Absolutely! These Musicians were (Marcus is Still With Is 🙏) Master's of their Craft! No Alto Ever Sounded like David! David Sanborn Did Not consider him self to be a Real Jazz Musician? He was Much too Humble!! Still Love "Run For Cover" & "Chicago Song"......and about Everything David ever played! ❤ (He even made David Bowie 😮 sound good, on Young American's! 😮 That was Very Hard To Do! 😮😅😂) Love This Music!! 👍💪🙏❤

My 1 year old baby is HIPNOTIZED every time I put this on. He even forgets about his mommy, no matter if she is standing in front of him. Dads an moms, get your children to hear good music like this as soon as possible, they have more neurons than us, they are white pages starving for new stuff to fill their amazing brains.

Understanding jazz not only increases your ability to hear what is in music, but also increases your ability to see what is in life.
@Mark-pp7jy
@Mark-pp7jy Жыл бұрын
There's very little I understand about Jazz... except that it reaches me in a way other types don't. Totally agree about seeing the world differently! ✌️♥️
@semigeniusreally8988
@semigeniusreally8988 Жыл бұрын
@@Mark-pp7jy Here's a brief lesson about how to "understand" jazz. First, understand that there are only two types of music in the world: Jazz; and all the other music in the world. Jazz is as much a language or form of personal expression as it is music, and, like a fine scotch whiskey, it is an acquired taste, requiring "educating" your mind to accept it like you "educate" your taste buds to ultimately "understand" scotch. Simply stated, and without going into the construct of jazz, try to hear each musician as expressing his extemporaneous feelings in that moment, operating freely but always within the space, tempo and melody that the song provides. When you see and hear a musician taking a solo within the song's structure, try to listen to the rhythm section keeping time and the context of the melody and then try to imagine yourself playing that solo by stepping inside the soloists head and trying to feel rather than simply hear what he is expressing as part of himself and his feelings in the moment. Jazz is maleable and lends itself to many of its own forms as well as other genres of music, simply because it is an expression of feelings as much as it is an independent form of music. Try listening to this piece maybe three times consecutively to get the gist of what I am saying: It is extremely complicated the first time you hear it, but if you listen to it again and once again, you will get over the newness and the challenge of understanding it and find a level of profound enjoyment for what is going on on that stage and how it can change what you are feeling as well. Play special attention to the underlying tune and beat which continues in the backgroud throughout. It showcases the God of All Music, Miles Davis. Use speakers or audiphones to enjoy deeply. And good luck. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWaUhmZujpiaf6c

I get what you mean, but there were and are always Jazz "experts" critics, who say this is jazz and this not jazz.. that is what they did for example with Miles Davis with his 70s and especially 80s stuff, which I love the most..Miles also always said Jazz is a white man term.. pretty funny
@semigeniusreally8988
@semigeniusreally8988 11 ай бұрын
@@leobulero3485 The problem is that the so-called "experts" tend to identify the type of Jazz that they grew up with as the true form of Jazz. What they don't realilze - or care to admit - is that Jazz is more than just a musical form; it is a language unto itself and, even more, is a "vibe" that can easily translate into other genres of music...Latin Jazz, Brazilian Jazz, Acid Jazz, etc. In short, Jazz is a profound sense of "soul"and is not limited to any specific era or expression. I hear Jazz in some Country music (the Allman Brothers' "Whipping Post"), in Marc Anthony's salsa, in Ivan Lins's Bossa Nova, in Buika's and Joan Manuel Serrat's flamenco and Spanish music, and in the Motown and R&B of Marvin Gaye, all for example. In short, you can "feel" Jazz as much or more than hear it and when you arrive at that spiritual level of emotional understanding, you can more fully appreciate what I wrote in my initial post above. Listen with your heart, not your ears or your head. If you can deeply appreciate Miles' and Coltrane's "Round About Midnight" and have an equally profound appreciation for Miles's "Tutu," you have arrived.
@semigeniusreally8988
@semigeniusreally8988 11 ай бұрын
@@leobulero3485 About the best way I can introduce you to what the real essence of Jazz is is to ask you to listen to the total, spontaneous creativity of two future Jazz gods creating their interpretation of a very simple, pop song just by"feeling each other" and speaking the same language without uttering a single word. I will give you the link for the song as originally produced in Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" for a point of reference, and then turn you over to Herbie and Chick to show you what Jazz and sponteneity and synergy between musicians in the Jazz idiom is all about: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fn20Y6aPrdCng7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2XSp3SHg7OgjbM (I might add that every time I hear this collaboration, it brings me to tears.)

Let me weigh in-64 year old here. Turned on to the white group album by my rocker friend of all people. Fell in love with it right away in 1979. First time I saw Pat live was later that summer playing with another of my favorite musicians, Joni Mitchell and that insane band she assembled. I doubt that I have gone 3-4 days since without listening to something Pat oriented. He got me through college, starting a family, a career, how many job interviews did I go into listening to Pat getting pumped up! I love him so much and am so grateful for all the incredible music. All the iterations-I’ve seen and heard them all-I’m sure I’ve seen him live at least 50 times and will continue as long as he does! Many here have said he is the soundtrack to their lives and that rings so true for me too. This particular song is so emblematic of his incredible journey and career. Oh and I miss Lyle so much particularly knowing that Pat wanted and had plans to reconnect musically with him 😢

This is by far the best version I've heard of this. Loved them all... Miller's intro, Duke just absolutely slammed it, and my man Sanborn is STILL at the top of his game. Great blend of gifts... RIP Bro Duke. You wowed me with your gift for over thirty five years. Thank you. #ShineOn

My goodness!! 3 masters playing together. I loved them all. God bless David and Duke, who went to be with our Lord and Savior. They're now playing concerts for God in heaven. God bless Marcus...there will only be one bass player in my mind and no one will be able to duplicate him...ever! This trio and their music have gotten me through some rough times in my life. Jazz has changed over here on the East Coast over the years but their music never will. I love them all for their music.
