I just bought a looper with two sides looping and drums, but now realise what a learning curve I'm facing. Timing was the first problem. I'm also 87 so keeping up is not easy. This video explanation really helps me, so thanks! But I wonder why it is seemingly so necessary to edit out natural pauses between spoken sentences. These pauses are natural to music too. Without them, comprehension and music enjoyment is reduced. But great presentation otherwise!

That’s understandable and I take that on board. May I know the looper brand and model you got Michael?

I appreciate the chord progression tip. Building and switching between sections without spending too much tine seems complicated. But your method seems helpful.

Thanks 🙏 Spent a long time looping and learning loop pedals. It’s my thing. But it’s not hard to learn. Just needs practice and timing. 😊

@@JohnPaulMusicUK I'm using loopy pro. Thinking of getting some sort of midi pedal though to have a similar effect.

Thanks John. Really interesting. I've been using a Boss RC 20 for years. I bought it when they first came on the market around 2001. Now I've added a Boss RC 300 and having great fun with it. So much to learn though. To date I've mastered around 20% of it.

Thanks David. Yeah it’s as much as you need it. Some loopers are intuitive and make you more creative and some don’t. The rc300 is a really creative tool. I’m on the Headrush Looperboard now and just can’t stop playing with it.. 👍🏻

Always read the manual. It's normal but not for most of people i know . Thanks a lot JP

True true - lock yourself away in a room with your looper and the manual. Hehe Best way to get to know it. 👍🏻

I just don’t learn well from manuals. It’s a curse and I hate it, but I have to either be shown or just figure things out. My brain just shuts off when reading a manual.

If youre having trouble with timing the bass to the rhythm, try looping the bass first then record the rhythm.

@@JohnPaulMusicUK BTW you were mentionning systems to have the click in the ear without the public been able to hear it. Would you know if there is any of these systems that would work with a RC30?
@JohnPaulMusicUK

Hey Piment 👋 If you have a look at page 12 of the RC30 manual, it talks about the rhythm track and how you can use it for tempo. Unfortunately it can route it to just the ear but you can change the sound of it to be something subtle like a hi hat or just kick and hi hat. The alternative is have a smart phone in your pocket with headphone in one ear with a tempo app and use that. Not connected but with time and practice, you could get real good. Only issue is it could start going out of sync.. but useful to lay down a first / foundation loop and then discard the click.

❤❤. Pretty helpful my friend. Bass player just starting with the looper. I’m using a TC Ditto 4 to start. So if I wanted to add some different instruments do you have any suggestions how I might started doing that. I have GTL, Loopy Pro, and Quantiloop Pro on my iPad. Thanks again, I’m Grateful.

Hey 👋 Thanks for reaching out. The best advice would say the easiest would be to grab a USB mixer. You can get one pretty cheaply like the Behringer Q802USB and you can plug things into that and then you have a USB out to the iPad with a camera connection kit (lightning) or a USB-C connection. Only issue with that is it is a 2in 2Out interface so you can’t mix the separate inputs. You can, however get USB mixers that will give you multiple ins and outs via USB and you can have them separately on something like LP’s internal mixer. Sir, the tips are really great, would it if possible to explain the same with little bit of live demonstration in the next video?? That way it would be even clearer.
