Ben, this is SUCH a trip! Dammmn! That ring on your right pointer is a WEAPON! You hit someone in the face with that and you will knock their ass out! Yeah, my lucky ring is a solid piece for sure. I absolutely love it. Yeah, Amber and Lauren were real troopers. Seeing the house is so amazing. Wish it looked like the house in the movie but I am so happy I have had the opportunities to be up there. The movie is my everything and I just am do glad that it all worked out as wonderfully as it did.

Very cool Ben, thanks for posting. I was born in 71 and remember seeing Salem's Lot when it came out. I watched it on showtime and loved it. It's always been one of my favorite movies. It has this genuinely terrifying atmosphere that just gets to you.

@@ConglomerationCat you're welcome Sam, i talk to Ben a lot and likewise, all of you seem the kind of guys I'd hang out with as a kid or as an adult. I'm the same as you but since aged 13 and i'd imagine i'd have the same feelings like finally reaching the summit to a movie that really had an effect on me.. We got if aired the first time here in sept 81 and my dad used to print the radio times which at the time was the main tv guide that had features in it. I kept that very copy my dad brought back before it was delivered to shops the next day which had the SL: feature. Amazing stuff, loved the goat greeting you. And to stand in that position and imagine back in 79 with the changed view looking back into towm=n. Its a place I feel I've known for ages and wouldn't get lost in even though I've never been and in another country hehe. Great stuff guys and always nice to tune into your SL Minority vids. Steve

Ben's passion for the film aligns with ours and it makes experiencing landmarks and stories that much sweeter and more memorable. Danny is another prime example of the same level of interest. Both are wonderful people who I call my Brothers.

Salem's Lot is my all time favorite Stephen King novel. My second favorite is a less popular one, The Talisman. They both resonate with my 70s and 80s childhood for some reason. Thanks for doing this video Ben. Can't wait to get to Ferndale someday! It's definitely on my bucket list. I'm looking forward to more of your videos in the future. Also, when the goat stands on his hind legs at 16:39 it makes me think of the 2015 film The VVitch. Can you tell I'm a horror movie buff? 😂

Its quite a large property when you see it from the back. That facade was excellent the steps which james mason used to get to his car the cellar hatch all very convincing. I bet mort rabinowitz (sorry if i butchered his name) would be amased if he knew people were still talking and making videos about his marston house facade.💚👍

Ben my friend we are both obsessed with Salems Lot just like 1000s. The GOAL is not finished until we own the property and build the Marsten House (obviously if the owners were wiling to sell). It is not the last whale on my list. HOW i dont know but tim playing the Salems Lotto at 7 11 every chance i get. THE MARSTEN HOUSE WILL BE BUILT ON THAT PROPERTY im willing it lol. The best movies are The Big Lebowski and Salems Lot and i watch them every chance i get. Imagine the Dude owning the Martsen House lol I was wearing robes in my 20s in los Angeles before the movie. btw i want that cat in the other video lol We gotta find a way and dont worry im not crazy but i am obessed and have no problems admitting it :) Ill take construction classes and work for free in making this dream come true. IFYOU WILL IT, IT IS NO DREAM! I AM THE WALRUS!

Ben, thank you for sharing this tour with us with your friends. Rewatching all these movies and shows upon David Soul's death has brought back my childhood memories. I would have loved to have seen Ferndale when it was fresh off the movie production. I know at the time it was hard to find out where anything was without the internet. At the end of a movie, credits would tell you where it was filmed, but it wasn't like you could just look up the exact city location and book a room. Was this owner of the home the same owner as when the "Salem's Lot" movie was made? I've been looking up different attractions, tours, and the history of Ferndale online and it gives no credit of being the home of the movie production. I wonder why? Did you find out anything while you were there regarding this?

Not a stupid question at all. The house was a facade around that existing house. They couldn’t burn it cause the ground was primarily mulch. They used flame bards to simulate the burning of the house. They scenes of the actual house burning is unused Footage from a Kirk Douglas movie called The Arrangement. The insert shot of the flames breaking the root cellar glass was done at studio
