Something I've always wondered about talking to refs and arguing calls. If a player completely owns up to 95% of their fouls. Like all of the fairly obvious ones. No complaints at all. Would the refs kind of just believe them on the other 5%? Like when there's a really iffy call that won't be reviewed, would that player's opinion now have more influence because they're usually very honest?
@jjthe13th2 жыл бұрын
I play basketball. Nothing pro, nothing big, but I tend to ask myself the same question. I have a few theories; Sometimes on defense, u are pumped with adrenaline and don't feel like u ve even touched ur opponent on defense when u actually switched sports and did an excellent tackle. A foul call puts u and ur team further at a disadvantage. Hence the yelling. On offense, players have long been encouraged to expect a foul call when they drive to the basket. So when they feel any bodily contact they expect the call, and when it doesn't go their way they're mad. Hence the yelling. For both, they expect an equal whistle to be called the other side. So they overanalyze, see no call, they get a second call and now they feel wronged and unfairly targeted, hence the yelling.

Simple answer. It depends on the person bing the ref. to explain it simple: strong and self confident refs will not like constant complaining. There fore u should only state the 5%. In soccer we have the rule of “simulation” and all it is, is pretty much what you’re saying about the flopping. If a player gets caught “simulating a penalty” they will receive a yellow card I understand that basketball doesn’t have the card system but maybe it’s a foul that goes toward them. Gets them closer to the 6 fouls. Just an example of that situation in other sports.

I hate when people complain about flipping and only bring up defensive flops. To me it’s just the counter to rip through moves, jumping into guys when they close out, and throwing your hands up and yelling any time you get blocked, it goes both ways. I’ll never get over when smart drew a charge on las earlier in the year and kd said “that’s not basketball” when in that game he did multiple rip throughs, and got a call where someone tipped the ball going up on his jumper and he smacked his own wrist. Neither of those things are basketball but if you’re gonna do it on offense, players are gonna counter on defense

I like the retroactive techs. It needs some tweaking but it could work

People complain about how Giannis is officiated but he's never trying to con the refs he's just playing the game and being physical, all these dudes just flop in front of him and people really wanna see that rewarded with charges lol, part of the problem is fans don't even appreciate physicality

Jrue’s steal was last night was reminiscent of the ones he had in the finals last year

I'm a newer Basketball fan, but can't the refs just give players a tech for flopping like how players can get yellow cards for diving in Football(soccer)

The game 5 stat includes first round series from when it was best of 5 series'. This means, it used to be that in the first round, the team who won game 5 won the series 100% of the time. This is probably why game 5 appears to be very important.

Some of the greatest teams have like a 6-man that can come off the bench and go crazy. The Bucks don’t have that. I wonder if that is something they should try and get if anyone is out there. Because when Kris is down and Jrue is struggling, is Bobby Portis enough? This could even help when the main guys are resting. Just a thought.

Well the winner of game 7 wins the series 100% of the time. It ain’t over until it’s over. Let’s go Celtics

I think there should be a flop "credit score". And each egregious flop lowers a player's score. If a player with a low score flops, the refs should take that with a grain of salt vs. a player with a high score.

I could’ve sworn Jrue did the same or similar thing in the finals last year

I saw a suggestion on Reddit a while ago where the league should investigate a flopping incident kind of like a L2M report, and if the suspected player is guilty of flopping, they should be fined and force to wear a pink patch or something on their jersey for the next game 😂 But the idea of giving them a technical is a great idea too

here in europe when someone flopps ref give him an attention call and next one is a tech... maybe nba should consider applying this FIBA rule
