For the two layer triangle cube, there's a fairly simple way you can determine which side is the top when inspecting, by counting up the number of pieces in each orientation along a particular path that winds around the cube's edges.

I've said this many times and I'll say it again: seeing your problem solving flow and structure is super fascinating and insightful, and really shows how your good you analysis understanding of absolutely new puzzles For the ending quote, I don't think it'll be too possible since that will make the top/bottom face a 1D line, unless say we designate 2 sides to be "void" then It'll just be a floppy cube(?). But I'm probably thinking too normatively here, anyone who can break common sense should think about it

Mahhir Shrestha 0 seconds ago Hey j perm really love your videos I have made my own method of solving the 3×3 by sorta combining CFOP and ROUX : Step 1 : do the roux method till cmll is completed Step 2 : in sert the white red and white orange edge piece in the correct spot by using M and U moves Step 3 : after inserting the edges only 3 types of OLL can appere one looks like a I with two edges not flipped , another has no edges fliped only the cornors and another one is the most common one with two edges not flipped and It look like a big fish Step 4: do the 1 look OLL for those three OLLs Step 5: do a U perm and the cube is solved( only U perms will appeare in the PLL I hope you will read this comment love your videos

I've been buying these and trying the same before watching and it's been a blast, had a lot easier of a time with this one thinking of it more like a triangular squan rather than a 3x3 since it's a puzzle with r2 only moves + each slice swaps half of each face. It's super cool to spend a bit of time with each of these puzzles and after solving it going back and seeing what you come up with, for this one the thought process ended up being super different! I loved the megaminx last layer part, never would have come up with that given that I did corners first.

7:36 I think I have an idea on why you got a flipped equator edge on the pentacle cube. Since every double turn makes a flip on an edge on the equator slice, and a flip affects two edges in the equator slice, we are flipping 2 edges in reality. There is no way you can reach an odd number of equator edges flipped, as we can't add even numbers to get to an odd number, which is similar to the concept on swaps from your parity and impossible cases video. The thing that happened while you encountered the situation was that in the equator you could have swapped 2 edges, and you would remain with a 2-flip, it wasn't a single edge flip.

Great video! Do you have any tips on improving my cross? Planning it isn't the problem for me, but the execution. It takes me about 2-3 seconds, but I average 17 (my cross is ~1.5 seconds slower than it should be)

On some sites for each scramble you can decide the number of moves required to solve the cross, start practicing execution on 3 moves crosses, then 4, 5, etc. You have to do them as fast as possible. Or just randomly scramble your cube : do only the cross while trying to be extremely fast, you don’t have to care about lock-ups while training

For the larger puzzle you can do the second layer pieces last using a slice move rotating just that layer

Based on what I think can solve the 3 layer version is. Solve the middle layer first ,before solving the bottom side.. Once the layer is solve. You'll just use R2 turn in one side . You dont need to use other sides on a triangle so the E slice wont messed up. If you want to align corners from the bottom, youll just do D turn.

When you talked at 3minutes about corner parities, I feel that, similar thing happened to me... many times. You look at 4 corners, but there are only 6, so you are swapping 2 corners at the same time, hence parity. Small cubes often are super deceiving.
