Awesome video! The pedal sounds great. Interesting that the Joyo infront of the dream 65 yielded those tones. I use a king of tone infront of a 78 Deluxe Reverb with a strat and it sounds great. The KoT brings back some mids, especially when stacked. It always fits well with my setup

I was surprised too. I think the headroom on the dream is really low even at its lowest gain setting and the drive inherent in the pedal gets really muddy when used with a distortion pedal. The King of Kings sounds great in front of my blues jr. so maybe its just the pedal. Cheers!

In the king of tone circuit there are 2 sets of clipping diodes. One in the soft clipping loop of the op amp, and one after the op amp which makes it hard clipping. The switches are turning those clipping diodes on or off. Or, more accurately, the off setting is bypassing the clipping diodes so you're only getting op amp overdrive.

@Superdanger Studios it would be interesting to see your thoughts on a complete Joyo rig. I started fiddling around and for roughly 700 bucks a person could put together a pretty insane arsenal. (All prices are sourced from Amazon's Joyo page) Zombie II Bantamp 20w tube preamp class D power section head $160, King of Kings $55, R-12 10 band EQ $89, Vision Dual Mod. $99, Legal Done Noise Gate $55, and a Dr. J Compressor $45. Unfortunately everywhere I looked Joyo soeaker cabs were either unavailable or the asking price was ridiculously high so when it comes to cost effective I looked at the Harley Benton 1x12 loaded with Celestion V30 is $159 plus shipping. This is of course what I felt would be the essentials for covering just about any genre of music and would provide the most tonal versatility. The interesting thing about this is that everything costs less than a big name amplifier head by itself and it is not digital captures or representations.

It sucks the quality out of my signal to a very narrow, shallow tone. The drive is meh too. When I hit the twin a Nobels mini it moves the ground and really rocks. That joyo does the opposite. The signal becomes flat/shallow/weak. Also the switcht to clipping 2 sucks volume down. Not my pedal on my twin reverb. Maybe a cheaper amp likes it better. Btw I feel no need to run it through my odr mini.
