely floored. Such a beautiful game.

It's great that you were able to have this experience on such a special night, surrounded by the celebration of the new year. Playing video games can be a great way to relax and escape from the stresses of everyday life, and it sounds like you were able to have a really immersive and enjoyable experience. I can see so much of what TGC took forward to sky. The way you slowly gain he ability to fly for longer, the way you slide in the sand, the fact that the game is so peaceful and beautiful despite being the aftermath of destruction, the music, the way your character calls, how the little scarf pieces are like the butterflies, the mountain that looks like Eden, I see a lot of associations and it's all so lovely.

I know this isnt really related to comparisons, but I just thought it'd be fun to put here: I think one of my favourite bits of Sky's development which just went to show how TGC really did want to make it artistic is that each area is based after a time of day/weather condition. Obviously Isle of Dawn is Dawn, and Daylight Prairie is the morning, but actually Hidden Forest I believe is meant to be mid-day or rain, Valley of Triumph is Sunset, Golden Wasteland is evening, and Vault of Knowledge is Night or Mid-night. And then Eye of Eden is just simply "Storm"

It didn't happen to me often, and usually, I can take or leave the multiplayer experience, but it was truly magical to meet another player in-game. I remember getting to the end with one player, and we just stood there gazing at this beam if light in just awe and trepidation, sharing this moment together, unable to exchange a single word together. I'm not much of a gamer, but there are some moments that'll stay with one forever; for me, that was one.

One time I met another player near the end of the game and they kept trying to get my attention to follow them. I was just messing around at the time but decided to follow them and we finished the game together. The guy afterwards messaged me to say thanks as he'd been trying to get the achievement of finishing the game with another player for a while and finally I was the one who did. It was just such a wholesome experience to have together. We didn't speak again after that but that one interaction was more than enough to make me love what this game created.

Couple tips and tricks if you want them: *That beginning area is a hub. The platform Jack landed on with one glowing glyph and a bunch of unilluminated glyphs is to show how many scarf extending glyphs there are to find. The more you find, the more the platform is illuminated. *At the end of each level, when you sit down in front of the statue, look below the statue. Akin to the platform, there will be a few spots where glyphs can glow. This represents how many there are to find in the specific level you're in. If you've missed any, you can either go back and explore some more or use the hub to start a level over. (Most useful for the sand sliding parts.) *In the vast dune level, the scarf buddies you free will actually guide you. Pay close attention and they'll lead you to other scarf buddies, glyphs and secrets. *You can track where your companion is by paying attention to the edges of your screen. Depending on which direction your companion is, that direction's edge will subtlety glow. *Don't fly too far away from a companion, unless you want them to disappear from your game. *If your companion sits to meditate, sit with them for a while. They might be trying to tell you to wait while they do something IRL, or their remote might have died. They could also just want to sit with you. ;D *Calling in the vicinity of a companion will refill their scarf a little bit. And standing close to each other will refill both scarves. Work together to make flight time last longer. (Also, you definitely CAN climb the tower without activating any of the murals. It's best to try it with a white robe, but you can also do it if you have a companion that works well with you.)

It's funny, but for a game with no direct methods of communication between the randomly-matchmade players, there's almost a kind of sign language that _Journey_ players use to 'talk' to each other -- I've played the game on and off for years now, and I regularly see similar patterns of calls and movements to signal different requests or alerts.

Journey is an analogy for life's journey, it's very spiritual and Buddhist-themed. No matter who we are we live, experience emotions, hardships and death, rebith. The ending song "I Was Born For This" is the only thing with words, the lyrics are sourced from quotes and poetry throughout human history (The Aenid, The Iliad, Joan of Arc, Beowulf) and is sung in a total of 6 languages. This song describes the message of Journey entirely. The composer Austin Wintory has the song and translated lyrics on his channel.

I love this game. Played it a few times and actually managed to get my white robe. I always saw it as a Journey of life and the exit of it. You've passed away. Making your journey to your version of heaven. The "lint" being memories of the life you had. The bad guys signifying the struggles. The glowing orbs, key memories. And at the end when you are this shooting star, you finally completed your journey through purgatory and get sent back to help others find their way. I always like helping people. So for me that was how I enterpreted this Art of a game. I highly doubt that this was it's meaning, but for me personally I really liked the idea 😁

I've never seen, or even heard of this game before this video, but it was pretty amazing. Gorgeous imagery, paired with deep story, all experienced without any explanation. I didn't really think about it until the end, but once Jack was nearing the peak, I thought "Those shooting stars were people finishing the game, aren't they?" I think being able to journey with people like that is amazing, and the thought of knowing someone has completed their experience while being able to see you making yours is incredible.

I was so taken in its simplicity. I now have it and will often play through it (sometimes back-to-back) to unwind and experience it - the visuals, the music, the chance meetings (there's nothing more wholesome than seeing how excited people get when you cross paths with them sometimes, especially when you unlock the white robe). The art style and universe it built has always been something I’ve been fascinated by since experiencing it. It brings to mind monument valley (like Sean said) and some other puzzle game on mobile that I can’t remember the name of - but when there is this lost civilization with beautiful architecture and art and music… it makes something in my soul sing, something ancient and nostalgic that has seen the fall of humanity and watched it rise again. Oh, to be human. To be alive and part of something so miraculous.

My husband and I met in college as performing arts scholarship folks. I actually have a counseling degree, but I have and always will love reading and theatre and music as well. My husband loved theatre too, but he also has a degree in computer science. I loved written story, he loved voice acting and the way video games involved the “listener” in their story. I didn’t entirely understand so years ago this (and abzu) were the first games he shared with me. The score, the story, the art - it all moved me. I still remember it so fondly. Fast forward to 2022, and In January of this year I lost my dad. I’m in my 20s so I never imagined I would lose him so soon but it hit me hard and has shaped a lot of this year. I finished my masters degree, we found new jobs, we bought our first home. I spent so much of my year feeling twisted inside because I couldn’t share these things with my dad. Last week I tested positive with Covid and as a result we spent our holiday alone and in quarantine, which compounded the feelings of loss that was experiencing this time of year without my dad. Today was my first day back to work and I got home from working my twelve hour shift, absolutely exhausted, saw you posted a video, and popped it on without really paying attention to what it was… Thank you for helping me to mourn and find closure this holiday season lol. The story of this game is emotional anyway but this year especially it’s hitting me. Whether we’re salmon or not (lol), seeing this today brought me a lot of peace. Thank you for all you do, and for playing a part in my day today. 💛

Quite sad that it looks like this would be a lonely journey to the mountain, knowing the age of the gane, it's understandable

Crazily enough, I played this game in 2021 multiple times and encountered multiple other players. It’s never a lonely journey.

If Jack ends up playing Sky, that would be so exciting honestly. So lovely to see Journey being played again. ❤️ If you go into the hidden areas you can unlock the white scarf.

I LOVED this game when I was young… I vividly remember I never got past the jellyfish until I was twelve, asking myself why and remembering all of the hauntingly delightful memories. Also consider Sky: Children of The Light, as it’s undeniably a wonderful successor that’s a passion project of TGC. I was so delighted to see this forgotten gem on my fyp.

This game really came into my life when I faced the most challenges and hardships. I used to just go downstairs, dim the lights and just play as mindfully as I could. Give my whole attention, explore every inch every time, and sit with the feelings it evoked for hours. In the hurricane, it was my quiet place. I really feel like it saved my life. I'm so happy to see it being played and enjoyed even after all these years; I believe with my whole heart that every person should go on at least one Journey in their life. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it with us all again

I love this game so much. This is honestly my comfort game, it's graphics and soundtrack is so good. I highly suggest Sky:COTL and Ori and the Will of the Wips. The latter is slightly higher paced, but its so fun and pretty and it makes me cry every time I finish it.

This was the first console game I bought for myself with my own money as a teenager and it really showed me how beautiful games could be and how a story could be told without speaking a single word. Truly believe this is what got me to fall in love with video games in the first place and the potential experiences I can have with them

An absolutely gorgeous game and one that means a LOT to me. I adore this soundtrack, and will often start singing “I Was Born For This” randomly to myself-like today. I don’t speak any French, Old English, or the other languages sung in the song, except for the Japanese-and somehow, this beautiful, indecipherable song in a wordless game suddenly slipping into intelligibility before fading back out into pure feeling makes me tear up every time.
