I once travelled in the general class of Toofan Express with my Nanaji. It got stuck after Mathura for 3 hours. Best ride ever. It used to have yellow colored bulbs. It was a surreal journey that I only remember in bits and pieces. Thank you for capturing it. And I have no count on how many times I travelled in the mighty Taj Express to Gwalior to my nana-nani. Every single trip to Gwalior was a celebration for me, especially in summer vacation.

Great video. Although I feel sad that there has been NO progress in the speed of our railways in last 40yrs. Same 130kmph max speed back in 1980s, same 130kmph on Train18 in 2022. Wish we could have upgraded our tracks in 40yrs...

Thanks a lot! Howrah Rajdhani starting running at 130 kmph in 1971 itself. Bombay Rajdhani was upgraded to 130 kmph in 1991. And Bhopal Shatabdi used to run at 140 kmph with ICF rakes - introduced in 1988.

It is so nice to see this journey which I had the luck to undertake during mid nineties. Whenever I see WAP1 loco here in Chennai from AJJ shed I remember their duty in Rajdhani those days. Thanks a lot for uploading. Rajdhani was special in those days and with two tracks, one could see many overtakes giving one a kick. Nowadays, Rajdhani gives way to other trains when it is late. Of course sad to see no trains due to Covid 19 and that has taken away the thril of travel. All RF’s are so sad nowadays and your videos give us time to think back.

Great Journey compilation as always. Amazing capture of the entire train also, specially the pantry car. 20:25 shows it was very challenging job for pantry staffs to carry meals from pantry to other coaches via those vestibular of shaking ICF Coaches.

It was 1995 or 96 when we went to New Delhi on the Dakshin. I was in school, class 5 if I remember correctly. AC was out of reach for personal trips but Dad was entitled to one LTC trip with family to anywhere in India on AC two tier. So here I was gawking at the fancy seats and curtains and waiting in excitement for the guys from the pantry to take food orders. One of my most vivid memories is of that distinct fragrance that greeted me when entering that glass door to the compartments at 18:38. Thank you for the trip down memory lane!

I always used to imagine the GZB WAM4 with its cream-brown livery hauling the Kalka Mail with its cream-brown rake in the 70s and early 80s. Sadly, I never got to see that.

Today the particular loco that hauled the Rajdhani is converted into WAP-4 and undergone so many services before being converted into some shunting banker loco at some shed, may be Ratlam Shed. And the ICF coaches might have been scrapped.

Good question! Back then, it felt special to be traveling in a Rajdhani due to the service and food. Also, uniformity of that grand cream-red livery and mostly with a matched loco as well. Nowadays, a Rajdhani pretty much looks like any other LHB train. Back then, only two lines between Mathura and Nizamuddin.

I had travelled by rajdhani from new delhi to Kota jn in 2002. Those days the food quality was good in rajdhani. It was our first time in premium train . And the snacks were offered at 5:10 pm and the quality was awesome from Frooty to samosa and evening tea. I was 8 then but still remember that day .

9.50 am. It used to be 9.15 am until 1991 but was then slowed down in the MTJ-NDLS section due to increase in traffic.

sir have u travelled in paschim express around 1995-96,i still remember it was hauled with wcam1 from ratlam to delhi?

I have seen Paschim Exp. around that time but never traveled in it. WCAM1s never went beyond Vadodara. So, Paschim would have been WAP1-hauled between Vadodara and Delhi.
