That opening riff at 1:15 is beautiful. I haven't seen someone use a volume knob so pleasantly like that in a few years. I'm going to have to play with that sound. I did just get my King if Kings yesterday and just like all Joyo stuff it's top quality and I like the trim settings right on top.

I just got this pedal today. I know it's modeled after the Analogman king of tone. To me it sounds more Klon "like". I think the pedal sounds great. Like you said there is a volume drop when you get into the clipping modes, but they are workable. Thanks for the videos. Keep on doing what you do. I enjoy watching your videos.

The volume drop is an intentional feature. It drops the presence so you can boost it further into overdrive by adjusting the volume and then you can turn the drive up.

I finally got the Pedal and it blew me away! Pure tasty tone! However, I did not experience the drop in volume! I wonder why? 🤔 So the left side should be used for leads and right side for Rhythm crunch sound? I have the right side for leads. Maybe that's why? Gonna take a pic of my settings to replicate it the other way.

I just got me a "King of Drive" clone, and finally understand the love for the KOT. Here's the skinny: The top end and the feel of the overdrive is very much like an Xotic EP Booster. Lush and clear. However, the EP Booster lets through a lot more low end. The KOTs cut low end. Not quite as much as a tubescreamer, but more than a bluesbreaker pedal. The top freqs feel very natural and they come through - no "blanket over the amp" kind of sound. It also has some similarities with the venerable Nobels ODR-1. It's rather scooped in the mids. A side-by-side between a KOT and a TS or BBrkr will quickly show the differences in the mid-range character. Given the scooped quality of it, a KOT sits really well with a mid-heavy Marshall. You'll have a bit harder of a time dialing it into something like a scooped Fender, but it still sounds good. Basically, they chose the right components so the pedal is really nicely EQed. It sounds truly natural, and is pretty much a "mo betta" pedal. I've a few pedals like this: TCE Spark Booster, Dano Roebuck (Mostortion clone), Nobels, the EP Booster, and my Dano Pride of Texas (a low gain TS with a bass control, similar to a Timmy, but warmer and very nice for clean work). Extremely nice circuit. Almost disgustingly so. But it won't make you want to ditch your Blues Breakers or Klons, because it's a different sound for different uses. More clear, more full (despite the low end cut), and frankly simply more 'modern' sounding. The KOTs can help your Marshall sound like a Deluxe Reverb, the same way that a MIAB can help your Fender amp sound more like a Marshall. Your like of the pedal, and if it's useful to you, may depend entirely on what amp you use. But for the price of a clone (my eBay bought King of Drive was around $60), it's a stunning circuit and should be considered for your use. Personally, I couldn't stop playing it. It's very inspiring, the way this guy is EQed. Damn.

I've got to say, after having watched some really good players on KZbin, I notice that their fretting hands look like they're an autonomous part of their body, and Jon is the quintessential example of this. The KOT comes with a higher gain MOD as well as an internal presence trim pot, does any of the switch toggle between high and low gain setting?
