I *LOVE* how you have the old school Monster Manual on display amidst the newer books. That is the book that got me into d&d all those years ago when I saw it in a bookstore as a kid!!!! have spent so many hours just looking at all the cool drawings in that book!!! (Also, this video is AWESOME! Thanks!)

Hey JP. I really dig your art style for map making. Would you consider making a map for a different setting? I’m specifically curious what your take on a steampunk/sci-fi/dystopian future map might look like. Possibly for a Eberron type setting within D&D. I haven’t seen anyone else try to tackle this and I know that you would kill it. Much love from Sacramento.

Hey- found you snooping around KZbin - brilliant. I really enjoy the way you talk to your audience- so encouraging and entertaining. Thank you for taking the time to share your talent. Of all the Chanel’s I have found yours to be the most enjoyable, playful and informative. Well done! I’ve been drawing maps and running my home brew D&D/ DCC classics for literally decades. I’ve basically run every game through my world lens and this has provided a rich tapestry from which I can continually draw from. Id love to share some images and some history if you are interested :). Now back to watching some more of your vids. Kirk

Nifty video. I really appreciate how you relentlessly stress that before you draw the map, one should practice drawing the elements. Have you ever used a sort of strange bendy rulers to make lettering along a curved line? These tools vaguely remind me of a piece of smooth, but still fairly stiff (and fat) licorice. The one I have (not sure where it is, though) is made out of a kind of rubber or early malleable plastic. I believe one would draw the curve first, and then add the lettering atop the curve, though I never actually saw it demonstrated. I suspect these were 20th century creations, as I suspect it required some sort of injection molding of rubber or plastic to form them. Anyway, I guess my point is, if you can find one of these tools, you might appreciate it.

Thanks! Never used a bendy ruler, but have used french curves before. Those bendys do look fun though!

I think that the bendy ruler you are talking about is the Flexicurve rulers... they are quite handy and as it says in the name are pretty flexible curve rulers made from rubber (at least the one that I have) that can adapt to every curve that we need

@@morenilloxxl Yes! When I Google the term, that shows what I have, though mine is just a faded blue with no actual tick marks for measuring. Thanks for the name.
