I might be wrong here but taking into account gen 1 misses increases the odds of missing twice in a row. It's 0,156^2=2,4336%. So it should round to 2,4%

Gen 1 miss only affects moves with 100% accuracy. With less than 100% the result that causes a gen 1 miss would result in a regular miss, even without the bug. So you should not count it as an extra possibility.

Since this is a heavy Wrap run, a quick primer on Wrap in Gen 1 competitive for those who don't know: First, AgiliWrap, the cheese strategy that Dragonite is infamous for: You para everything, make sure Rhydon is dead for PP reasons, get Dragonite in safely (probably via Explosion), then start rolling 85% Wraps and 50% full paralysis checks. Incredibly frustrating when you lose to it, but it's not as good as you think, which is why Dragonite is not OU. 67% of a Gen 1 OU team probably has an ice move, and the rest of the team probably has Thunder Wave, so finding a free turn to safely click Agility can be quite rare. Dragonite is the only mon with Agility + Wrap; Fire Spin + Agility also exists on a few mons, but Fire is an awful defensive type in Gen 1 competitive so it doesn't see use. Tentacruel in UU also uses Wrap, however it uses it much differently. Wrap mechanics are such that if you're in the middle of Wrap, and you switch, the opponent does not get to move that turn (they can still switch), so against anything Tent outspeeds, it's effectively modern U-turn spread over two moves. Very useful for getting a frail offensive mon like a Kadabra or a Persian into battle safely.

Victreebel can do something similar with Stun Spore and Wrap, but it's much less reliable than the standard Wrap usage and the poison typing makes it very vulnerable to all the Alakazams and Kadabras running around. It does get guaranteed Razor Leaf crits, though.

Admittedly this is a silly nitpick but I feel like since tentacool didn’t hit level 63 until after the final battle ended, she should get 62 on the tier list. The same thing has almost certainly happened to other Pokémon in these challenges, but I was so focused on exp and levels bc of the commentary so now I feel like our beautiful jellyfish has been slighted and I will revolt against this channel if justice isn’t served /j As usual awesome stuff from the channel, loved the color palette and the editing!

As you said, the slow level up group for tentacool probably means the devs knew it and its evolution had really good stats. Which means that they had one of the best mons in the game (it is tied with Gengar for 5th best bst - or 4th depending on how you count since Gyarados and Exeggutor have the same) not only be easily available, but act as a nuisance that pops up in your face all the time.

Tentacrual's current base stat total is 515 with it's highest stat being special defense at a very respectable 120. It's current special attack is only 80. However, it's gen 1 special stat was 120. Ajusted for modern pokemon, it's gen 1 base stat total was 555. That's the same base stat total as current Arcanine. Gen 1 Arcanine, after adjustments, is actually 535, 20 lower than it's current total. They designed Tentacrual to be a powerful special attacker with solid speed and bulk. Now it's just mid. So many solid gen 1 pokemon were absolutely made worse from the change to the special stat. Imo, they shouldn't have changed it so that they are functionally different pokemon. Absolutely some pokemon needed to be reballanced, but not gutted like Tentacrual was

You also have pokemon like Snorlax and, to a lesser extent, the Hitmons, who were insanely buffed by the special split for no readily apparent reason. It still feels weird in retrospect how many pokemon had their functionality totally altered in the generational shift.

Articuno got shafted hard there. Both Moltres and Zapdos kept 120 special attack, but in accordance to the BS law of Gamefreak trying to shoehorn the worst defensive typing in the game into the tank role, Articuno got 120 Special Defense.

@@DemonRaticate Big time. Its movepool was already quite empty to begin with. Blizzard getting its accuracy cut to 70% didn't help either. It was also walled by Water/Ice types and was hard walled by Cloyster (at least in Gen 1 and probably Gen 2 as well). It's also not like it was fantastic defensively. It would still get wrecked by Rock Slide. The Hitmons and Fighting types in general getting a Special buff through the Special split was a good change to be fair though. Snorlax probably didn't need it but then again, maybe it did.

Yep. And the next fastest Pokemon that can have Spore is Smeargle who doesn't learn it by level-up and the next one is Breloom who also has to delay evolution to be able to get it. Though Scarlet and Violet fixed that somewhat with a wild Tera Breloom who has Spore.
