Scotland looks beautiful! Your dad and I can’t wait to visit. We take umbrage to your depiction of the US. We have screwed up a lot but also fine done good too. No country is innocent and you have to keep in mind that there is history and the present and the future. Love the present you are experiencing in Scotland and the UK. We all have a lot to learn about our past to be better now and in the future, which is you. Hello the Lady Erica. The lad Joel is doing a fine job of exploring and presenting his impressions of the UK. My connection was a Scots father so I know the area Joel's been through in this video. He's right that the camera can't catch the magic of being stood in a place that's wrapped in history and events, feeling the breeze on your face hearing the sounds of water tumbling down a hillside or as waves lapping on a shore. As Joel remarked you can watch any number of videos but nothing compares to being stood in the place. You may need an interpreter for when he gets back home if the Scottish accent roots itself any deeper ( aye )

There's something about Scotland. Living on a tiny island in the Mediterranean Sea, nothing could be further from home than Scotland in ambience and weather, and yet when I visited, I felt right at home, as if I belonged there. A second and third visit did nothing to dispel that feeling. Truly magical. Glen Coe is something else. We kept stopping our rental car to soak it all in. The Scottish have every right to be proud of their country. It's amazing.

As a half-English, half-Scottish person (though currently living in Australia), I agree. It would be so heart-breaking to lose Scotland as part of our community. The idea of needing a passport to go from England to Scotland, where I've travelled before without anything but a 'Scotland' sign to mark the border just feels weird and wrong. However, like you, I understand if people are genuinely feeling they get a raw deal from the Union, and believe they'd do better on their own, and are unable to negotiate a better situation, then independence must be the way to go.

You hit the nail on the head about the origins of Scottish stoicism, pride and humour. And it’s breathtakingly beautiful too. And when you come back some time, you could easily spend weeks exploring Scotland and never get bored. Hi, I’m born and bred in Scotland. I come from a small town called Airdrie which is just outside Glasgow about 15-20 minutes by train and an hour away from Edinburgh. I’m happy to see you enjoying your trip to Bonnie Scotland despite the weather. I hope you had a great time and made lots of memories. Haste ye back (which means hope you come back) take care and safe travels 😘 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸

Hi JP....We were up in Scotland just a few days before you which was a cancelled trip from 3 years ago due to you know what !! & you are right a camera does not do it justice you have to see it with your own eyes the absolute beauty of the Scottish landscape ! We took the train from Yorkshire to Glasgow via Edinburgh & went to Loch Lomond then the following day we took the train up to Fort William & then got on the Hogwarts's express to Mallaig then we did the reverse journey over 5 days & had a final overnight stay in Glasgow before returning home ! I would highly recommend it to anyone !

I find it quite funny how last time you visited it was extraordinarily warm and this time it's gloomy and relatively cool. Really sums up the weather in the UK, we might not have extreme weather but our weather is extremely bipolar..

None of our countryside is really untouched. There should be much heavier tree cover and clearing small farming communities of the land for sheep did an huge amount of both social and environmental damage. Basically our countryside hasn't been really wild for centuries and certainly not since the agricultural and industrial revolutions, but the upside is that we don't have famines any more and it's very beautiful.

As a Canadian, I was surprised to see a Tim Horton's breakfast at the beginning of this vlog! Didn't know our national coffee shop had stores in Scotland. I hope the food and coffee were better than they are here in Newfoundland and Labrador!🤔😉🇨🇦

Of course, I did the original Tim Hortons in Cochrane, Ontario. I have visited Newfoundland & Labrador BY TRAIN (Sept Iles to Schefferville, including a ride on the locomotive from Emeril Junction to Esker). Done every railroad in Canada from Carcross Yukon Territory and Prince Rupert and Vancouver, to Calgary, Moosonee, Sarnia, Windsor, Niagara, Senneterre, Jonquiere, Quebec and Halifax. Much love from London England.

This is more like it....I could see you were enjoying yourself here. The best video so far on this trip. Loved it...Well done! Those views are certainly gobsmacking..... Sometimes the rain is more suited to certain landscapes and this is one instance. I have never been to Scotland, but this has given me the appetite to make the effort and go. I was very interested to see there was a "Timmie's" (Tim Horton's) there; I lived in Canada for a while some years ago and their branches were literally on every street corner (well almost). I found their coffee and faire very good value for money. Hope you get to eat a proper sit down meal at some stage on your journey...maybe when you get to York, your host on YO1 will treat you to one of his Yorkshire pudding/roast beef meals. Enjoy yourself....BTW enjoyed the background music on this.

Hi, from the wee county of Clackmannanshire (near Stirling for the uninitiated😀). So glad you're enjoying Scotland. It's normally a bit sunnier at this time of year, but we've had a very dry spring, followed by a long heatwave heatwave and finally lots of desperately needed rain this month, which is good as our reservoirs were getting very low and so were our rivers. We moan about the rain but it's what makes our countryside so green and beautiful. I have never been so thankful for the rain! The part of Scotland has a lot of poverty and problems, but is very beautiful, with warmhearted people.

I've travelled all over the UK and the west coast of Scotland has some of the best scenery, especially around Fort William. When it's sunny it obviously looks spectacular but the rain is so typical of this part of Britain and I'm glad you experienced it this way, a sort of classic way to see the highlands. Pleased that you've been here and for me this was perhaps the best vlog so far, although all are excellent. Keep up the great work mate. 🙂

8:50 "some of the views you get in Scotland make you question whether this is actually Earth!" Funny you should say that; Star Wars: Andor had one of its most terrific sequences filmed there ... Scotland doubled as planet Aldhani, with an actual hydro-electric dam doubling as a sort of imperial Fort Knox that our heroes needed to rob! It was all filmed on location, and looked brilliant and gorgeous!
