As a lifelong Milwaukee Bucks fan, I will sorely miss Jrue Holiday. Not only a fantastic point guard, but an even better human being. Jrue is just the epitome of a class act all the way and represented the Bucks and the city of Milwaukee in the best way possible. Oddly enough, the Celtics have always been my 2nd favorite team, so if the Bucks come up short this year, I will jump on the Celtic bandwagon. I'm hopeful that my team gets it's third championship this year, but gotta be prepared for any eventuality, lol. I know it's stupid to think about how great it would be to have both Jrue and Dame at the same time, but can you imagine? Bucks would have probably won 70 games! rob was always injury prone since the beginning, and that marcus trade needed to happen for the celtics and the grizzlies. the grizzlies NEED a vet in that locker room. love marcus down, but he had to go in order for jayson and jaylen to grow up and be the leader for the celtics.

He just signed a 3 year extension so I guess he’s probably not about to retire. Rob Williams was awesome, but he plays thru injury every year. That was honestly what held the Celtics back, in both 2022 and 2023 Rob Williams was injured by the second round. And Marcus Smart gave his everything for this team and will be remembered, but after consecutive seasons of being just below the hump it was time to blow up the big 3. Tatum was 25, JB was 26 and Smart was 30, the answer was clear on who had to go. However, THEY DIDNT EVEN PLAN ON TRADING HIM! It was supposed to be Brogdon (who demanded a trade) for KP but right before KPs contract deadline Brogdon failed a physical. If KP went into free agency, the Celtics would have to make a bunch of moves to clear cap space to sign him, but if they exchanged a contract for him they could get him. So they pulled the trigger and traded smart for KP AND A FIRST ROUND PICK. As much as it hurts to say, the deal was worth it. People questioned our chances because of injury history, but in reality Rob, Brogdon, and Smart have all been injured this year. The Celtics just combined 3 injury prone assets coming off injuries for 1 injury prone asset coming off his healthiest season of his career.

They traded him for a guy who was almost an all star that season, averaged 25ppg, and got a first round pick on top of it. I honestly don’t think they do this deal if Brogdon fails his physical earlier. Because they had like 24-48 hours to find a deal before KP would opt out and become a free agent, and then they wouldn’t have the cap space to sign him. And on paper they sent Marcus to an incredible opportunity. Unfortunately they got bombarded with injuries and never had a shot at it but this team was a top 3 seed the year before, and if he stays there they will be healthy and with a high draft pick next year.

Bucks fan - Jrue will always be loved in Milwaukee & will be remembered here. It shocked us all when it happened. But he was their only viable option to offer in a trade. We all know Giannis wasn't going to be traded and unfortunately Khris's value just wasn't the same as Jrue's. With no draft picks, management was very limited on what they could do. Could they have ran it back with those 3 ? Yeah maybe, but there was a sense there was going be a shake up after that 1st round exit. Not the real reason. The real reason was Giannis saying they needed to make a move lol. He didn’t say he was about to retire, he just said he was thinking about retiring after his contract (2 years) but he just signed a 3 year extension so clearly it was never that serious. The front office said it themselves, Giannis said make a move or I won’t sign an extension, nobody wanted Middleton and Brook was a free agent so they had to use Jrue as their main asset, and Dame was the only available guy. Also, very important to note that Jrue said he wanted to retire a buck, that was his main message. He might retire in two years (now after next year) or he might resign with the bucks. Now he’s gone gone.

Here’s how you can fathom it: Try being Jrue Holiday and put yourself in a scenario where you can contribute to winning. Jrue is one of the best perimeter defenders in the world, the fact that Jimmy torched him is more props to Jimmy than hate in Jrue because there’s not a human alive who woulda stopped him those 2 nights. Middleton's health has been fine since rehabbing the major injury during 2022 playoffs. It took a while to get back to being 100%, but since he's been healthy... until KD undercut him on a dangerous closeout. That's not on Khris that he missed 15 games cuz of it, and it doesn't mean he's injury prone either

As a Bucks fan, I'm going to feel real sad for Jrue after he doesn't perform well in the playoffs and costs the Celtics some games. Those Boston fans are going to be ruthless. It's a whole another level than how the Bucks fans treated Jrue after he let Jimmy Butler average 45 points against him last years playoffs basically 1v1 and basically solely allowing the Heat to beat the Bucks in the first round. It is basically the entire reason he was traded for Damian Lillard. Truth hurts but that's it.

@@Ausnapify Boston is just playing different- even though the have stars on the team- they are meant to find the open man and mismatches not the open star or best scorer on the team. It's different and not what basketball fans are used to as we anticipate the super-star(s) taking over and closing out games and role players standing by watching. Its just different and take getting used to- it just means everyone else has to up their play and be dependable. All of the role player have leveled up their play, significantly- Kornet, Pritchard, Hauser... DWhite is better with Boston than he was in San Antonio- but it took him time to get there. It will be the same with Jrue. This relationship just needs more time- he came into the fold really late- It will work out, no doubt.

Yea I wish they would utilize him more, he’s easily there best playmaker but he gets the least amount of touches and has no problem deferring to everyone. I think they would be better if he was more of a consistent threat on the floor.

I disagree completely jrue is playing perfectly for Boston and he’s having a great shooting year 65 percent on corner 3s 44 from 3 in general Boston uses jrue like a free safety he never had a defensive starting 5 like the Celtics for where jrue is at his career him being a 4th option in Boston is Amazing for both sides his court awareness and leadership is amazing and it’s exactly what Boston was missing Bucks needed a number 2 option jrue isn’t that anymore he got bested by butler because of the extra offensive effort he had to put In but in Boston? He doesn’t have to be a score he’s playing freely in Boston with less pressure to score He playing along side the best defensive Foward in ( JT ) and JB is having his best defensive year so is Derrick white all elite defenders with The unicorn manning the middle That starting five has potentially All first nba Defenders on it
