Lyrics
When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Why is the bedroom so cold?
You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives
But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
You cry out in your sleep
All my failings exposed
And there's a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Just that something so good
Just can't function no more
Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Then love, love will tear it apart again
Love, love will tear it apart again

I lost a best friend to an intentional Heroin overdose, and we both attended the Tom Savini , Special Makeup Effects Course. I was crushed , when I got the call , that Billy had died. I miss him , so much . We use to listen to Joy Division every day. We both worked in the film industry.

I feel like it's the little things that keep us going. My job sucks. My girlfriend cheated on me. I live in a shitty, noisy apartment. But I get strength and happiness from the small things in life. The sun. The rain. Helping an elderly person. Saying hi to random strangers. Holding the door open for someone. It makes me feel good.

From a certain point of view my life sucks, in my 20s with not a lot money, balding , not popular by any means, but I feel like I am so lucky to have a rich appreciation of music and art and a deep fascination for the things that most would consider trivial. It’s music like this that makes me feel lucky that I’m alive, and that no matter where I am in life, I will always be able to find fulfillment in the little things
@jwf1964
@jwf1964 4 ай бұрын
Dude, hang in there. I was balding throughout my twenties. It hurt my self esteem. But I kept the faith, worked hard at what I loved, and eventually married a beautiful, loving woman. She had been in bad relationships with unfaithful men. She was attracted to my honesty and character. She knew I wouldn't cheat and never did. Now we are old but she is still gorgeous to me. Never give up and keep trying til you find the right one.

Lot of people thinks to joy division music as sad music.. i don't.. there is a difference between quality and crap, that makes you feel happy for only one second and at last, all the good feeling desappears.. and doesn't make you think as you listen to it.. i love jd music because it makes me travel whit my emotions.. exploring myself.. this is what makes music eternal. ❤

Now 40 years since their last concert, Ian's suicide and the band's subsequent breakup. Even the fact they were only around for 3 years doesn't diminish the legacy or influence they continue to have. However mental health still remains a stigma 40 years later. It's ok not to be ok, don't be afraid of speaking to your family or mates. Love Will Tear Us Apart at some point in our lives, but it will also bring us closer together.

I've read many books on Joy Division and you're right there really is a darkness too his life. I think the man was a genius. The film "Control" in my opinion was really well done. It was a sad loss when he passed away and although New Order are a great band I often wonder what other great songs Ian Curtis could have given us. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in my opinion has to be one of the greatest songs of all time. No matter how many times I've heard it it still sounds good every time and to be honest I rarely only listen to it once at a time I have to press repeat a few times, which is the sign of a good song.

The comments seem to have been reset, so I'm going to post the lyrics for whoever may want them. *LYRICS* When the routine bites hard And ambitions are low And the resentment rides high But emotions wont grow And we're changing our ways, Taking different roads Then love, love will tear us apart again Why is the bedroom so cold Turned away on your side? Is my timing that flawed, Our respect run so dry? Yet theres still this appeal That we've kept through our lives Love, love will tear us apart again Do you cry out in your sleep All my failings expose? Get a taste in my mouth As desperation takes hold Is it something so good Just can't function no more? When love, love will tear us apart again

There is something in the essence of this song that is so heartfelt and so real, that anyone from whatever background can connect with it. If you have loved and lost, this is what it feels like - tragic, because it hurts so much, but beautiful,, because you know that nothing will ever quite feel the same again... You will never reclaim that moment, the moment where you were there together and nothing will tear you apart, but you will never forget it either....

On this day, 36 years ago. A young dead soul who existed on the best terms he could made a fatal mistake searching for another day. He had the spirit but lost the feeling and gave us everything and more but the strain was too much and couldn't take much more. He felt it closing in, day in, day out, day in, day out as love tore him apart. Still touching from a distance, his heart and soul will never fade a away from the shadowplay.

@harleycampbell4981 Not only that, but the public didn't know immediately that Curtis was dead, not even John Peel. It took quite a few weeks for the news to break. I remember that there were no print mediums available for several weeks, due to the strike of the printers I think it was, so no NME or Melody Maker around for weeks. Then I remember popping into the news agent and Sounds had Joy Division on their cover, and at first I was jubilant, JD had made it, the're on the cover of one of the relevant music papers around at that time. But my joy only lasted for two or three seconds, after reading under the photograph Ian Curtis 15.07.1956 - 18.05.1980. It slowly dawned on me that " f*** this can't be true". So no, there was no Joy Division and especially no LWTUA beeing played on the radio on the 18/19 May 1980, because nobody knew yet that Ian had passed away, apart from the people close to him. Either the original poster has got something mixed up, or seeking for likes by spreading fake news.

I discovered Joy Division back in the 80's as a young teenager. It was like discovering a mysterious object from outer space, or some ancient stone tablet covered in mystic runes. Their songs are so emotional and compelling but mysterious and otherworldly at the same time. You experience Joy Division, but you never really "understand" them. That's a compliment, and a quality of all great art--the mystery of it. The depth. Like the unfathomable depth and beauty of the ocean.

It's 2024... it's been 44 years since you've been with us... it's unbelievable to me. what did you go through, what did you go through.. I don't know how long I will live, but thanks to this music and your other music, it is easier to survive the days... this life is hard to fight and fight, to fight the war with myself and the things around me.. .I discovered you 4 years ago when I was 11, which may not be much, but during that time I realized that your music and stuff was amazing. your music saves me better than drugs. I'm counting the days, how much time I have left here, I gave myself a day or two a few months ago, but I'm still here. I write poems, lyrics, play guitar and piano. these save me.. I will buy the other vinyls from Joy division but what I want the most and know I will have forever is a Joy division concert. I love you and miss you so much! whoever is part of this punk/post punk subculture tour will remember you forever! I know you can't read this and feel my love, but if I'm not here anymore, I won't survive tomorrow, all this will be in my heart forever and I will remember you! I am proud of what you have achieved! thanks for everything Ian! From Hungary. -Luca

@@tonyajsmith8829 Because you can? ..say anything... No the question is not whether Can you, or anyone, say any old thing. It's a request for some kind of logic to support what you said. I thought you knew something I didn't about the cover artist's motives..but you don't. I don't know the cover artiists motives either and i'm not going to txt him to find out. But knowing him, he loved the song and gave it his all in shining a light on it.

he had a wife and young baby that he left at home whilst he travelled, during his travels he cheated on his wife with a French lady, he couldn't choose between the two this lead to depression. Plus he suffered from epilepsy (which the people around him didn't understand, they just though he was stupid) so he killed himself.
