And instead of her talking to him about what his reservations were she gave an ultimatum. Which didn’t address the underlying issues at all. Dated a guy for 2 years and asked him what's going on? He said relationships at 2 years are still in their honeymoon phase. I said that's fine but I am out of the relationship as being an eternal girlfriend wasn't on my agenda at this point in my life. I said if we meet later in life and are single and care for each other we may revisit this situation. For me I would rather be single so I can meet someone on same page with me. This happened to me and after five years, he didn’t propose, even though he said he wanted a life with me. Know your worth ladies and don’t be afraid to walk away from someone who’s wasting your time. You are better than being someone’s forever girlfriend. This sounds like my story to a T! The ONLY difference is that I didn't give him an 'ultimatum'. After the 3rd year I told him "one day I'm going to make a transition because I know my worth. Also, one man's trash is another man's treasure!" 2 years later out of the blue and living all happily (lol), I surprised him by finding a house, bought it and moved out! I did not discuss any of this with him. Yes, he helped me move because he had pride and was like this guy. But to this day he's still hanging around fixing stuff at my house, taking me on trips and buying me things...do I accept them? Hell yeah!! But it's on MY terms now! He's a wonderful guy, we're great friends and we get along well. No issues or worries about finances, seeing other people, family drama, etc... but I wouldn't marry him if he asked me for NO reason. He had 5 friggin' years to make that decision. Now, I see myself going forward and being someone else's wife someday. I'll soon cut ties, take some months to work on myself and then start to date again. Because just like him, I'm calculated in my decisions... It's the game of life and 2 can play. I play to win!😄

Ultimatums are manipulative & disrespectful as well as don’t work with people who have boundaries. My then-husband (MUSLIM man) told me “If I take a 2nd wife you will have to teach her what I like & don’t like.” I said to him “ok.” And he flipped out. That was his passive aggressive ultimatum to tell me “if you won’t “act right” I will replace you”. So he got upset it didn’t work on me. Because he did so many ultimatums I was sick of him & ready to get rid of his a$$. I felt like I wasn’t respected as an adult whom had the right to choose what made me comfortable. So all he did was pushed me farther away. Needless to say I left him after 4 months of marriage & we divorced 3 months later.

She best be glad she moved on after five years because true love doesn't take that long. Most Black men are so confusing. I say BM because they're all I've dealt with relationship wise on this level. They complain when a woman have little to offer and they have to provide, and then they are intimidated by a self-sufficient independent woman. Love is love regardless of who is providing the most as long as there's effort and teamwork. He just wanted to be single. He may regret it down the road. I had a BF who got cold feet because I picked out a $15,000 engagement ring/ wedding set when together we made good money with cars paid for and no children. Had been with him 5 years. I don't regret a thing. He did..came back and was rejected. Life goes on...
