What a little treasure trove of goodies you have uncovered in the cupboards. Those oriental blue/red plates appear to be in the Imari pattern and might be either Japanese or Chinese copies. They did share patterns. Just a tip for cleaning those decanters, if you have access to OxiClean powder in France, it is the best cleaner to soak glassware in. I use it for my chandelier crystals and grubby vases for example. They just sparkle without having to use a lot of elbow grease.

If it's one thing I've learned watching all of the chateau restoration channels is that my love for the aesthetic look of ivy on a building actually means there's a good chance a historic building is being damaged right in front of my eyes. And I would much prefer to save the chateau than the ivy lol

I spent decades as a contractor with my husband. My speciality was historical restoration I would have a silent caniption when ivy was covering much of the masonry. Re-pointing bricks And stone is very costly labor wise. Also it keeps too Much moisture up against the exterior walls , that over time causes Interior damage to plaster and window casings. Many people think it is charming, but I am a lover of stone , and brick work. I love landscaping, but far from foundations and walls. I want an expansive view of the architecture. The wow factor ! Lol ...

How cool to find another potential window, it will be interesting to see if you decide to open it back up. I would love to have a treasure trove of china and glass, it was fun to see all the items you found in the cupboards. Most of it was very nice! They will come in so handy when you have parties and people staying over. You are really getting things done and in such a short period of time. So far everything is great. Thank goodness you had the bed from the US for you Dad to be comfortable. He must be tall like you Patrick. I noticed you had to duck the doors coming in and out. We grow tall people in our family as well. 😉 I purchased a really sweet antique tilting top table for the sitting space in my room. I was so happy to get it because it was simply perfect. Well I went to pick something up beside it and fell on top of it and smashing it to bits. We all have those moments! I cried and then I laughed so I can see both your sides in those situations. A hidden window...how wonderful! I hope it is in the Linen room! What treasures you found in the cupboards! Those roundish decanters remind me of one I got from Kosta Boda about 40 years ago and it holds an entire bottle of wine......hard to believe but see if your decanters do as well! Yes, great memories! I lived in Norway during the early 80's and saw some beautiful Kosta Boda pieces, collected a few but lost a few in a divorce about 35 years ago. Recently, my son was gifted a Kosta Boda chrystal sailboat from his dad's widow. He sent me a photo and asked "What is this!" I replied, "A treasure!" and then told him the story. Glad it is back in good hands! Cheers!

Morning Patrick & Stuart, before settling down to watch your video, power outage, 2 hours later, back in action. Clearing the outside walls you had new discoveries, how nice. The treasures inside the cupboards was great. Once all are washed and rinsed it would be beautiful. I can imagine the two pitchers sparkling with some beautiful red wine inside, how blessed. There are other lovely porcelain dishes and I am sure they are all going to be used at some stage. Nice to know your parents are spending the Festive Holidays with you, much reminiscing is coming up. My Mom, back in Germany, has a similar white and gold China set. You should use that for your “Kaffee Klatsch“ vlog with Stollen, Plätzchen und Lebkuchen. I miss Sunday afternoons in Gemany with freshly baked cake, music and a sense of calm. Life in the US is so fast paced.

Hi David. We actually have freezing temperatures. 😮🥶😳. The hall is really cold but why heat a room we only walk through. Our kitchen and the linen room as well as our bedroom are nicely warm and the rest of the rooms are on defrost. 😘💗😘😳 We are excited to get the hall done tomorrow afternoon. We have plastering to do in the spring (too cold now). And painting….. then we will be really happy. Stay cool my friend. Love from us at Colombe. 🥰🥵😍

Hello Journey-Men! How exciting to find that closed up window or door. Imagine the possibilities if it was a portal to the past or today's Paris or London! It would make a great novel with a ready-made filming location when it becomes a TV show or movie😉. Your🎄tree is sparkly and lovely. Stuart and Patrick, you found lots of goodies in the china pantry. Have fun washing your haul...lol. It is so nice to have your family arriving for Christmas 🎄. I hope they're not camera shy because I want to see them having a good time this festive season. 😊 I am curious to learn if the back kitchen wall conceals a door or a window...were any interior walls removed or added by the prior owners to make the space larger or more segmented? Seems like they wanted more wall space rather than light. Looking forward to the entryway enhancements. Happy Advent!
