We had a chat maybe about 2 years ago on surfboards, appropriate volume and skill level. Needless to say, when I got my new board few months ago I reached for that message and dial in volume perfectly. Fun fact: I got a 5’5 Sub Xero in Carbotune construction. I love the board so much, but without Noel tips I would’ve probably got volume wrong over sizing it. Today I realized 29 liters are more than enough 😂. So thanks, for everything! Huge supporter and your videos have helped me so much. I'm on the east coast in FL and my daily has been a sweet potato. My abilities are far below what the board is capable of, but I feel like it doesn't do so well in the wally shore break I've been surfing lately. I'm in the market for something more in the small wave HPSB realm (trying to get into snappy turns/airs) and was considering the mini ghost or Pisces. Any recommendations?

Hi Noel , great review like always. But it was nice if there was also content in the ocean. What do you suggest 1-3 ft mushy beachbreaks. Pyzel White Tiger with the squash tail or the JS sub Xero with the swallow ? How's the rockerline compaired to these 2 boards when you surf a 2 ft wave with more texture and a lip hitting a sand bar??
@surfnshowreviews777715 күн бұрын
@@zipanguful The WT has a little less overall rocker so it might be a bit faster with more glide. In 1-2’ mushy waves I say WT. for 1-4’ surf I say Sub Xero. The SX offers more performance in the pocket and it will carve better too.

Another great review Noel, the comparison of boards that you share is extremely helpful in determining a best purchase for me. I prefer lighter boards normally, how do you compare the weight of the carbotune to a poly, hyfi 3, or even xtr epoxy boards? Keep shredding!
@surfnshowreviews777713 күн бұрын
@@arrowpatrick8579 my Carbotune Gravity’s weight is similar to a team light PU. It’s lighter compared to both HYFY 2.0 and 3.0. The HYFY weight is similar to a stock PU/Poly off the rack at a surf shop. If you go XTR…. You can make that super light if you want.

The 96 has a better wave range of 1-8’ surf and it can do it all as a performance fish. However the SX does sharper turns and offers a bit more vertical surfing in the pocket on 1’-4’ surf.

Hey Noel, as always awesome review! Seeking some help if you can please sorry a bit of a long one. Looking for a groveller mainly for 1-3ft beach breaks. I’m 136lbs and 5’8 beginner/intermediate - easily catching waves, pumping for speed and going down the line. I would love to now try progress into some turns… Currently riding a 5’6 Machadocado (32.3l) with the machado 2+1 fins for the board. I’m loving the feel of the board and the ease I have catching waves although I’m struggling to turn and move the board around. Do you think I’m on too many litres for my weight? I was thinking of dropping down to a 5’4 Machadocado 28.8l but I’m a bit worried because before I bought the Machadocado I had a 5’4 Pyzel White Tiger 28.2l and hated it… felt way too wobbly and unstable… sold it right away.. Do you recommend any boards? Should I drop down to the 5’4 machadocado despite the similar litres to the white tiger given that I like the feel of the 5’6 or should I stay on the 5’6 and practise more as I understand a lot of it has to do with technique… but ultimately I would like to make sure I’m on the right board 😅 Just to note I’m a heavily front footed surfer. Would really appreciate any advice/recommendations. Thank you 🙏

@@Tehwhsyeg77 Your volume range could go down a little… I say 29-31L. The shorter you go the looser the board. Don’t go down too short… it will feel unstable and hard to get up on with control. I say try to find a used board with a little less volume but don’t sell your Cado until you find something better. Technique wise… ride your Cado and practice your turns by shifting 70% of your weight onto your back foot to turn the board hard and quickly. After you make the turn… then put more weight on your front foot to regain speed again. Look for these types of models used at 29-31L.
