Fishing with the John's makes it a great Gulf trip. Only way to make it better would be Doc and his laugh.

Nice nurse shark john I was fishing on dania Beach pier and hooked into one of similar size on a penn battle 6000 combo lol I ended up breaking him off when he got back to the pilings under the pier

Nice day of fishing, I noticed that you and Halk wear Crocs, I like to wear them as a over shoe for stocking foot waders, however not on a boat, for me they’re not secure enough especially when they get wet. I wear Crosskixs, they’re like the same material but designed for water sports, more like running shoes with lots of support and drainage and reasonably priced. Just thought I’d throw that out there, thanks.

Was fishing with my cousin off of Jupiter in March a few years ago. He hooked a giant AP over a wreck on a dead sardine. Turns out it was a 28 lbs. and took him 20 minutes to land. It was delicious. First and only one both of us have seen.

Got a 90 lb. Goliath in the middle of the Ft. Pierce inlet on a charter trip. Took almost 40 minutes to get it in and had boats all around watching me fight it and somewhat light tackle (was fishing for snapper). This was back when you take them out of the water for a picture. Took 2 of us to hold it for the pic. Your fight was much more manageable with that tackle.

African Pompano are in my top 3 fish to eat from the Gulf. As a Yankee I would compare them to haddock or black sea bass - sweet white flaky meat. Would take over snapper any day

Looks like a Great trip.. Hey didn't Florida recently approve a certain amount of Goliath grouper for keeping for recreational consumption ? Those 80-100 lb sized ones would seem like the ones to eat cause I'm sure the really big ones probably aren't. 🤔
@JohnSkinnerFishing8 күн бұрын
There's a very limited number of Goliath permits and I think they cost $500.

Right. By "snappers", I meant we were hoping for mangroves and yellowtails. We did get a few of those in addition to the red groupers.
