During 1980s IBM advertised their computers as so efficient that people can work just 1-2 hours a day. But we have seen the opposite. People create new type of work and we are still working 9 hours a day. Computers created so many new type of job that didn't exist before. Definitely AI will also create new type of jobs that can't even imagine now. We will definitely be working same hours as demand will also increase.

Computers helped humans work more efficiently and indeed created new set of jobs, but AI has been created to mimic human behavior, at the moment it can only help humans be more efficient but it's evolving in such a way it will completely replace humans in the work force, and then where will people get their income from?

Automation was not the power but how fast work could be get done was. AI is not just a mere tool. It can do things at the level of human mind. It can do a lot of things what for which brain was required. And with this development we all know AGI is going to come as well. And in that case lot of jobs are not going be there and none are going to created in this place. Earlier the barrier of entry increased. But now leave barrier the entire system won't be existing.

Other countries leveraging AI will overtake us if we don't use AI. Regulating is not the answer. Political parties tried to stop using computers during 2000 and now we know how nonsense idea that was. Training people with new skills is what is needed.

​@@parthapal333AI and computers are working very differently I hope you understand that. The strongest part of Human is Human intelligence. That is what made us apex predators. Computer didn't have Human intelligence but AI or the more advanced version the AGI will be having intelligence of it's own. So it can pull off work on it's own at some point. Computers had be operated AI would have to be monitored. Just like employees are monitored. Extremely different tangents of work. Training in computers helped for decades to come. Since after a certain point it didn't challenge your Human intelligence but AGI would challenge your strongest weapons Training in AI is important and we have to leverage it but the hard fact is also that this is very different than what we dealt with 25 yrs back. AGI is going to challenge your Human intelligence in coming decades even how much you would be trained. You and me we all know that.

@@saptarshipal6743 yes I agree but only if we get AGI. We were amazed when first chatgpt came, but it didn’t really improved much in 2 years. So we don’t even know how far is AGI and if we will see real AGI in our lifetime or not. I am using some paid ai tools like github copilot for about a year now and I can say it has improved my productivity around 20 percent- not more than that. I don’t see this exponentially improving - only companies are creating ai hype to sell their products

In a capitalistic world, if you work for 3.5 days a week, you get paid for 3.5 days a week. So, no AI does not fix the work-life balance. This will remain a conscious decision of the workers, government, and companies involved. Also, the relationship between AI and job losses is a complicated one. When AI does free up more labour, the labour will invest more time and imagination in discovering new things to do and consume. Our basket of goods never remains the same. it keeps evolving as we develop. Some of the existing goods and services will become cheaper due to AI, leaving room for newer more non-discretionary / convenience-oriented goods and services, which will plug the gap of job created due to AI. Of course, it will not be a smooth ride but we will stumble upon the new path.

Robots will create more jobs only problem is people need to get trained for it. The more complex a machine is, the more maintenance it requires. Right from software update, to servicing the mechanical and electronic parts. Also to create it, design it, test it, assemble it. The jobs get transferred. If a company create an android and the 100 other companies will also build and android the next day or else, it will be expensive like Tesla, that only the rich can afford. Also don't forget the number of jobs lawyers will have because people will sue as the companies are sell their robots/androids as an all in one solution.

I still need a human alarm clock to wake me up. 10 digital alarm clock does not work effectively on me. Humans are imperfect, too. So what the fuss is about. I am only bothered about one negative aspect of AI. Where would the human workforce get accommodated? How would governments deal with unemployment? In order to deploy AI. You need somebody who can operate it. So you need experts in the IT sector. But not everybody has studied computer science. Either all educational institutes add computer sciences in their curriculum or wait for a disaster to happen.

Well, in the next ten years developers will have to work ZERO Days; yup, they will go out of work so they don't have to work at all. Jokes apart, most of the law Offices in the US have gotten rid of para-legal resources and instead use chatbots to do the initial discovery for their clients. IMO, AI should first replace the roles of high paying jobs; this will help save the companies big dollars. Secondly, any company that uses AI should be taxed double to recover lost income tax.
