I believe it was Richard Kobritz that used the NOSFERATU Barlow because he was tired of seeing the evening-clad Dracula-esque style of vampire depicted in King's novel. He wanted to go behind the facade to project the horrible, malignant, pulsating evil that was the vampire's soul, a humanoid parasite. They couldn't have a better actor than the horribly burn-disfigured Reggie Nalder to fill the role of Kurt Barlow.

I remember seeing Salem’s Lot in a Clamshell to rent at a Video Store I used to rent at decades ago. I was born in 1972 and I have “soft spot” for 80’s horror movies that I would have to sneak and watch from my parents in the early to mid 80’s. I always will remember as a kid when Video Stores were in their infancy and holding the Original Boxes to the Friday the 13th,Halloween,Nightmare on Elm Street & many Stephen King movies. Y’all are awesome bloggers because I can tell y’all are genuine fans and are so excited to be their with your filming locations are at!

Perhaps had you stopped watching before your 20th time your breath wouldn't of steamed the lense. I hate when that shit happens . See ya on the dark side ..

I love the head of Barlow superimposed on Michael in the introduction. One of my favorite Stephen King novels and adaptations. What it lacks in blood and gore it makes up for in suspense. I could go on and on.

"Mr. Barlow" scared the shit out of me...and the elder "Glick Brother" "Danny"...that came back for his friend "Mark". Many a night after watching that as a kid...[especially if it was foggy]...I'd have to have a peep out to see if shit was floating around out there....2:02 Bit like the "Psycho/Bates Motel"...at Universal Studios....

Congratulations on such a great job you guys! I came across your account after searching for 'Salem's Lot' clips. Loved the movie (must have watched at least ten times) and going thru your video reminded me of my plans to visit Ferndale sometime. Not many people understand the thrill of visiting shooting locations of favorite old movies. Only we -horror movie fans- do. Lots of love and good vibes from Buenos Aires, ARG!

James Mason was a stone cold legend. He really elevated the entire production to a different level.
