With respect to your comments about the benefit of a stiff rod tip to effectively jig in deep water, I've been experimenting with rapidly tugging the line about about a foot above the reel to generate quick and consistent jig action. The results have been very good. Just have to be quick on the hook set. Maybe give it a try.

Another great video. I have noticed you recharge your gulps often, including when repositioning yourself in your kayak. How big of a difference does that make? I love what you said about the Nexus rod but it only comes in a 7' version. What jigging/baitcasting rod do you recommend for Kayak fishing, under 6' in length? I am looking at the Ugly Stick Tiger Lite 5'8" XH jigging rod. Lightweight and good reviews.

I'm not a fan of fluke do to their abundance. although catching the big ones are rewarding they just don't speak fishing to me. a striper is the easy perfect fish as far as retrieving them or beaching them. a bluefish is a real fish as far as challenges and fight. I'd have to say as an amaturd ocean fisherman who hails from the country freshwater ponds and rivers I tend to compare my likes to bass, salmon, muskellunge, pike and lake trout. all larger then what the masses of people tend to pull out of the ocean here on the east shores of the states. id love skinner to take to the Great Lakes and show us what he can do up there. I'd just love that. "great gob on this trip and the best guide for it!" 👍🏼

John great video. Have you had a chance to try the Nexus XH versus the H?

@MichaelP04185 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you are not giving the fluke enough time to take the bait. Deal with that quite often when shore fishing as I like to set the hook early on occasion. Keep jigging until you feel steady weight on the end of your line, then set the hook
