I have been fishing long island all year, its just i cant even find a spot with fish. I caught 3 stripers all year... How do you find spots with such great striper activity?
@BanksideOutdoors7 жыл бұрын
exploring haha you have to find a spot that holds fish to get the fish. it sounds silly but once you find the spots that hold fish youll have them. look for structure, currents that are different from the surrounding area, ask around on forums or look at pictures from where other people are finding the fish. and most of all just have fun with it. Always remember a bad day on the water is better than your best day at work.

Hey John, I keep waiting for a new article from you on Noreast. They are way to far apart.
@drumsistkrieg13499 жыл бұрын
@12:25 that was pretty ridiculous. Here on the west coast it's pretty common for adult stripers to eat juveniles and small schoolies, in stomach pumping surveys of double digit fish they usually always indicate that other small stripers are a main dietary staple. Trippy to see it that extreme though!

Hello Mr. Skinner. I recently purchased a Yozuri Mag Darter. I notice a big difference from the Super Strike not only in their profile but in the action too. Have you tried using these darters from Yozuri? If so could you do a video providing some suggestions on the technique and application of these darters? It would be much appreciated.
@lukeprince76902 жыл бұрын
Hey probably won't see this common anyway but I got a couple questions about the Those lures can they be fished like a giant jerk bait cause sometimes I'm fishing off of a peer current's not always that strong And also are they effective for other species I live on the Gulf coast we don't always have strippers but we got a lot of Jack revival bluefish and that's That sort of thing
@JohnSkinnerFishing2 жыл бұрын
These would not be good jerk baits. You have to dig them in and they have their own action.

Any reason why they are not particularly good daytime lures?
@kentnapp9 жыл бұрын
Do colors of plugs really matter? I fish "blurble" at night and yellows/whites/blues during low light but I have seen guys catch stripers in the darkest of nights on yellow darters. I feel like it isn't all that important.
@jeanday3039 жыл бұрын
Being that darters aren't the best daytime lures, what do you recommend for a day time wide profile bait fish imitation, that won't get torn up by bluefish?

Hello John , thanks for your videos , again ! One thing I don't understand is the swivel connecting the braid and ,you said ,3 feet of fluoro . When you cast , does the swivel go through the guides ? or do you cast with 3 feet of fluoro hanging out with the lure ? that seems odd ..
@JohnSkinnerFishing9 жыл бұрын
+captaincavern200 A 3-foot leader is comfortable to cast with. I often go longer. The swivel does not go through the guides.
@captaincavern2009 жыл бұрын
+John Skinner Fishing Ok , thank you for your quick answer . I usually connect braid & fluoro with a knot . I will try using swivel . That's faster when you broke the line .

Is the SSV 6500 better suited to 9-11ft rods or did you choose it for the bail-less option? I have a SSV4500 and Clash 4000 for my 7ft rods I use in the kayak, and a Battle II 5000 on my 10ft surf rod. I am looking to upgrade to a better surf rod (probably 11ft) and am trying to decide between the SSV 500 and 6500.
@sodeloutdoors80479 жыл бұрын
Figure out which one feels better on the rod. See which one has a better balance point for you. I'd go with the 6500
