So all loops are audio only? You can’t record a MIDI pattern as a loop? For play back to different vsts or external MIDI device? Same for cc control? No way to automate via loopy say a cutoff sweep on a vst? Thanks for the great content, it’s much appreciated 👏👏.

I have a question about midi in LP: is it possible to create widgets (buttons, knobs, faders) that send the various types of midi messages, and map them to parameters and actions in auv3 plugins, like Koala Sampler, which have internal midi learn system? To be clear: I'd like to know if I can create one (or more) virtual midi controller to pilot one (or more) instance of KS inside LP.

Hi John! Thanks of much for this video it really helped. I got a great system set up. The only challenge I'm having is getting a midi pedal to trigger an immediate stop. Any advice?

Yeah. Put Loopy Pro into midi learn and get it to assign the play / pause session button at the top left of the screen. That is your immediate stop instead of trying to stop loops. The nice thing is you can also say whether to reset back to the beginning (default) or pause and then carry on afterwards where it paused. 👍🏻 Hope that helps.

Great video, as usual. I love LP, but I can't get my workflow to work. I play guitar, and sing. I use Stage Traxx 3 as my lyrics, chords, and backing track app with up to 8 separate tracks. ST3 lets you control with MIDI as the song flows. I want to enhance this with LP to drive effects from other apps, in sync with ST3. How do I get an app, like ST3, to drive LP? I have tried various configurations and can't get this working. Any thoughts? Do you have any videos that can guide me?

Thank you for all the great vids and info, I have a question I have been trying to figure out, I have an Akai Mini 3 Pro and am trying to set it up in Loopy Pro, I can use they keys just fine by setting up a MIDI channel and either busing it to a color channel or another midi plugin channel but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the PADS to just to drums nor find a good drum pad Plugin. any hints or tips you or anyone has would be most welcome, thank you! Also, Is there a way to assign channels in Loopy PRO like we can do in the Ableton live lite? I can't seem to find the setting or parameters for this in Loopy pro and I have watched almost all of your video tutorials and you came close to my answer in one video on the MIDI but did not cover drum pad settings.

you can set the midi channel for a midi binding. if you use midi learn, it automatically chooses midi channel of the learned message. you can can that in control settings.

Loved this series, thank you. Got a question about midi and audio interfaces. I’ve got an xsonic xtone pro midi foot switch, which is fine but the interface side of it doesn’t have enough inputs for me. If I attach another audio interface in, can I just chose to use that one in the apps? I know you can’t run 2 interfaces but the xtone is handy as it’s got midi in/out as well, just don’t need the audio side of it.

Hey Dave 👋 Technically yes. You can choose which one is the audio interface, and I would plug that in first and choose it within Loopy Pro. Then when you plug in the midi foot switch, make sure it’s on its own midi channel and pict that for midi learn and you should be set 🤞🏻 Obviously with all the differences, this will be a trial by error but I don’t see why that wouldn’t work. Might need a powered USB hub for it all.

Does this program have a MIDI unlearn function? You know, for when you've mistakenly assigned 4 sliders to 1 loop, or anything like that, really? I mean, short of slamming your head continuously into your ipad screen before either walking away or throwing it against a wall?

I don't get "Midi Control" in the drop down menu. ??? Maybe, I need a "powered Usb hub" to power an my " Impact LX25" so Ipad come detect a midi controller device?? I know I need a powered Usb hub for my "audio interface" to work. .

I am so confused by this. I have an Akai MPK Miniplay (with speaker) and all I want to do is to connect that midi to Loopy Pro. I plugged the USB cable to my iPad Pro and I can get Loopy Pro to see and recognize the midi. But I can't figure out how to hear it and get the loops to record. What am I doing wrong?

I'm fairly new to both MIDI recording and to Loopy Pro. First off, does Loopy Pro handle MIDI MPE ... for example, I have a Seaboard Rise 25 and would like to connect it to record. And my second question is that when I open Loopy Pro, and add MIDI, it shows 3 choices for GeoShred .... one as a GeoShred Midi "processor", another as GeoShred "Instrument" and 3rd choice as presumably a GeoShred "virtual instrument" because it has that black & white "virtual MIDI" icon. What are the differences?

Hello, I am having trouble with MIDI mapping in loopy pro, here’s the problem : when I map multiple pages of control surfaces to a MIDI controller for instance, if I map slide 1 in page A to cc 1, then it automatically map to the first side or Dial in every pages, is there any settings I can do? I tried to rename the sliders and dials but it will still be detect as it’s original order. 😂

In the midi binding setup there is an option for whether the binding applies to the current page only or whether it applies to the active page. Activate midi learn and tap on the widget and tap”this page only”

Yes thats very cool, IMO what all people expect most here is called MIDI Clips, that is what you do not deliver. Please tell that to the people and tell them, it will come. I mean hardware control is cool, but thats def basic functionality as everybody so or so expects. Kids def want that loopy circle with a MIDI Step Sequencer in it. Please!
