And in-game, at least, Slow Start, on a Pokemon who still outruns most everything really encountered and has amazing coverage there, only lasts a little while to be a nuisance. Competitively, its stats have competition with Slaking, who boasts, in the short run, a little more in-your-face curb stomping, but Slak's ability is also pretty awful overall. Two amazing-by-stats Normal types who have to be hindered somehow to prevent screwing most teams over.

Crush Grip is literally just physical Wring Out. What a waste of a signature move. Granted, the Abra line's Kenesis is pretty much just pointless since they just die to a physical hit anyways, and they'd rather use other moves. Also, the random really, really minor nerf to Wring Out and Crush Grip just makes no sense. They just made it so the formula is 120 X (Target's current HP/Target's max HP) > or = 1 rather than 120 X (Target's current HP/Target's max HP) +1.

So that doesn't actually work. Slow Start modifies the stats as soon as you switch in, so removing the skill does nothing. You'd need to negate the ability before entering (I think the new Wheezing might negate abilities?) In order to have this work

And gain resistances such as water, grass, flying, fairy (unlikely but would be nice for another fairy check and give ice more competitive usage), and maybe even rock since glaciers carve into bedrock

I guess since I never really got much into competitive stylings (few close calls here and there, but nothing stuck), I always went more with type coverage and matchups. Swampert remains my absolute favorite Pokemon, for a few reasons: Water typing (#1); Electric negation (#2, really important for Water types to get past); Ice applicability (#3, messes with a lot more types, including the infamously deadly Grass quadruple weakness); mixed sweeping (#4, can either screw over on the Physical or Special side, though it is much better to be a Physical crasher).

It’s a decent mixed wall that can hit back better than many comparable Pokémon. Obviously there’s the carrot that if you can keep it alive for those 5 turns it suddenly becomes a pretty great sweeper. In fact, if you can get off a power-up punch or two then combined with Drain Punch, surviving the slow start is basically a win condition. I’ve used Regigigas in PU with decent success - there are many, many Pokémon worse than it in that tier (and I think Articuno and especially Phione are examples of such Pokémon)

Hoopa C - Agree, taking x4 from commonly used moves is bad, plain and simple Virizion - Sorta Agree, I see occasionally in RU, but not often, there was interesting Psychium Z set though, that pique my interest in this thing, so I'll agree due to a lack of having used it. Mesprit - Agree, but not if we're talking about PU, seeing it is a defining face of that tier, but that's all it has going for it, and I've always been, and always will be a sucker for the lord of garbage, but it's something that isn't worth writing home about Regirock - Agree, good rock setter kinda, but not really Registeel - HARD DISAGREE, Ever since Stealth Rock, steel has seen consistent play, in UU in the beginning, and eventually dropping to RU with still decent rock setting, he is just A better version of Regirock, in every way imaginable, his Protect/Toxic/Leftover while not amazing, it suffices, he enjoys having Seismic Toss as well, so, I couldn't possibly disagree more Articuno - Agree, it's sad but true, at least Moltress has been rising up the ranks recently, picking up on some insane rises Regice - Agree sort of, it was great at the beginning of its career in R/S/E because all of the things that had super-effective on it were physical locked, which defense investment, or just covering it with another physical wall was an honestly good strategy, however, it's the lack of recovery that killed it, it's the Physical/Special Split Phione - Agree, it just a small tiny glowy to be good, but nah, it doesn't have that leisure Regigigas - Agree, unless it's doubles and you pair it with Cofagrigus, slapping it to get rid of Slow start, but in this case, most people just use Slaking instead

I think arguing over classifying all the special Pokémon in the games is the dumbest thing. Game Freak just tries to do things that are interesting/different. If they want to take all Pokémon that can only be found once and not in a random encounter and start calling them “Jellyfish”, what does that change for us? Oh but next generation we added a Pokémon that has all the same attributes as a Jellyfish but this one isn’t a Jellyfish because it’s brown and jellyfish aren’t brown and now the whole world can fight over whether or not it’s a Jellyfish and WHATTAYA KNOW Game Freak announces that all brown Pokémon are now called Cuttlefish. It’s kind of lame you can breed phione. Getting it’s egg at the end of the Pokémon ranger game and transferring to whichever generation game was out at the time (diamond/pearl? I can’t remember) was one of my favorite ways I got a legendary Pokémon. It’s kind of convoluted since you have to beat ranger to get it, but it made me feel really proud to have it. Oh well! Phione is cute anyway.

The worst Pokemon type is actually grass, not ice. Grass type Pokemon have 5 type weaknesses, and can't get stab moves that do even regular damage to 7 Pokemon types. At least ice types can do a lot of damage to 4 types (grass being one of them) and are only vulnerable to 4 Pokemon types. Oh yeah, PS, Pokemon that have the ice type can easily destroy Pokemon such as Rayquaza and Dragonite. That is nearly impossible to do with a grass type Pokemon unless the Pokemon you're facing off against isn't at full health.

Regigigas is only bad if you don;t know how to use him. Most people baton pass into him. So his def/Sp. def are boosted. Also usually his attack as well. When he gets his act together (Which will usually happen since you now have a massive wall) he will be hitting hard. (160 attack is nothing to scoff at)

Registeel is much better then RegiRock, personally I find a defensive Pokemon much better if it has mixed stats instead of being overly high in 1 stat, also seeing as how it's pretty common for grass and water to be special it kind of hinders RegiRock. Also registeel has a very good move pool imo.

people underestimate AV Guzzlord. obviously he can't recover but nearly all resisted special attacks hit no more than 12% unless boosted even then he just eats them and forced switched, with special attacks he can wall break loads of physical walls and 2hko most steel types in NU with fire blast. he resists fire, water, grass, electric all of which are very special move based, resists dark and ghost on top of that and even it's neutral damage is minimal when taking neutral hits, shit aside from dragon, bug and fighting types it really doesn't have many threads since it can tank non stab dazzling gleams very well and for stab ones can survive long enough to hit back with a sludge wave to get rid of an opponent's fairy type, also special ice users can barely do much damage in NU to it either. just max out it's sp. def and sp. att and give it modest and it can do work.

Um registeel is actually pretty alright 1.its steel type so it has a lot of resistances 2.its defenses are evened out because regirock has to rely on being hit by physical moves not special and vice versa for regice.Registeel is safe in both areas due to his even defense distribution 3.although it’s 25 less than both his attack and sp.attack are even as well so you can run a physical or special registeel. 4.its the best one

registeel is VERYY good if you use the right moves and ev. But don't give the registeel ANY attacking moves. Like toxic, iron defence, rest and some other move you prefer. Registeel can be a defender and can give teams a big pain in the ass

While Registeel relying on leftovers to stay healthy, I disagree with its placement. Steel typing is the best deffensive typing, no doubt, and the fact that Registeel gets Stealth rocks, Seismic toss (not so passive despite its low offensive stats) and Protect (unlike Regigigas) allow it to have a niche in mid-tiers like RU, where it's one of the better walls. While I agree that Mesprit's stats are way too plain and don't say much, you can't say the same about Registeel. It has 80/150/150 bulk which allows it to be a very good wall with way above average bulk in both sides that makes it hard to deal with. Saying that a wall does not specialize on one specific stat is just not understanding what walls like to do. One of the best walls in the game, Toxapex , shares many things with Registeel, with very good deffensive stats, a good deffensive typing but a very passive nature that can be taken advantage of, and I'm sure you don't consider Toxapex to be a bad wall. Heck, even Chansey is decent at receiving physical hits after eviolite. Yeah, having no recovery outside of team support or Leftovers is very bad and it's the main reason why it's in RU and not RUBL or UU, but it's still way better than the other regis, which have weaknesses that can very easily be exploited and don't have great offensive stats anyway. Also, your reasonings for Hoopa were a bit weird to me. Hoopa does not want to sweep, no pokémon with 70 base speed without a way of boosting it or with a reliable priority (Hello scizor) will ever be good at sweeping in high or mid tiers. The thing is Hoopa wants to wallbreak with either Nasty plot+Zmove/life orb or with Choice Specs, and I think we all know how good ghost is offensively and how hard to resist it is with only dark and normal being somewhat uncommon (and still being weak to Focus Blast as coverage). Hoopa does not want to win the game alone, it likes to come in on slower pokémon it can threaten and either force a sacrifice on the enemy team or weaken a very important wall. That's what wallbreakers do. And it's exactly what its big bro Hoopa-u does in OU, since it's speed is terrible for a sweeper too. The main drawbacks of Hoopa is its weakness to common priority like shadow sneak and especially Sucker Punch, which gets even worse when you see how bad its deffence is, making other neutral priority hits also threatening. And what's worse, if Hoopa were ever to become good and a threat to take into consideration when teambuilding, people would simply start to use pursuit, which completely destroys it unless it's behind substitute.

Realistically (if Game Freak were going for more realistic-type type coverage), Ice should have strength against: Ground (due to the earth/ground splitting and cracking from ice expanding and contracting it); Flying (because birds' flying ability gets real hampered when their wings are frozen over and they divebomb out the sky to their deaths); Electric (because most cables and appliances will break when exposed to frigid temperatures); Grass (because plants die with too low of temperatures); Water (because frozen over from temperatures); Bug (because bugs usually can't survive low temperatures as plants can't); and Dragon (because they're essentially overglorified birds, unless they're Frost Dragons (Skyrim logic)). The weaknesses stand where they should: Fire (due to heat melting away cold); Steel (because it is usually temperature resistant and can pierce right through frozen objects); Rock (same case with Steel); and Fighting (because humans can usually either survive or thrive in cold temperatures). Fairy should be weak to Ice, because fairies derive their powers usually from the nature around them, and ice weakens nature. Ghost should be strong against Ice, because ghosts are typically depicted as cold, lifeless entities; Dark follows a similar pattern, instead being strengthened by the cold since dark areas are usually quite colder than regular-temperature areas. Psychic should remain neutral, because wizards, and magical beings like psychics, neither are majorly injured nor incredibly powered-up by the cold. Poison and Normal follow this logic as well, both neither destroyed nor boosted in regular conditions by the cold. So new types Ice should be super effective against: Fairy, Bug, Electric. New types Ice should be weak against: Ghost, Dark. Neutrals remaining remain the same. New resistances for Ice: Dragon, Fairy (both pretty much can't do anything in extreme colds, and only when they have evolved past it can they overcome it). New types resistant to Ice: Ghost, Dark (both essentially absorb the cold for their own uses, and aren't harmed by it whatsoever). Grass and Bug would have been added into types Ice can resist, but there have been many more cases of them being able to evolve past simply the frigid cold, to thrive in said conditions, so they get a small pass if only in that case. Sorry for this really long post, in advance. Just trying to come up with a good explanation for things, similar to a certain few videos did before.

I don't think Ice should be effective against electric because pokemons dont usually have cables inside their bodies. Don't see how Ice can hurt pure electric energy. And water pokemons surely will take Ice attacks more easily than any other type. While Ghost and Dark may have resistance to Ice, Ice too should have resistance to those types, since they share simular nature (by your logic). Don't really understand how fairy type works, so can't comment on that, tho I doubt fantasy logic is applicable to pokemon universe. If it was for me, I would add to Ice resistance Grass, Flying and maybe Bug types, and leave offensive as is.

Registeel is so much better than Regirock. Not that it's even that good but it's easily better than Regirock. You're firstly acting like having 150 in both defences is a bad thing. Saying it doesn't have a niche is ridiculous, it has base 150 in both defences! That's really good... Secondly, Steel is a thousand times better of a defensive typing than Rock. 3 weaknesses as opposed to 5 and as 12 resistances as opposed to 4. If you need any proof just look at their past positions in tiers. Regirock has been NU since DP. Registeel was UU in DP and BW but dropped to RU in XY. Still better than Regirock.

The Regis aren't my favorite either, especially in Pokemon go and Regirock. When they were in the raids it was annoying trying to catch them. Regice and Registeel were easy, Regirock though was a pain in the arse to catch. It never stood still, it was constantly jumping and moving. Even when it stood still long enough-which usually lasted one second or less-for me to get it into a pokeball, it would literally jump out less than one microsecond out of it. The pokeball barely touched it and it's out of the freaking pokeball. I hate Regirock for that.

I personally feel really bad for Regigigas, it's one of my favorite Pokemon in terms of style and history. But near everybody says Regigigigas is one of the worst Pokemon because of it's lack of recovery and Slow Start. Poor Regigigigigas, Gamefreak made him cool but also terrible. EDIT: I need to re-word part of what I said. Regigigigigigas is not a terrible Pokemon per se, nor are the other 3 Regi's for that matter. Some will rant about the lack of recovery, but one of the comments below did point out the very valid point that they do not lack support. And even despite the ever-lasting debates about which Pokemon has objectively better stats than which Pokemon, it all boils down to the very fair point of preference and what someone finds to be the most fun for playing the game to their tastes.

For Solgaleo/Lunala's case, it messes up the value of getting them as cover legendaries, especially since its implied there is more of them out there.. Mythicals might bend stuff around like Manaphy/Phione did but its not suitable for mascot legendaries, especially since they give off more of the "one of a kind" thing

This list is not bad but is a bit flawed. You completely ignored how Registeel having way better Sp.D and 150 for each defense is really good for a wall, plus he's steel type which resists way more types than Rock and it also halves stealth rock damage. I'm not saying it's good, but he's definitely way better than regirock and it's really painfully obvious why. Other than that the list is pretty accurate but it could explain better a few point like why said type is not good for offense or defense.

Water and Steel is quite a good mix, only weak to Electric, Ground, and Fighting. Steel and Bug is the best for having only one, if a x4 weakness at that, main weakness, and a whole lot more coverage. Steel and Flying is more balanced, at having just two x2 weaknesses, and covers fair bit more. Steel, as a whole, even with losing resistance from Ghost and Dark, is still quite the nice type.
