In defense of Electrode's and Voltorb's design, I think it's actually a pretty clever one. They're supposed to be Pokémon's take on a mimic or mimik, a very popular mob from the Jrpg genre,which used to be played by most back then. @Laezar12 жыл бұрын
The mimic idea is great, the evolution from voltorb to electrode is where it falls a bit short. I feel a better design would have been to have the first form be a voltorb and the second form be like the "opened" version of the mimic where you see it's true form. Maybe give it an additionnal type too. Something like grass/electric where you realize the pokeball is host to a mass of vines would be really cool. (or something else really that's just a random idea) Hey actually fun idea to expand on that, what if you had both tangela and voltorb evolve into electrode, that'd be amusing and you could imagine having them learn different moves early on so depending on which evolution path you chose the movepool you have access to is slightly different. That's something I don't think was explored in the series. Maybe it's not the best direction to take it, but overall I'm sure there was a way to make more interestiing than "voltorb again, but reversed".

After you mentioned Raichu I started thinking about how that run will go and realized that while it might end up faster than Electrode in the late game, it's gonna have a baaaaaad time against Brock. The only attacking move it learns by level up in Gen 1 is Thundershock, which means you *have* to use Struggle against Brock (since Onix and Geodude are both immune to Thundershock). Once you get past Brock I imagine it'll just be a better Electrode since it has better attack and access to better normal moves near the start (and Thundershock for Misty and the pre-Surge rival battles), but that Brock battle is gonna be an oof. I'm very curious to see what level it ends up being possible at, because I can't imagine it's any lower than 25 or so. Relying on Struggle is going to make Onix a nightmare (high defense + recoil from Struggle + no other moves to use when Onix uses Bide = bad time for Raichu). You're pretty much guaranteed to take like at least 35 damage from Struggle's recoil alone, and then if Geodude attacks you or Onix uses Bide you're in trouble. Raichu's HP isn't great so I could see that adding up quickly. EDIT: I just remembered Abra having to do this as well, it got through at 27 with some close calls at slightly lower levels. So maybe Raichu won't be as bad as I thought, it has a much higher attack than Abra does so theoretically it should get through faster, but I imagine the recoil issue and Bide are still going to be a nightmare for a while.

Also, month of Jrose through the new year would be the most hype thing on KZbin, been watching your content for the last 3 years, seen all your videos, by far my favorite content creator. But of course enjoy your holidays my man! Love to see you back and killing it

Do Pokėmon fans not realize that Electrode and Voltorb are supposed to be mimics? The design is actually really creative
@autobotstarscream7652 жыл бұрын
And according to early official artwork, when they explode, they don't actually explode into pieces, they just open up where a Poké Ball would, like how the mouth of the Mimic is where the opening of the chest would be.

S comes from a grading scheme some japanese schooles use where a perfect grade is S (shū). Basically a perfect grade above an A.

Hey there Jrose, just wanna let you know you can heal your team on the SS Anne, try to remember that for your next run! :D /s Jokes aside, I'm incredibly curious what your video making process is like. Especially now that I know you have your own editor who edits at least some videos, I'm EXTREMELY curious how you write and read your script. I'd just love to know, could be a video sometime in the future :)

While it would be awesome if the Month of Jrose is extended, please don't feel obligated to. The content you've been putting out is incredible, but you also need to take care of yourself. If you need to take a break at any time, we'll get it. We don't want you to burn yourself out.

S Tier seems to come from some Japanese schools using an "S" grade for scores higher than A. I'm skeptical of any English sources claiming the "S" stands for something specific. As for game use, it may have started with King of Fighters? Certainly an early example.

S Rank is a grade in the academic grading in japan, usually given to the >90% percentile. That's why most japanese games have a S Rank for ranking purposes.

25:45 No need to divulge strategy? Let me guess. Since Electrode is so fast as to outspeed all of Rival 6's pokemon, you plan to Mimic Horn Drill and use it on the toughies. Edit: Guess I was wrong.
