My problem with JP's design is he has some genuinely cool elements as a setplay character with strong stagger pressure, but instead it's much more optimal to spam zoning with him and do knockback combos to continue that gameplan as much as possible.

I actually think that if he losew jab into slash for knockback that it would be much MUCH more rewarding to get in because right now you get nothing if they mash because you cant Just Do It. Ex counter also needs to be three frames instead of one, you cant safejump jp.

I know exactly what Justin is talking about with spammy zoning. I mentioned this to friends. I love midrangers. Which is a form of zoning in its own right. Long ranged pokey normals (usually slow. Testament for example). Set up zoners are also skill expressive. Which I love to watch. Rachel Alucard from Blazblue is a good example of that. JP on the otherhand is an example of zoning that is... not healthy and boring to watch IMO. He is the Peacock (skullgirls) of zoning. Their win condition is immediately feasible at round start and is just keeping you away by filling the screen and limiting your mobility. Which instantly kills some characters in the roster. Makes them unplayable in the match up. And it sucks because characters like JP, Peacock and Morigan have super sexy rushdown/mix gameplay styles, but why bother when I can make my opponent not play the game. My fix would be that JP'a zoning shouldn't do so much drive gauge damage. By the time you get to him you have exhaustion. It'a cringe.

usually zoners have weak buttons, JP has almost the best buttons in the game on top of the crazy damage he does and having an optimal combo from 2 jab is far from ridiculous, to me the real problem with him is him being able to send you full screen starting from a crouching or standing jab, on top of that have a move that land exactly where you are and kicks you out of the air, is plain ridiculous.

They need to add serious scaling to his combos after OD amnesia and make it so that the bombs disappear if he gets hit. It would still be better than other OD reversals but at least he wont be able to take 60% of your health because you tried to throw him.

5:27 To answer the question, You can hit confirm JP Level 3 after OD Triglav, no need to cancel it, just hit confirm the move after it hit and you are good to go. It is the reason why I always use OD Triglav at the end of my combos when I am having Level 3.

I would argue that he's not fun to play nor watch. Of course, that's just personal opinion but I share Justin's opinion of him. I find guile and JP boring because of the fact they stay in one place for the most part. I get it. That's what a zoner specializes in. Funnily enough, Dhalsim is actually very entertaining for me despite being a zoner. Mainly because of the different tricks you can do with him along with his teleport shenanigans.

I used to hate JP but now i don’t got a issue. Everyone’s character is annoying. Most of Honda moves are safe, ken is degenerate, manon has crazy grabs, Ryu players are playing super Mario lol guile spams heavy and have 0 recovery. Kim players play 0 neutral due to slide. Everyone has a counter. I could keep going lol due to this I’m fine with JP

OD Amnesia shouldn't follow you after you hit him. His projectiles draw too much Drive metre. His "spinning stick" shouldn't send you full screen AND make you juggleable. There's more than enough one could fix mechanically.
