Funnily enough we brits invented the word soccer. Oxford university slang taken from association football, then Americans liked it and called their association football “soccer”. Many years ago when I was a young kid, my dad uprooted the whole family from England to live in Colorado for several years. My mother's first real experience of living there, so she tells me, was when she decided to walk to a grocery store - as she would always do in England. The difference was that being a mile above sea level in the Denver suburb of Englewood meant that the air was so thin that she couldn't make it back home because she was so out of breath and had to sit down. Then, a passing motorist stopped and asked if she needed help. He gave her a ride up the hill back home (yes, this was a long time ago!). So her first impression of Colorado, and America by extension, was that the people were some of nicest and kindest she'd ever met. That view was only confirmed again and again over four years. I still miss it :) I wonder if it's still the same!

There was a Cornish Bait manufacture called "Red Gill" owned and run by a friend of one of my older Cousins, his name is Alex Ingram. Most of his lures were made of Silicone Rubber a very new thing back in the mid 70s and based in the Common Sand Eel. They were great I caught so many Mackerel, Pollock, and even Sea Bass with them. They were made in the small fishing village of (you may have difficulty pronouncing this) Mevagissey.
