Jowar, also known as sorghum, is a nutritious gluten-free grain that can be used to make a variety of dishes, including cutlets. Here's a simple recipe for Jowar cutlets:
Ingredients:
For Jowar Mixture:
1 cup Jowar (Sorghum) flour
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 cup finely chopped mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans)
2 tablespoons oil
For the Cutlet Coating:
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup rice flour
Salt to taste
Water for making a paste
For Frying:
Oil for deep frying
Instructions:
Cook the Jowar:
Boil 2 cups of water in a pan, and add 1 cup of Jowar flour while stirring continuously.
Cook the Jowar mixture until it thickens and leaves the sides of the pan.
Add salt, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin seeds, and the chopped mixed vegetables. Mix well.
Shape the Cutlets:
Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Grease your hands with a little oil and shape the mixture into small cutlets or patties.
Prepare the Coating:
In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs and rice flour together. Add a pinch of salt.
Add water to the breadcrumbs and rice flour to make a thick, smooth paste.
Coat the Cutlets:
Dip each cutlet into the breadcrumb-rice flour paste, making sure it's coated evenly.
Frying the Cutlets:
Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
Once the oil is hot, carefully place the coated cutlets into the oil one by one.
Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Remove the cutlets and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Serve:
Serve the Jowar cutlets hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
These Jowar cutlets are a healthy and tasty snack or appetizer. You can also customize the recipe by adding your favorite seasonings and vegetables to the Jowar mixture to suit your taste. Enjoy!
