JP you either have an incredible amount of hives or you know every single beekeeper in your state. How you spot the queen so quickly nearly every time is simply amazing. I've gained so much respect for the bees after watching you, I must say you've truly inspired me to be a bee keeper. Just got my hives though I'll be wearing a suit when tending them.

Here in Arizona we have plenty of AHB's, and people get stung just by walking by a hive, often that they didn't even see. But these hives you fully take apart, and they don't attack. Would AHB's let you dismantle their hive? Thanks JP.

I don't know HOW you stop yourself from eating comb after comb! LOL. I've earned the nickname of Pooh Bear amongst family because of my deep love for honey (ESPECIALLY honey comb!!). I'd never get any work done I'd be too busy relishing all that honey! LOL I was positively salivating during this video! Then when you showed the still photos at the end and you can see that beautiful golden comb…OMG... I had to go into the kitchen just now and take a few spoonfuls of some local (just down the road), raw, organic honey I have in my cupboard. :) You're so lucky/blessed. What a DELICIOUS job!

I saw Bear Grylls do it once and now I really want to do it, he got some of the honey comb and eat the honey and the comb together. Looks really tasty and fun. Just wondering have you ever done it and if so does it taste good?
@JPthebeeman10 жыл бұрын
We call that cut comb honey, do it all the time but you likely wouldn't want to swallow comb, won't hurt anything really but would be the equivalent to swallowing spent gum
@2k10pringle10 жыл бұрын
JPthebeeman Well thanks for replying. Anyway spent gum sounds nice haha
@paulaward445410 жыл бұрын
My dad lived next to an old walled garden that someone kept beehives in. He got some honeycombs from them sometimes, and yes its really tasty. You can eat the wax, but normally you would spit it out like gum after all the honey is off it.

When you use the bee vac, does it kill the bees??
@JPthebeeman5 жыл бұрын
PJ a good bee vac has a regulator that controls suction power, good ventilation & a large enough capacity to allow the bees to spread out inside of the catch box. The ones I use accomplish this & casualties are kept to an absolute minimum.
@PJJ1965 жыл бұрын
Gotcha! Thanks for the insight.. keep up with the amazing work brother

That's cool, bee removal to Alice and Chains, nice. I saw one of your other videos using the vacuum and it looks like it went into a deep box and this one I just see a regular shop vac, just curious how that works and what happens to the bees as they build up in there?
@theincredibleshrunkenbeegu70848 жыл бұрын
JP, I know you rarely wear a bee suit / veil, but HOW are you keeping them out of your hair and beard!? That's been my biggest struggle this year on my new bees. I can pull an old t-shirt over my hair and beard, they stay plenty calm. But as soon as I take off that covering, I'm cooked. I'm asking, because some days it's tooo bloody hot here in NC for a full suit / veil. Naturally, as I'm writing this, it gets to the 10 minute mark on the column and it shows you smoking yourself up. Do you do that every time? And it's not the stings that bother me, it's all the buzzing from 4 or 5 bees caught up under my furry chin. I learned my first year that owning hives means getting stung.
@JPthebeeman8 жыл бұрын
+The Incredible Shriniking Bee Guy if you're finding they go to your beard or hair on a consistent basis definitely try smoking your hair & beard before going in. Other than that I have no explanation why they don't go into my beard or hair more often than they do.
@theincredibleshrunkenbeegu70848 жыл бұрын
I'll try it the very next time I open the hive. And once again, I love your videos. I showed my wife [..who is allergic to bee stings...] the Unofficial Worlds Largest Hive Shake video last night. She was speechless at first, but admitted it was awesome.
