I remember back in the early 80's when VanHalen and Journey were going at it toe to toe. Eddie had the guitar riffs. But Steve Perry was the best frontman and vocalist in the industry. Always imitated, but never duplicated !

Anyone who knows anything about playing guitar was completely blown away and jaw dropped by that, seemingly effortless, display of pyrotechnics by Schon. I could almost see smoke coming from his fingers. Neil is a true musical genius.

Journey with Steve Perry was PHENOMENAL !!!! It was the whole package of a POWERHOUSE BAND - great, GREAT songwriting, musical arrangements and talent, and the emotionally charged voice of Perry..... ever so pure and crystal clear....like a very fine instrument. Steve Perry singing takes me back to the best days of my life. I graduated in 1983 and seen: Journey, Bryan Adams, Queen, The Who, Jethro Tull, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Honeymoon Suite, Saga. All of them absolutely rocked. Playstation or X-Box don't even come close.

70’s and 80’s music was the best by far. And journey with Steve Perry was the top of the best. Steve has always and will always be the best vocalist. Everyone is trying to copy him or compare to him. He does it naturally and effortlessly. The classic rock band I’m in we do some journey and I play the keys and sing Steve’s part. And while I do it good, I’m nothing like him because he is natural and makes it easy. I have to work at it and focus on singing.

Neal really knows what he's doing, with all the improv he did in this solo which is not on the album. Steve was never off on any of the notes he hit, and the whole band played the song excellent and put on a good show.

If modern rock had half as much soul as the classics it would be decent but I guess there jsut aren't many bands today that understand that music is about fun and that it should come from the soul. It's not about being all metal all the time or all pop rock all the time or all these other retarted music genres. It's jsut about the music and the fun man.

@SuperArschloch3000 yeah but I saw Journey in their prime - you can't say that about Elvis now can you... Another thing (not knocking Elvis) is his manager stole music all the time like from Black artists like Big Mamma Thornton's Hounddog. Perry, Schon, Rolie and Cain never did that. Did you also know that Rolie also wrote and sang some of Santana's & Ambrosia's best stuff and has already been inducted to the R&R Hall of Fame w/ Santana? He sang Black Magic Woman and Evil Ways.
